Don't be afraid of discontent. Instead, give it nourishment. Let the spark turn into a flame, and be everlastingly discontented with everything. Be discontented with your jobs, with your families, and with the traditional pursuit of money, position, and power. Only then can you really begin to think and discover.

To find out what is true, you must revolt against the established order. However, the more money your parents have, and the more secure your teachers are in their jobs, the less they want you to revolt.

So, one must have this total discontent, but with joy. Do you understand? One must be wholly discontented, not complainingly, but with joy, with gaiety, and with love. Most people who are discontented are terrible bores. They are always complaining that something or other is not right, or wishing they were in a better position, or wanting circumstances to be different because their discontent is very superficial. And those who are not discontented at all are already dead.

This discontent is not about being negative or unhappy. It is about having a sense of restlessness that drives you to seek something more meaningful and true. It is about challenging the status quo and not settling for what is easy or comfortable. With this kind of discontent, you can break free from the limitations of the established order and discover your own path in life.

This is the second book of his that I have read. Interestingly, I managed to find both of them online in PDF format for free. I simply downloaded them to my iBooks, which has truly been a great gift.

“Do you know what it means to seek permanency? It means desiring the pleasurable to continue indefinitely and longing for that which is not pleasurable to end as quickly as possible. However, you see, life is not like that at all. In fact, life is not permanent. Just like the leaves that fall from a tree, all things are impermanent. Nothing endures forever; there is always change. The reality is that life is like a river: it flows endlessly, constantly seeking, exploring, pushing forward, overflowing its banks, and penetrating every crevice with its water. It never stops, always evolving and changing, just like the world around us.”

At times, I found myself growing frustrated while reading Krishnamurti’s “Think on These Things.” However, I’m truly glad that I persevered and completed it.

Although there might be certain holds and voids in Krishnamurti’s theories, ultimately, his message of love and the search for God is truly uplifting.

The book’s fundamental premise, which is reiterated countless times over its 247 pages, is that we should liberate ourselves from any religion, ideology, belief system, or even past experiences and view reality with a completely open and unclouded mind. He is particularly contemptuous of organized religion.

I can’t help but think that Krishnamurti’s own perceptions were perhaps clouded by his own experiences, especially those related to the religious strife in his native India.

As a Jew, I would be a fool to disregard the wisdom of the prophets and sages and their profound insights into the nature of human existence. Those ancestors have provided us with excellent guideposts to assist us on our own quest for Truth.

I was also not overly impressed with Krishnamurti’s rather vague prescription for societal revolution. While he is undoubtedly correct in stating that “the world is a projection of what is happening inside each one of us,” he fails to describe what a revolution might look like or how it might unfold in a society that engages in mass mindfulness meditation.

Despite these significant limitations, there are still numerous pearls scattered throughout the book.

Krishnamurti does us a great service by reminding us that we can learn – and indeed should learn – from everything: the fallen leaf, the current of the river, the blight of the ghetto, the busy ant.

And who could possibly argue with this: “The moment you have in your heart this extraordinary thing called love and feel the depth, the delight, the ecstasy of it, you will discover that for you the world is transformed.”

Among the most thoughtful and provocative books I have ever read, Krishnamurti's work truly stands out.

In his lectures and responses to school children in India, his brilliant mind is vividly revealed.

The content is absolutely fascinating, presenting a simple yet beautiful vision.

It delves deep into the roots of what is wrong with the world,剖析 the various issues and problems that plague our society.

Moreover, it also offers insights into how these wrongs can be righted, providing possible solutions and paths towards a better world.

Krishnamurti's ideas make us reflect on our own lives and the world around us, and encourage us to take action to bring about positive change.

His work is not only intellectually stimulating but also has the power to touch our hearts and inspire us to strive for a more just and harmonious world.

It is a must-read for anyone who is interested in understanding the human condition and seeking ways to make a difference.

Overall, Krishnamurti's book is a remarkable achievement that will continue to have a profound impact on readers for years to come.

One of the best books I have ever read!! The narration by Mr. Krishna Murti is truly great!!

Although some of the points in the book are different from what I believe, I really like the way he presented them and I respect his opinion!!

I feel that Mr. Krishna Murti and Swamy Vivekananda are like two sides of a coin!! Both of them have their own unique perceptions, but they focus on the same point, which is to inspire the youth and stress on how to leave fear behind and achieve goals!!

In the middle of the book, there were a few chapters that went on with a dull note. However, on the whole, this is one of the best inspiring books that I have come across!! It has the power to make you think, reflect, and take action towards achieving your dreams.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for inspiration and guidance in their lives. It is a must-read for all those who want to make a positive change in the world and in themselves.

This was a life changing event.

His philosophy of freeing your mind to truly see the world around you and not get caught up in the everyday struggles for success and status is something that holds great significance.

In today's fast-paced and competitive world, people often find themselves trapped in the never-ending pursuit of material wealth and social recognition.

However, by following his philosophy, we can break free from these constraints and open our eyes to the beauty and wonder that surrounds us.

It allows us to appreciate the simple things in life, such as a beautiful sunset, a kind gesture from a stranger, or the joy of spending time with loved ones.

Embracing this philosophy can lead to a more fulfilling and meaningful life, as we learn to focus on what truly matters and let go of the things that don't.

Everyone should take the time to consider his ideas and see how they can be applied to their own lives.

By doing so, we can all experience a transformation and discover a new way of looking at the world.

This book presents a plethora of philosophical questions that can have a profound impact on people, and it initiates a conversation about these issues.

These questions encompass the meaning and significance of education to individuals, often focusing on the perspective that Western civilizations impose on other countries.

Other thought processes involved in this conversation include love, the rationality of religion, the differences between knowledge and routine, the purpose of education, and what wisdom truly is.

I find that my favorite discussions center around love, knowledge/wisdom, and education.

The most memorable aspects are that people's education should be a continuous process, as intelligence is an evolving part of the human experience.

Krishnamurti proposes that education should be liberating, yet currently, it seems like a prison for many.

This is an intriguing perspective that I am still reflecting upon. I do concur to some extent, but I also understand how education can be confined and that humans are not machines constantly engaged in learning.

I also agreed with his view on love and the cause of war among people.

I am still assimilating some of his points on these matters, but I firmly believe that his point of view aligns with that of most open-minded individuals.

I would recommend this book to a specific group of people. I struggled with the book as it felt overwhelming with information and dragged on with similar themes towards the end.

I also think it's not suitable for everyone. Although I completed the book, I consider it a rather slow and complex read, and I would have benefited from spending more time on it.

I would like to reread it in the future as one can gain more knowledge by spending more time processing the questions and answering them oneself.

The central idea presented in this book seems to be centered around learning 'how' to think rather than 'what' to think. It's quite ironic when considering the title! :D

Nevertheless, it is a compilation of several of JK's remarkable sessions. He was truly, and in a sense still is, an outstanding teacher. His ability to engage and inspire students was evident in these sessions. The book offers valuable insights and perspectives that can help readers develop their own critical thinking skills. Each session likely contains unique ideas and discussions that encourage readers to question and explore different ways of looking at things. Whether you're a student, a teacher, or simply someone interested in improving your thinking abilities, this book could be a worthwhile read. It provides a platform for readers to learn from JK's experiences and teachings, and to apply those lessons to their own lives.

In conclusion, despite the irony in the title, this book offers a wealth of knowledge and inspiration for those who are willing to engage with it.

Wonderfully thought-provoking, sometimes infuriatingly so!

Krishnamurti's mission is no less than the purging of the self from our thinking. This is much more a "how to think" than a "what to do" book. The chapters are structured as Q & A sessions between Krishnamurti and his students, which makes them all the more readable.

Interestingly, Krishnamurti's teachings do not reduce well to soundbites. There are no witty aphorisms here. It is his steady, unwavering gaze into the workings of the mind that makes him indispensable.

His ideas challenge our preconceived notions and force us to question the very basis of our thinking. By purging the self, he aims to free us from the limitations and biases that prevent us from seeing the truth.

The Q & A format allows for a more in-depth exploration of the topics, as Krishnamurti patiently answers the students' questions and guides them towards a deeper understanding.

Overall, this book is a must-read for anyone who is serious about self-discovery and wants to learn how to think more clearly and objectively.
