The only way out of our trap of destructiveness is personal change.

And the only way to achieve this change is to observe one's thoughts with a sharp and open mind, and understand how and why one thinks the way one does.

Doing so will assist us in discarding the burdensome loads of useless social and cultural baggage that weigh us down.

This baggage stems from our parents, our culture, our schools, and our religions.

It is precisely this, as Krishnamurti states, that will lead to a revolt, for one will be able to see for the first time that these very pretensions and expectations are the cause of so much conflict and dissension in society.

He is not really asking for much, simply to watch, live, and be in one's own mind.

I believe it is true that we all already possess within us the key to personal transformation; we just cannot see it clearly due to the quagmire of belief.

The antidote to "belief" is experience - I have the experience that 2+2=4, and thus I do not believe it.

Krishnamurti contends that one can experience one's mind by observing, and this will lead to a positive personal transformation.

This liberation, he claims, is what education should primarily focus on.

Ironically, education today does exactly the opposite: it indoctrinates.

Krishnamurti posits that individuals have abundant energy that will be destructive if not dedicated to seeking God.

Consequently, society suppresses that energy and channels it into meaningless activities.

We can only regain that energy by becoming aware of our limitations and redirecting the energy back into seeking God, which I believe is simply watching the mind, as God is man in disguise.

I was introduced to Krishnamurti at a crucial time in my life when I was desperately seeking closure in numerous painful aspects, especially those related to my childhood.

Krishnamurti, in his unique way, made me sit down all by myself. With a gentle yet firm push, he compelled me to look closely at the quiet truths that each of us can access if only we manage to slow down our minds and open our eyes.

Since then, he has been an incredibly significant healer for me. His teachings have had a profound impact on my life, helping me to come to terms with my past and find a sense of peace and acceptance.

I am truly grateful to have been introduced to Krishnamurti and to have had the opportunity to learn from his wisdom and insights.

It may not be the advice you want to read, but it is the advice you need to hear. This simple yet profound statement holds a great deal of truth. In life, we often seek out advice that aligns with our preconceived notions and desires. However, it is the advice that challenges us, makes us think differently, and forces us to step out of our comfort zones that truly has the power to transform us.

Truly one of a few books that has changed my life view, though I still don't know by how much. Reading such a book can be a life-altering experience. It can open our eyes to new perspectives, expand our understanding of the world, and inspire us to make positive changes in our lives. The impact of a good book can be profound and long-lasting, and it is often difficult to measure just how much it has influenced us.

Whether it's through reading a book, listening to a podcast, or having a conversation with a wise person, we should always be open to receiving the advice we need to hear, even if it's not what we want to read or listen to. By doing so, we can continue to grow and evolve as individuals and make the most of our lives.

I would have given it five stars if I could have finished it. Unfortunately, my attention wandered. I believe this was entirely my fault. There were likely many interesting aspects and details within the work that I might have missed due to my lack of focus. It's quite frustrating because I had initially intended to fully engage with it and provide a more comprehensive assessment. However, despite my best efforts, my mind seemed to drift away at times. I hope that in the future, I can improve my concentration and give such works the full attention they deserve. Then, perhaps, I will be able to truly appreciate and rate them accurately.

I possess an older edition of this particular book. It was published way back in 1964.

The pages have turned yellow, bearing witness to the passage of time. There is that distinct and characteristic scent of old paperbacks, which is both nostalgic and comforting.

And then there are the timeless words of Krishnamurti. They have the power to engage and inspire, no matter how many times one reads them.

Together, these elements make this book a wonderful choice for a yearly read. It offers a unique combination of history, aroma, and profound wisdom that never gets old.

Each time I pick it up, I am transported to a different world, a world of thought-provoking ideas and spiritual enlightenment.

It is truly a treasure that I cherish and look forward to revisiting every year.

This book, even if it were more understandable, presents its conversations to me like a person who has been trained in the face of all kinds of events. Because no matter how much one may not want to listen, it is telling something; no matter how much one may not want to be a teacher, it is teaching, and no matter how much it may say that it should be learned not from anything but from observation, by telling these things, it is not allowing. I think the urge to be aware is not left behind...

After it said that, looking for a while, of course, nice feelings will pass through my heart.

No wonder Krishnamurti didn't have a huge following. He was an extremely brilliant, deeply thought-provoking, highly intellectual, and a spiritual teacher who didn't have a great affinity for God.

If you desire to have your views challenged, it is advisable to read this man who undoubtedly possessed one of the finest minds of the 21st century.

Although it is inappropriate to categorize him, if one were to do so, Krishnamurti could be considered a Buddhist who had an overdose of Buddha's teachings.

PS (1). Indeed, it is true that Krishnamurti would have detested this review. He firmly believed in not making comparisons and would have been embarrassed to read this five-star review.

PS (2). Krishnamurti was also a humble individual. So, what is there not to like about this remarkable man?

PS (3) Eckhart Tolle is a fan of Krishnamurti. And rightfully so.

PS (4) There is no need to purchase this book. You can easily read it online.

In this magnificent book, K delves into the true essence of education and emphasizes the urgent need for a revolution in the current educational system.

The genuine purpose of education, as K contends, is to furnish students with an environment that is devoid of fear, enabling them to explore and inquire freely, rather than forcing them into a rigid pattern that suppresses their potential for revolt against society or for making novel discoveries.

Certainly, education should also equip students with the finest instructions and subject matter expertise, thereby empowering them to construct new things and nurturing their curiosity.

This book is a compilation of K's dialogues with kids, in which he answers their most fundamental questions with the simplest language and profound insights. Spanning 27 chapters, K addresses over 100 questions, such as "Why do we desire to be famous?", "What is shyness?", and "Why am I never content with anything?".

After perusing 5 books by K, I have reached the realization that the answers to these fundamental questions are inherent within the questions themselves and can be unveiled through self-awareness and silent observation.

Although K's language is verbally accessible, it is far more challenging to "feel" it and truly fathom its profound significance.

I would wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in seeking answers to the crucial questions that pertain to human lives. However, do not anticipate "how-to" solutions, for there are none.

Do not be misled by its simplicity and assume it lacks depth. In fact, this book is a must-read for everyone. Its insights are presented in a simple yet profound manner. It doesn't demand a great deal of context or academic knowledge, which only serves to make it even more profound.

All too often, accessible books are of poor quality and seem like recycled ideas. However, this book is refreshingly original. It will reignite the questions that have always lingered within you but were perhaps suppressed by the pressures of life and society.

It won't provide the answers to those questions, nor should it. Instead, it will gently encourage you to start inquiring once again. This book has the power to make you think, question, and explore, opening up new perspectives and possibilities. It is a truly remarkable piece of work that should not be overlooked.

As a child, Krishnamurti had the truly bizarre experience of being chosen as the spokesperson or messiah of the Theosophists.

However, he later renounced their group. His teachings then centered on mental freedom and non-allegiance to a creed or belief system. He was firmly anti-guru, anti-mantra, and anti-puja.

He taught that the purpose of education is freedom of the mind and that people should do what they love and avoid getting trapped in materialism.

What strikes me as highly ironic is that in today's world, higher and formal education is closely intertwined with materialism.

So many people who pursue a college education end up being in debt for a few years' worth of gross income by the time they obtain a degree.

Consequently, education and freedom seem to be deeply divided at this particular point in time.

Getting a degree often means that your freedom is diminished and you are shackled by debt.

The question then arises: How can we reclaim education so that it truly leads to freedom?

Perhaps we need to reevaluate the current educational system and find ways to decouple it from the grip of materialism.

Maybe we should focus more on providing students with the tools and knowledge they need to pursue their passions and achieve mental freedom, rather than simply emphasizing the acquisition of a degree and the associated financial burden.

This could involve changes in curriculum, teaching methods, and the way we view the value of education.

It won't be an easy task, but it is essential if we want to ensure that education truly serves its purpose of leading people to freedom.
