Another surprisingly interesting continuation of the saga through the eyes of a mostly new character.

This new perspective brings a fresh and exciting element to the story. The mostly new character allows for a different take on the events and relationships that have been unfolding.

We get to see the saga from a unique vantage point, which adds depth and complexity to the overall narrative.

The character's experiences and thoughts provide valuable insights into the world and the characters that we have come to know and love.

Despite being mostly new, the character quickly becomes a central and engaging figure, drawing us in and making us eager to follow their journey.

Overall, this continuation of the saga through the eyes of a mostly new character is a welcome addition that keeps us hooked and excited for what comes next.

It shows that there is still plenty of life and potential in this story, and that the creators are not afraid to take risks and explore new territory.

We can't wait to see how the story will develop and how this new character will fit into the larger picture.

WTF! This really shouldn't be included in this series. It's such an awful cliffhanger. The series finale is supposed to be in book two, and this one is just a lead-in for the next series. Seriously, either it should all be one continuous series, or this book should be part of the next one. Grr, it's so frustrating.

Overall, the story is okay. It's better than the legacy books but not as good as the riftwar books. I'm glad that Tal finally got his restaurant with amazing food. I also liked the segment about the farmers. Kasper seems more like a real person now that he's not being 'controlled' by Varen, but this sudden character rewrite makes him a bit unbelievable. Also, Varen attacking both Elevander and Sorcerers Isle, especially after being beaten by Tal in the last book, just seems odd. It's like he's had a huge boost in power despite having to acquire a new body and an evil headquarters. It's not very believable.

As the books progress, I'm becoming significantly less enchanted compared to how I felt about the initial series. It's really disappointing. I hope the next installment can bring back some of the magic and excitement that made the first series so great.

This review focuses on the "Conclave of Shadows" trilogy.

With "Talon of the Silver Hawk", Feist presents a novel aspect of Midkemia and introduces new characters who will evolve into heroes and save the world, a common theme in his works. The "last of his people" trope didn't resonate with me as strongly as the "desperate men given a 2nd chance" in the Serpentwar series, which is my favorite. However, I did like the setting east of the Kingdom. Placing the story there expands the world, although it doesn't seem drastically different from the western setting in the Kingdom.

In this trilogy, Feist showcases his storytelling prowess. The plot is well-crafted, the pacing is appropriate, and I found the story enjoyable. The unexpected new perspective in the third book was a pleasant surprise. While the story may not be entirely original or innovative, it is familiar and comforting.

Overall, the "Conclave of Shadows" trilogy is a worthy addition to Feist's body of work, offering an engaging adventure in the world of Midkemia.

This is an incredible story that is easily the best of this trilogy. It has captivated me from start to finish and left me with a sense of wonder and excitement.

The characters are well-developed and the plot is full of twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. I found myself completely immersed in the story and unable to put the book down.

I know for sure that I will read this book again in the future. It has left such a lasting impression on me that I can't wait to experience it all over again.

I'm also eagerly anticipating what comes next in this series. The author has done an amazing job of setting up the story and leaving us with so many unanswered questions. I can't wait to see how it all concludes.

Overall, this is a must-read for any fan of the genre. It's a truly remarkable piece of work that will stay with you long after you've finished reading.

I didn't expect to like this story as much as the last two because it follows Kaspar instead of Tal.

However, it was just as good in the end. Kaspar, who had committed so many horrible things while under the magical influence of Leso Varen, slowly begins to redeem himself.

As the story progresses, we see his transformation and growth. By the end, I ended up quite liking him.

The underlying storyline, which involves the demon/Nameless One overarching plot, has also revived my interest.

It adds an element of mystery and excitement that keeps me engaged throughout the story.

Overall, this installment was a pleasant surprise and has made me eager to see what comes next in the series.

Another excellent example of a well-balanced adventure that also focuses on character building. Mr. Feist has once again shown his remarkable ability to construct a story line that seamlessly weaves together the past and lays the groundwork for the next series. In this way, he is able to tell a tale of truly vast proportions. I find great pleasure in delving into the details of each individual character and uncovering the bigger picture that seems to hold endless possibilities. It is truly a masterful piece of work. Well done, Sir!

His writing style is engaging and captivating, drawing the reader in from the very first page and keeping them hooked until the very end. The world he has created is rich and vibrant, filled with unique characters and exciting adventures. I can't wait to see what he has in store for us in the next series.

Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good adventure story with well-developed characters and a captivating plot. It is sure to keep you entertained for hours on end.

Following on from King of Foxes, this new installment offers an interesting and good perspective shift by presenting the story from Kaspar's point of view. I truly enjoyed the first part of the book. Kaspar's journey in a strange land is captivating as he navigates his way in and out of difficult situations. Although there were hints in the previous books, this one really shows that Kaspar is a quite nuanced character. His actions and decisions are complex, making him a fascinating protagonist to follow.

However, the ending of the book wasn't quite as strong. It felt a bit rushed as events suddenly unfolded at a rapid pace. While the events were certainly interesting and had an impact, they didn't seem to have the build-up that they deserved. This leaves the reader hanging, eagerly anticipating the next book to see how the story will continue to develop.

Better than the Riftwar!

I had always been a fan of good fantasy series, but I never thought that one could be this incredibly good. However, the author has truly outdone himself once again. The character development in this series is simply outstanding. Each character is so well-crafted, with their own unique personalities, flaws, and strengths. It's like getting to know real people as you read through the story.

The story itself is a captivating tale of redemption. It follows the journey of the characters as they face numerous challenges and obstacles, and strive to overcome their past mistakes and find a way to make things right. It's a story that will tug at your heartstrings and keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.

And of course, we can't forget about Nakor. He is one of the most fascinating and entertaining characters in the series. His wit, charm, and unique perspective on life add a whole new dimension to the story. Every time he appears on the page, you know that something interesting and unexpected is about to happen.

Overall, I would highly recommend this series to anyone who loves a great fantasy story. It's better than the Riftwar, and that's saying a lot.

My 5-star rating is not solely due to the fact that this is my favorite author and I am rereading the entire Riftwar cycle.

Kasper, who transformed from a villain to a beloved character, was truly enjoyable. Talwin, on the other hand, actually opened a restaurant.

Many people are claiming that Mr. Feist got tired of coming up with something new and that it's all just the same - war and two boys who fix it. However, it provides comfort. There is always intrigue and action, and I simply love all of his characters. They are like my friends.

The Riftwar cycle has a certain charm that keeps pulling me back. The detailed world-building, the complex relationships between the characters, and the thrilling storylines all contribute to its appeal.

Even though some may argue that it follows a similar pattern, I find that each book has its own unique elements that make it stand out.

Mr. Feist's writing style is engaging and immersive, making it easy for me to lose myself in the story.

In conclusion, I highly recommend the Riftwar cycle to anyone who enjoys epic fantasy. It's a classic series that has stood the test of time and continues to captivate readers.

Nakor: "We have a problem."

This simple statement from Nakor holds a world of significance. It implies that there is an issue at hand that requires attention and resolution.

The problem could be of various natures. It might be a technical glitch, a communication breakdown, a financial difficulty, or a personal conflict.

Regardless of its nature, Nakor's acknowledgment of the problem is the first step towards finding a solution. It shows that he is aware of the situation and is ready to take action.

Now, the focus should be on analyzing the problem, identifying its root cause, and exploring possible solutions. This may involve gathering more information, consulting with others, and considering different perspectives.

By working together and using their combined skills and knowledge, Nakor and his team can overcome the problem and move forward.

The Conclave of Shadows dupes Kasper, the former duke of Olasko, on a land far, far away.

Kasper suddenly finds himself in a completely new and harsh environment, where he has to struggle to survive.

This book is truly a great one, filled with countless surprises and intense suspense.

The author skillfully crafts the story by having the chapters jump from one character to another, which effectively shows the broad expanse of the operation.

Readers will be constantly on the edge of their seats, eager to uncover the next twist and turn in the plot.

It's a captivating read that will keep you engaged from beginning to end.

I kind of view the Conclave series as trashy fantasy.

It's the kind of thing you can breeze through easily because the reading level is not overly challenging.

Moreover, everything that unfolds within its pages is rather predictable.

Generally speaking, the characters you root for will end up victorious.

Exile's return adheres to this same pattern, yet it scarcely seems to fit neatly within the Conclave series.

In fact, it functions more as a setup book for the Darkwar Saga.

The second half of the book is filled with lots of cool lore regarding the gods and the realm.

This lore adds an interesting layer to the overall narrative and makes you eager to see what will happen next in the Darkwar Saga.

Despite its predictability, there is still something somewhat enjoyable about the Conclave series and Exile's return in particular.

It's a guilty pleasure that you can pick up and lose yourself in for a while.

Whether or not it will ultimately prove to be a memorable or significant piece of fantasy literature remains to be seen.

But for now, it serves as a bit of light entertainment that can pass the time.
