5/5 stars for the manga itself
1/5 stars for the 20th anniversary edition
So, I'm an enormous fan of Bleach. When I learned that Viz Media was going to release a 20th anniversary edition of the manga, I was extremely excited. However, after reading this volume, I was disappointed to find that the only difference between the original and the 20th anniversary edition is the cover. Generally speaking, I would have anticipated seeing at least a new forward from Tite Kubo or a few color pages. But unfortunately, there was nothing like that. This really let me down.
Nevertheless, the manga itself is still outstanding. Tite Kubo's art remains some of the best in the industry, and the story is still engaging even after 20 years. It's a testament to the quality of the original work.
Thanks to NetGalley and Viz Media for providing this advance reader copy!
