Honestly I was expecting something else, more like the investment philosophy of Charlie, but I ended up reading a biography, the story of his life, how and when he started and most about his family and friends. It’s an interesting reading but you got to keep in mind that this is not a finance book.

Munger led a good life. I picked this up because he died this week at 99 years old. I most admired the fact that wealth represented freedom more than anything.

In this book we get to know about Munger's boats, and his friend's grandfather's business partner's wife's... and a lot of other things which might not add so much to your understanding of Charlie Munger. The truth is that this book is often quite boring, because the topics are sometimes quite awkward and often seems to get thrown at you from out of nowhere. Often expressed in odd American slang which I (as a non-native speaker) had great difficulty understanding.

The book is well-researched, but business deals are explained with very little detail. What is good is that we do get a good feeling for Munger's overall philosophy and the principles that guide his life. That left me feeling both inspired and perhaps a bit wiser. If you are really into knowing more about that, this might be worth a read.

It discussed too much about family life rather professional life. 55:45 ratio I would say. We want to learn about what did he do to become great.

If you are a Berkshire shareholder and have ever been to Omaha for the meeting you know Charlie Munger. I always enjoy listening to him and reading whatever he has to say on current topics. This books is a good look at his personal side and how he got to where he is today. It shows that he does not live and breath the business like his famous partner but rather enjoys life and enjoying it with his loved ones. It is a very well written book but I wish it could have been a little more in-depth but I have the feeling it is exactly what Mr. Munger wanted to have written. A must read for fans of Mr. Munger, Mr. Buffett or Berkshire in general.

Wasn't that interesting. Didn't pick up any significant learnings or 1 liners. Probably would have been much more effective by reading a wiki page on him.

Very worthwhile if you are interested in Buffet/Munger.

Otherwise not unmissable--Her writing style is effective enough, but doesn't stand out.
