I truly love Suki's tenacity. It is remarkable how she firmly knows what she wants and pursues it with determination.

Her story makes me wish that in every classroom, we would celebrate children and their unique heritages just like Suki's classroom did for her.

By doing so, we can not only make the children feel valued and proud of who they are but also create a more inclusive and diverse learning environment.

Each child has a rich background and culture that deserves to be recognized and honored.

When we celebrate their heritages, we are not only teaching them about their own roots but also about the beauty and importance of different cultures.

This can help to foster a sense of acceptance and understanding among the students, which is essential for building a harmonious and peaceful society.

Therefore, I hope that more educators will follow the example of Suki's classroom and take the time to celebrate the children and their heritages.

I truly have a deep affection for the illustrations in this particular piece.

The portrayals of people within it are simply amazing.

Each illustration seems to bring the characters to life, with such vivid details and expressions.

It's as if you can almost step into the world that the illustrations have created.

The artist has done an outstanding job of capturing the essence and personality of each individual.

Whether it's the look in their eyes, the way they are posed, or the clothing they are wearing, every aspect adds to the overall charm and appeal of the illustrations.

They not only enhance the story but also stand alone as works of art.

I find myself constantly drawn back to them, marveling at the talent and creativity that went into their creation.

It's rare to come across illustrations that have such a powerful impact, and this one truly does.

I can't wait to see more of the artist's work in the future.

An awesome little girl is the star of an awesome story. There are many things to like about it.

Suki has a mind of her own, which is truly remarkable. Her mother and teacher both support her independence, which is essential for her growth and development.

(Spoiler!) Suki emerges victorious over the bullies by simply holding on to her self and being true to herself. This is a powerful message for readers of all ages.

The book also provides a light introduction to Japanese-American culture, which is both educational and interesting. It features a girl as the hero, who is not only smart but also strong-willed. Additionally, the main character is of Japanese heritage, adding to the cultural diversity of the story.

The illustrations in the book are very expressive, bringing the story to life and making it even more engaging. Overall, this is a wonderful book that I highly recommend.

I truly hope that Uegaki writes some more Suki books, as I can't wait to read more about this amazing little girl.

"Suki's Kimono" is an enchanting story that revolves around a girl's decision to don a bold yet significant outfit on her first day of school. The kimono, which her grandmother had given her to wear at a Japanese festival, becomes the center of attention. Her sisters tease her, and her classmates snicker, but Suki maintains her composure and dignity. When the teacher asks Suki to share something about herself with the class, she performs a traditional Japanese dance that she and her grandmother had done at the festival. The classmates, who were previously laughing at her, are now in awe and clapping for Suki. On her way home from school, Suki smiles, thinking about how she stood out in her beautiful kimono.

This children's book contains a powerful message, incorporating multicultural elements that are essential in the classroom. The spunky protagonist, Suki, is not afraid to be true to herself. Although the narrative may be somewhat predictable, the writing and illustrations make this story a delightful read. In the classroom, this book can be utilized in a lesson on the dances of cultures worldwide. Afterward, the class can learn a traditional Japanese dance. Additionally, students can design their own kimono pattern, using symbolism from Japanese culture. Finally, students can reflect on a time when they were bullied or teased but overcame it and write an essay about that experience.

I love this book!

It is an amazing story about a little girl who has the courage to be different. Despite the possibility of being mocked, she decides to wear her special kimono to school.

This is a great book for teaching self-confidence, the importance of daring to be different, and celebrating uniqueness.

From a social studies perspective, it can be used to introduce students to the Japanese culture. It also provides an opportunity for students to research their own cultures or families and give a presentation to the class.

In art class, students can draw a picture of something related to their or their parents' culture.

It is an excellent resource for teaching about diversity.

The illustrations in the book are simply awesome, adding to the overall charm and appeal.

Girl power all the way!! It empowers young girls to embrace their individuality and be proud of who they are.

My library had only a single copy remaining of this book, and unfortunately, it was marked as "currently unavailable" as it was long overdue. I was unable to place a hold on it, but I persisted in monitoring its status. Fortunately, someone returned it just in time for me to place a hold and obtain it for my multicultural children's literature assignment at school! I'm truly delighted to have had the opportunity to read this book.

In this charming picture book, Suki is preparing for her very first day of school. She has a strong desire to wear her kimono, despite the warnings from her older sisters that people might make fun of her and she might struggle to make friends. Nevertheless, she decides to wear it regardless. The story weaves in her precious memories of attending a beautiful Japanese festival with her grandmother and also delves into her present experiences at school.

The illustrations in this book are vibrant and colorful, offering a delightful peek into Japanese culture and heritage. The book incorporates several Japanese words and provides their translations in a glossary right at the beginning, enabling adults to read the story to children with clarity and confidence. While some elements of the book, especially those related to the social dynamics at school, seemed a bit forced to me, it was still a very endearing portrayal of a first grader's love for her grandmother and culture. I would highly recommend this book to those seeking Asian representation in picture books. It would无疑 add a touch of excitement and pizzazz to classroom units or storytime events centered around the first days of school or the theme of being true to oneself.

Suki's Kimono is an engaging book that tells the story of a Japanese girl.

One day, she excitedly shares with the rest of her class about a street dance she attended over the weekend.

As she gets more and more passionate, she loses herself in the moment and ends up singing and dancing right in front of the whole class.

This book serves as an excellent educational tool to teach students about different cultures.

It allows them to learn about the various ways other cultures celebrate things and gives them an insight into the unique clothing of other cultures.

By reading this book, students can expand their knowledge and understanding of the world around them, promoting cultural awareness and acceptance.

Overall, Suki's Kimono is a wonderful book that combines entertainment with education, making it a great addition to any classroom or home library.

Never be afraid to march to a different drummer. It's usually the best way to go. In life, we often feel pressured to conform, to follow the crowd, and do things the way everyone else does. But if we always do that, we will never be able to discover our true potential and achieve something truly remarkable.

Marching to a different drummer means having the courage to be unique, to pursue our own dreams and passions, regardless of what others may think or say. It means taking risks, stepping out of our comfort zones, and being willing to make mistakes and learn from them.

When we march to a different drummer, we open ourselves up to new opportunities and experiences that we would never have had otherwise. We may meet new people, learn new skills, and gain a new perspective on life. And most importantly, we will be able to live a life that is true to ourselves, a life that is full of meaning and purpose.

I firmly believe that this book holds great value for individuals of all ages, yet it is particularly beneficial for younger students.

This book imparts a powerful lesson, namely that even when faced with the ridicule of other students, one should remain true to oneself.

Do not allow the words of others to compel you to change.

Suki, a young girl, desires to don a kimono and wooden clogs to school.

Her sisters caution her against doing so, fearing that she will be the target of mockery.

Nevertheless, Suki courageously proceeds to school in her traditional attire.

The students indeed laugh at her, but she refuses to be perturbed.

During class, when asked to share her summer experiences, Suki recounts the festival she attended.

She commences to dance, undeterred by the taunts of her classmates.

When she concludes her narrative, everyone applauds her.

The overarching message is clear: do not permit anyone to alter who you are.

Do not let the remarks of others trouble you.

Simply be yourself and strive to be the very best version of yourself.

If you remain true to yourself, others may find your authenticity fascinating and form friendships with you.
