Don't be afraid of discontent. Instead, give it nourishment. Let the spark turn into a flame, and be everlastingly discontented with everything. Be discontented with your jobs, with your families, and with the traditional pursuit of money, position, and power. Only then can you really begin to think and discover. To find out what is true, you must revolt against the established order. However, the more money your parents have, and the more secure your teachers are in their jobs, the less they want you to revolt. So, one must have this total discontent, but with joy. Do you understand? One must be wholly discontented, not complainingly, but with joy, with gaiety, and with love. Most people who are discontented are terrible bores. They are always complaining that something or other is not right, or wishing they were in a better position, or wanting circumstances to be different because their discontent is very superficial. And those who are not discontented at all are already dead. This discontent is not about being negative or unhappy. It is about having a sense of restlessness that drives you to seek something more meaningful and true. It is about challenging the status quo and not settling for what is easy or comfortable. With this kind of discontent, you can break free from the limitations of the established order and discover your own path in life.
