When my brain turns to mush,

I often find myself in a state of confusion and disorientation.

Thoughts seem to jumble together, and it becomes difficult to make sense of the world around me.

However, there is one thing that has the power to bring clarity and understanding back into my life - reading this particular piece of writing.

As I begin to read, the words seem to work their magic.

They untangle the knots in my mind and present ideas in a clear and logical manner.

Suddenly, everything makes sense again.

The fog that had clouded my thinking lifts, and I am able to see things from a new perspective.

It's as if a light has been turned on in a dark room, and I can now navigate my way through the chaos with ease.

This simple act of reading has become my salvation, a source of comfort and inspiration whenever my brain feels like it's about to give up.

I want to give this book a 4.5 rating. However, since the options are only 4 or 5, I decided to mark it as 4.

I was eager to read this book due to my interest in spirituality and in search of answers to why there is fear, anxiety, and grief in our minds. What can we do to find solutions to these very common experiences that almost every human being has endured?

J. Krishnamurti's response to many such questions is the necessity of doing everything in this world out of pure love and dedication, rather than out of ambition, the need to feel secure, greed, or the desire to be famous. The sole answer to all of humanity's misery is to let go of the ego and seek the truth, which is love.

He also discusses how discipline, rules, organizations, and corporates make human beings dull and cause them to lose their awareness because we have begun to do things out of compulsion or out of any kind of ambition - it could be the compulsion to do a job, earn money, gain fame, or obtain respect. We all have very different definitions of success. According to J. Krishnamurti, being able to live alone with our thoughts and with love is the true success.

This book has provided me with many profound insights and has made me reflect deeply on my own life and the way I approach things. It has challenged my existing beliefs and has encouraged me to look at the world from a different perspective. Overall, I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in spirituality and self-discovery.

I never thought I'd be able to select just one book for the desert island scenario. But here it is, without a doubt the best book ever. It's not just a book; it's a source of medicine for my soul.

Every time I pick it up and start reading, I'm transported to a different world, a world filled with adventure, excitement, and inspiration. The words on the pages seem to come alive, painting vivid pictures in my mind.

I find myself getting lost in the story, completely forgetting about the real world around me. And when I finish reading, I always feel a sense of peace and contentment.

Re-reading this book is like visiting an old friend. I know the story so well, but I still discover new things each time. It's a book that I can read over and over again, and it never gets old.

This book is truly a treasure, and I'm so glad to have found it. It's the one thing that I would take with me to a desert island, and I know it would keep me company and keep my spirits high.

J. Krishnamurti is truly one of the select few individuals who have exerted a profound influence on my life through the power of his words.

This particular book stands out as one of his finest works.

I had the opportunity to utilize it for teaching English to school students, and to my pleasant surprise, I discovered that its language was even simpler than that of a Standard 5 English textbook.

What makes Krishnamurti's writing so remarkable is that he addresses the crucial issues of life in a language that is accessible even to those at a relatively early stage of learning English.

His insights into the human mind are not only extremely penetrating but also, at times, quite disturbing. However, they always have a healing quality to them.

I wholeheartedly suggest that everyone take the time to read his works and experience the wisdom and inspiration that they offer.

It is an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

Krishnamurti is timeless.

We have constructed a philosophy that revolves around difficulty. We view making an effort, engaging in a struggle, and opposing as virtues. However, the person who is truly filled with joy is not ensnared in a struggle. Ceaseless struggle only squanders energy. If you are constantly struggling, you cannot calm your mind. And it is only within a very quiet mind that great things come into being. A quiet mind has the freedom to examine a problem, and the problem itself will disclose the answer.

When learning is merely a means to reach a particular destination, the moment you have arrived at where you desire to go, you forget the means. And surely, that is not learning at all. Utilize your mind to uncover what you wish to do in life - what you truly want to do, not what society or some ideal dictates you should do. Discard all ideals, let them sink in the river, toss them into the waste paper basket, and commence with what you are - but what is that?

When the inquisitiveness of your mind knows no bounds, then there can be no death. The challenge lies in freeing the mind from the known so that it can continuously discover what is new. If you dedicate your entire being to this inquiry, then you are a revolutionary. Then you possess the confidence to create, to be who you are, and within that there is an ever-renewing vitality. This is Montaigne's "que sais-je?".

Someone who claims they "know" is already lifeless. But the one who thinks, 'I don't know,' who is constantly discovering, finding out, who is not in pursuit of an end, not thinking in terms of arriving or becoming - such a person is alive, and that living is the truth.

Krishnamurti's work is often regarded as

weirdly organized and frankly quite repetitive. However, it cannot be denied that he has a very clear and sharp perspective on modern society.

For the past year, I have been dwelling on his idea that we are all excessively ruled by fear and not enough by love.

On an individual level, his writings can be a motivating read, inspiring one to look within and question the status quo.

Yet, on a societal level, they sometimes induce a sense of hopelessness.

According to Krishnamurti, meditation is the key to freedom, joy, and a fulfilling life.

It is through meditation that we can quiet the mind, become aware of our fears and limitations, and ultimately break free from them.

While his ideas may seem radical and challenging, they offer a unique and thought-provoking perspective on the human condition.

Whether one agrees or disagrees with him, Krishnamurti's work is sure to spark a conversation and encourage us to think more deeply about the world we live in.

I won't pretend to know everything Krishnamurti said, but I don't think that was the point anyway.

This book is a tidy compilation of treatises on a variety of subjects, with a great proportion dedicated to society and constraints. Fundamentally, the author values individuality: revolt, rebellion, thinking for yourself, being free, unchained, disciplined to the self, etc. In this, I find great resonance.

However, the author clearly has his own chains, but he fails to see them. In his own way, he has rebelled so hard that he has fallen onto the other path. He rejects all social conventions, in a way, but his own rigidity to certain ideas makes his conclusions dubious (even if his methods are laudable).

This book may be helpful to very many, so long as you apply the author's teachings to his book.

I can't rate this higher because I think too many people would read this and think that this applies to them in a way that it doesn't, because it doesn't. The context in which it was said, and the things Krishnamurti fought against are very different than the modern, albeit very similar as well. For one, many of the words he uses have a very different context in America or even the English language generally. Religion, for example, is confused with spirituality and faith; knowledge and intelligence are very confused with wisdom and understanding. Beyond semantics, there is a clear undertone of the book that really embraces that which he claims to be against.

This is all to say that I find this a fascinating character study and useful in gaining a different perspective. However, I fear others might take it too literally, and I find the author's own issues to be a little off-putting and, quite frankly, boring at times. It's important to approach this book with a critical eye and not simply accept everything the author says at face value. By doing so, we can gain a deeper understanding of the ideas presented and perhaps even apply some of them to our own lives in a meaningful way.

I rarely, if ever, write any reviews for the books I read.

However, I figured I would start with this one.

I will not claim that I have fully grasped all the concepts and ideas that J. Krishnamurti introduces in this book.

In fact, I do not recommend reading this book if your sole intention is to acquire some new information or knowledge.

As the title of the book suggests, the book encourages you to question things, and to no longer accept at face value many of the things we experience in our daily lives.

Krishnamurti offers no silver bullet, no program or self-help course for bettering your life.

However, what he offers is insight, a different perspective on investigating your life.

This book may not be for everyone, but if you are willing to question everything that defines you - all your motivations, your beliefs, and find out for yourself what living can be about - then I cannot recommend this book enough.

It challenges you to look beyond the surface and explore the deeper meaning and purpose of life.

It makes you think about the things you take for granted and forces you to reevaluate your assumptions.

By doing so, it can open up new possibilities and help you to live a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

So, if you are ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery and are willing to question the status quo, then this book is definitely worth a read.

This book is a compilation of question-answer sessions featuring the Indian guru Jiddu Krishnamurti. I was initially not well-acquainted with his persona. However, as I delved into the book, the reader rapidly forms an impression of the character of his unwavering inquiring mind. In fact, it truly appears that approximately half of the book's sentences are questions (he has a penchant for answering questions with questions) for the reader to deeply contemplate - just as the title suggests. Regrettably, the concepts put forward did not offer anything novel to me, and the book seemed overly long and repetitive in my opinion (I surmise this is because it is a recapitulation of actual Q&A sessions).

Nonetheless, I was drawn to Jiddu's perspective on society as a whole and life itself. I concur with his belief that a person can glean the most knowledge by examining their own mind and by inquiring into everything, even those things that ordinary individuals might consider obvious or inconsequential. It is this aspect of his teachings that I found most appealing and thought-provoking.

The man has truly changed my life. His profound words have not only confirmed what I've already been learning but also provided me with a deeper logic and the much-needed encouragement to continuously break free from dogmatism, brainwashing, and the real "Matrix," that is, "the world that is pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth" (as Wachowski put it).

Everything we know and all that we believe passes through our perception of reality. The issue is that from childhood, we are taught by our parents, our culture, our environment, and the sub-cultures we choose what is real and what is true. These paradigms prevent us from seeing the truth, which must be discerned in the moment.

A practical way to discover this truth is through meditation. Krishnamurti believed that a person who does not meditate is not a complete person. He describes meditation as simply being still and observing your thoughts, without controlling them, without judging them, and without thinking you should or should not be thinking that way. It's like clouds floating in the sky or a movie or show that you are watching from outside of yourself. In the act of seeing what is real, change occurs.

"Do, or do not. There is no try" (George Lucas). Yoda said that, but in this book, I learned that Krishnamurti said it first.

I highly recommend reading Krishnamurti. It will lead you into a beautiful and life-changing experience, guiding you to initiate freedom simply by seeing and accepting what is real - what is practical and what is common sense.

Krishnamurti is truly the antidote to the Western-style ambition that pervades our society. It's not merely about the pursuit of status-symbol possessions, but rather encompasses the entire concept and enterprise of "success" as defined by the Western world.

This particular book presents itself in the form of a dialogue between a group of children and Krishnamurti. This unique approach makes what he has to convey more accessible and understandable compared to some of his other works.

Through these interactions with the children, Krishnamurti is able to simplify and present his profound ideas in a way that is relatable and engaging. It allows readers, regardless of their age or background, to gain a better understanding of his teachings and perhaps question the traditional notions of ambition and success that we are so often bombarded with.

In a world where the pursuit of material wealth and social status often takes precedence, Krishnamurti's message serves as a valuable reminder to look beyond the surface and seek a more meaningful and fulfilling existence.
