An excellent ending to this saga, but with a perfect cliffhanger to start the next one. It leaves the readers on the edge of their seats, eager to know what will happen next.
In this final episode of the Conclave of the Shadows trilogy, we follow Kaspar, the ex-Duke of Olasko. Although we might have finished the previous book despising him, in this book, we start to get a better sense of who he really is and follow him on his journey of redemption. The author does a great job of developing Kaspar's character, making us sympathize with him despite his past actions.
This book also has more elements of paranormal and a touch of horror, which adds to the overall atmosphere of the story. It builds on the belief structures of the world Raymond Feist has created, with meetings of Gods and the different temples. The descriptions of these religious elements are vivid and detailed, making the world feel even more real.
But I really enjoyed the ending where we meet up with old characters from his first book in the Riftwar Cycle, Magician. We get to meet Pug and Tomas again, which is a great treat for fans of the series. This is a long book, following a long journey, with a great deal of action in the last two chapters and the epilogue. The action is intense and exciting, keeping the readers engaged until the very end. I can't wait to move onto the next stage in this story.
