Noriko discovers her extraordinary power that enables her to communicate with Izark telepathically. Meanwhile, Gaya and Agol formulate a plan to liberate Izark from Lord Naga's grasp. The group then ventures into the White Mist forest, a place where no travelers have ever survived the journey.

As a middle school student, I wasn't overly fond of this series. Noriko seemed too whiny and ineffective. However, upon rereading it as an adult, I came to appreciate her flaws. Now that she has been in the new world for three months, she has a basic understanding of the language and can engage in short, concise conversations. Hooray for realistic language learning! In volume three, Noriko accidentally refers to Izark as "honey," and ever since then, the other characters have been speculating about their relationship. The true romance commences in this volume when Izark realizes that it has been two days since he last saw her, and yet, he misses her. Kyoko Hikawa has masterfully crafted the romance, not overwhelming the readers but allowing it to unfold gradually and incrementally.

Noriko's character growth occurs with her realization of her telepathic communication ability with Izark. When she ascertains that she isn't hallucinating, what does she do? She resolves to develop this telepathic power. Noriko doesn't complain about being separated from Izark. She doesn't panic. Instead, she utilizes her ability to inform Izark that she and Auntie are in the vicinity. Realistic and strong, she has evolved significantly from the girl who wept every time something went awry.

Izark also experiences some character development in this volume with his decision to stay and engage in the seemingly impossible tourney battle, as well as in his anger when being called a "monster." The reason for his supernatural powers is hinted at; Noriko is related to him, and he isn't certain if it's a good idea for them to stay together, despite not wanting to part.

Unfortunately, the villains remain as simplistic as ever. Lord Nada is evil simply for the sake of being evil; there is nothing complex or nuanced about his character. Hopefully, future volumes will expand upon the villains. Currently, this is pardonable given the intricate world-building and realistic characters.

Oh wow, this volume is truly awesome!

Lots of action-packed scenes and an eerie atmosphere make it a real page-turner. I find myself on the edge of my seat for most of the time while reading it.

The power of the awakening is gradually revealing itself, adding an element of mystery and excitement to the story.

Moreover, there are new and interesting characters introduced. Adorable Geena, the seer, and her dad bring a fresh perspective, and many other good guys are joining the troop, strengthening the alliance and making the story more engaging.

Overall, this is by far my favorite volume. It has everything I look for in a good book - action, mystery, and great characters. I can't wait to see what happens next in the series.

Can you see it? This is the world of light. Everything has become one in light. I entered the world of light and I found you.

Do you understand? We are the world of light. This is what we have been searching for. I feel a gentle energy that embraces everything. And this energy can be felt anywhere, anytime as long as you open yourself to it.

Kanata Kara by Kyoko Hikawa has been my most favorite Shoujo Manga since the early 90s till today, and I know it will stay as my most favorite for years to come. It's truly a remarkable piece of work.

Kanata Kara is the only shoujo manga that can come close to shounen manga. Hikawa has a unique talent for beautifully mixing a love story with an interesting adventure and great fighting scenes. Moreover, she also incorporates some good moral lessons in it, which makes it not only entertaining but also thought-provoking.
