No hurry, folks. Rukia's execution is just around the corner, so let's delve into some side stories. The Soul Society, it seems, is incredibly petty and calcified. It's almost a miracle that no one has set out to destroy it yet. Ichigo's training is indeed interesting, but he remains clueless in life. Even now, he still relies on his raw power and good looks to navigate through life. One would think it shouldn't be overly difficult for him to discover the part of himself that will enable him to achieve Bankai. In fact, some aspects of this part of the story were presented more effectively in the anime.
This is my second time reading this series, and for some reason, I have a more favorable memory of this volume. Maybe it's the anticipation of what's to come or the unique charm that this particular installment holds. Either way, it's been an enjoyable reread so far, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the story progresses.
