New characters are emerging more and more. Sometimes, I also miss the old characters. Hhe.

Akira and Hikaru suddenly changed their personalities in the Honibo League that they each participated in. Akira was confused when facing Ogata Kisei Dan 10. Meanwhile, Hikaru was also confused when playing against Morishita-sensei Dan 9. XDD

The appearance of new characters brings新鲜感 and excitement to the story. It makes the plot more diverse and interesting. However, the old characters also hold a special place in our hearts. They have accompanied us through many wonderful moments.

In the case of Akira and Hikaru, their sudden change in personality adds an element of mystery and surprise. We wonder what led to this change and how it will affect their future in the league. Their confusion when facing strong opponents also shows their growth and challenges.

Overall, the combination of new and old characters, as well as the changes in the characters' personalities, makes the story of the Honibo League even more engaging and captivating.

Basically at this point,

if you're still reading, it's because Hotta's characters have held your attention well enough that you want to keep following them.

I'm honestly not certain what else to say beyond that.

It's not a stunning volume, so 4 not 5, but it's pretty darned good.

The story has its own charm and the way the characters are developed makes it engaging.

You can't help but be interested in what will happen to them next.

And that's why I'll go out and chase the 21st immediately.

I'm eager to see how the story progresses and what new adventures the characters will embark on.

Overall, it's a great read and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys this type of literature.

I rate this 2.5 stars.

Besides the issues I pointed out in my reading update of this book, I'm also frustrated by the fact that they continuously describe a player as "strong" when they actually mean "good". Why not simply say, "this player is really good"? You can't claim someone is "strong" in an area that doesn't necessitate physical strength. Of course, there is emotional strength, but I don't believe that's what they imply when they say a player is "strong". For example, saying Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach is a really strong fighter or that Natsu Dragneel's magic is really strong makes much more sense than saying Hikaru Shindo is a strong go player.

Another drawback of this volume is that the preliminaries for the last two spots in the Japan-Korea-China competition seemed to take an excessively long time, and some of the chapters in this volume were completely unnecessary. In fact, it would have been better to omit the preliminaries altogether because it was obvious who the other two players would end up being.

Throughout the last few volumes and this one, I constantly thought, "Maybe I should dnf this series and sell my Hikaru no Go series collection." However, now that I only have 3 volumes (24 chapters and 2 bonus chapters) left to read, I might as well finish the series.

I have to say,

I think this has been my favorite volume so far.

The reason is that they are finally delving into real tournaments, which adds a new layer of excitement and authenticity to the story.

Although I do miss Sai to some extent, I kind of like that Hikaru is now on his own.

This gives him the opportunity to grow and develop as a player in his own unique way.

Moreover, the story involving the Kansai Kiin player was not only cool but also highly dramatic.

It added an element of mystery and tension that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the volume.

Overall, this volume has been a great read and I can't wait to see what happens next in Hikaru's journey.

This tankobon delves deep into the First and Second Preliminary Rounds for the Hokuto Cup Team Selection Tournament.

As a Junior Tournament, the number of candidates to participate is relatively small. However, what makes these preliminaries fascinating is how they subtly introduce the other branches of the Japanese Go Institute, namely the Kansai and Central branches, as well as the other Go Institute in Japan - the Kansai Institute.

Kiyoharu Yashiro is introduced in this tankobon and graces the cover. He has just turned pro and has yet to play any official games. But Hikaru Shindo discovers that he loves to play unconventional and interesting hands on the goban, which Shindo is eager to play against. Similarly, Yashiro becomes intrigued by Shindo after watching his preliminary match.

By a twist of fate, Yashiro and Shindo do indeed face each other in the Finals for one of the two open spots. As Shindo hoped, Yashiro did play an interesting, albeit unconventional hand, just not the one he was anticipating. In response, Shindo counters with a hand just as interesting and unconventional. Not to be outdone, Yashiro responds in kind, resulting in a messy, brutal, but highly interesting game that is left unresolved as a cliff-hanger.

Two notable matches were the parallel ones of Shindo vs. Morishita Shigeo, the leader of his study group, and Akira Toya vs. Seiji Ogata, the highest ranking professional in his study group. They both lost their games, but they soon realize that playing a game without the pressure of a tournament is a completely different experience than a casual pick-up game.

All in all, I truly appreciate the direction that this tankobon has taken us. It expands the Go World further by introducing the Kansai Institute and other smaller branches of the Japanese Go Institute. It also introduces new characters, and we get to see Hon Suyon again.

Basically just going through the motions at this point.

Every day seems to be a repetition of the same old routine. Wake up, go to work or school, do the tasks assigned, and then come back home. There is no real passion or excitement in what we are doing.

We are just existing, not really living. Our hearts are not fully engaged in the activities we undertake. It feels as if we are on autopilot, following the steps without really thinking about why.

This kind of life can be very draining and unfulfilling. We need to find something that truly interests us, something that makes us feel alive. Maybe it's a new hobby, a different job, or a change in our lifestyle.

We should not be content with just going through the motions. We deserve to have a life that is full of purpose and meaning. Let's break free from this monotony and start living the life we truly want.

So we have now reached the final arc of the series. Just like the earlier multi-volume pro-test arc, this one is a series of qualifiers leading up to the Japan-Korea-China Junior Tournament. I would be truly amazed if Akira and Hikaru aren't both members of the Japan team. This volume manages to make each game tense, similar to some of the better volumes earlier in the series.

The "threat" presented is rather gimmicky. Since we are already familiar with the established players in Hikaru's league, Hotta introduces the Kansai Go League and yet another brash new player to be Hikaru's major "boss fight." He is a fifteen-year-old named Kiyoharu Yashiro. He has bleached white hair and makes "stunt" moves like playing tengen (the center star point) as his first move.

On one hand, this isn't terribly original storytelling. Hotta is simply following the Pokemon/Dragonball pattern, where new opponents with some new trick up their sleeve are continuously brought in to challenge the main character. It's especially difficult to do this with go, as there are only so many "tricks" that can realistically be depicted in a go game. But I still liked it, even though the outcome is almost a foregone conclusion.

This late in the series, more go terms are being used, so while you don't necessarily need to be a good player to follow the story, it definitely helps to have learned the basics by now.

The other final match is between Ochi and Waya. Ochi has always been an annoying little punk, and I greatly enjoyed seeing him called a "four-eyed little mushroom."

Meanwhile, we see more evidence that Ogata 9-dan is turning into an egotistical jackass.

So, there is a bit of character development and some exciting go. I don't think Hotta can keep creating these "Most Exciting Go Ever!" moments out of thin air, but there are only four volumes left.

Incidentally, this volume is where Hikaru graduates from middle school. However, he's not going to high school since he's already making a living as a go professional. And perhaps we have seen the last of Akari. It's too bad that Hotta seems not to intend to develop any kind of subplot involving Hikaru's non-go personal life.

Yashiro is truly a source of entertainment for me.

Every time I watch him play, his game play is just so chaotic that it never fails to crack me up.

He seems to have his own unique style, which is a combination of randomness and aggression.

Sometimes he makes moves that I would never even think of, and yet somehow they manage to work out for him.

It's like he's playing by his own rules, and it's both hilarious and impressive at the same time.

Even when he's losing, he still manages to keep a sense of humor and make the whole experience enjoyable for his viewers.

I can't wait to see what crazy things he'll do in his next game.

The suspense is truly killing me!

I had this nagging feeling all along that I should have checked out those other three volumes.

Now, I'm left here wondering what secrets and adventures lie within their pages.

Every time I think about it, my curiosity grows stronger.

What if there are crucial plot twists or character developments that I'm missing out on?

I can't help but imagine all the possibilities.

Maybe the story takes a completely unexpected turn in those volumes.

Perhaps there are hidden clues that will shed light on the mysteries that have been building up.

I regret not taking the opportunity to explore those other books when I had the chance.

Now, I'm left in a state of anticipation, eager to find out what I've been missing.

The suspense is like a ticking time bomb, and I can't wait to defuse it by getting my hands on those volumes and finally satisfying my curiosity.

New characters are emerging one after another.

There is a sense of loneliness. It seems that the end is approaching soon.

This volume is a bit strange. Suddenly, in the middle, the quality of the paper has changed and it is also colored. Why?

In the last part, both Akira and Hikaru have suddenly changed their personalities. Akira experienced something with Mr. Ogata and became confused. Why? Akira is usually calm when dealing with others except Hikaru. Hikaru also became confused when experiencing something with Mr. Morishita. Why? Hikaru is always optimistic. Why did he suddenly become desperate?

These changes make the story more unpredictable and interesting, but at the same time, they also make the readers feel a bit lost. We wonder what will happen next and how the story will end.

Hikaru and Akira are graduating.

This is a touching chapter. It's as if they are going through a rite of passage into the "adult world" that they have thrust themselves into due to their craziness for Go.

Then, the club makes things interesting. Ah! And what a wonderful way to end this volume!

I must start the next volume immediately.

The story of Hikaru and Akira's growth in the world of Go is truly captivating. Their passion and dedication have led them to this point of graduation, and it's both exciting and a little bittersweet.

The addition of the club's activities adds another layer of depth and interest to the story.

I can't wait to see what adventures and challenges await them in the next volume.

Will they continue to shine in the world of Go? Or will they face new obstacles and setbacks?

Only time will tell, but I'm sure it will be an amazing journey.
