For graduate school, I didn't have to read the entire book. Instead, I only read what was necessary. This approach may seem practical, but it also has its drawbacks. By only reading the required parts, I might have missed out on valuable insights and connections that could have enhanced my understanding of the subject. In statistics, for example, a comprehensive understanding of the concepts and their applications is crucial. However, my tendency to focus only on the essentials might have limited my ability to fully grasp the complexity of the field. This could be one of the reasons why I'm not a statistician. I realize that in order to truly excel in a particular discipline, it's important to go beyond the minimum requirements and explore the subject matter in-depth.
