This book was an absolutely fantastic read. Anyone familiar with Warren Buffett and his annual stockholder letters already know that they are a wealth of investing wisdom. This book takes the content of those letters to the next level.

These essays take all of the annual letters that Warren has written during his time with Berkshire, separates portions of those letters by content, and then groups those portions together as topical essays. Because you are presented with a categorized summary of investing subjects in Buffett's own words, you end up getting incredibly potent, understandable teaching on a large number of investing subjects from one of the best sources of knowledge available today.

This will probably end up being one of the books I recommend to anyone seriously interested in investment.

One of my favorite value investing books. Not only does Warren Buffett say that you are an owner of a company when you buy a share but he does a great job at explaining why you should think of yourself as an owner of the company when you buy a share.

Nothing exhilarating but a lot of common sense from the goats, enjoyable especially just on certain sections and how they hate the way companies have come to treat stuff like sbc and normalizing things

This book explained how Warren runnings his company, buy, sell and acquisition process from Warren and Charlie eyes. Also understanding the proper roles of managers and shareholders, finance, mergers, valuation, and accounting

The key to successful investing, Buffett is to purchase shares in good businesses at times when market prices are at a large discount from business values.

Buffet and Charlir equity-investing strategy remains little changed which is

(a) that we can understand;
(b) with favorable long-term prospects;
(c) operated by honest and competent people; and
(d) available at a very attractive price

Unbelievable this is publicly available and free. Crash course in not just investing, but developing an emotional posture toward good decisionmaking. A brilliant mixture of psychology, accounting, business, and even some philosophy. Long-only, concentrated, permanent.

This book is a composition of Warren Buffets own views, and crystallized his investment and management philosophy for me in a way that I hadn't fully understood before. Other than a few quotes, everything I knew about Warren Buffet was learned second hand from other authors, but this book was a relatively undoctored account of the workings of Berkshire Hathaway and value investing philosophy. Berkshire Hathaway's structure and philosophy is quite unique, and made me think about corporate governance and personal finance from a different perspective. 4.5 stars for narrative and content, 3.5 stars for writing because it is bit of a slog.

Invest in businesses you understand, invest long term, and don't pull cheap tricks with other people's money. This book is a breath of fresh air among the get rich fast motivational garbage that passes for financial advice in the genre. Highly recommended.

Like any other book in the value investing style (Buffett himself disregards the classification, saying that growth is a portion of value) The Essays of Warren Buffett took me a long time to read and think. While I have huge respect for Mr. Buffett, I like this book much less than other investment books, such as Margin of Safety by Seth Klarman or the Most Important Things by Howard Marks. Maybe because Buffett never intended his newsletters to be compiled into a single book. Prof. Cunningham surely did a great job of collecting and sorting the essays (or some paragraphs in Buffett's newsletters) into relevant topics, but still, this book lacks something.

An absolute ripper. Whilst a little bit of the material was irrelevant for my personal situation, I found the compilation to be highly educational and an excellent glimpse into the business and investment philosophy of Buffet. Highly recommend to anyone considering any form of financial investment.
