Imagine a man who writes as if he were there, trying to make the story interesting or even funny. What should one think of someone who finds Socrates "sympathetic"? It's quite a curious situation. This man seems to have a unique perspective on history. Maybe he has some wild imagination that allows him to bring the past to life in a rather entertaining way. But finding Socrates sympathetic? That's an interesting take. Socrates is a well-known figure in history, and different people have different opinions about him. Some might see him as a wise philosopher, while others might have a more critical view. But this man, with his claim of finding Socrates sympathetic, adds a new dimension to the discussion. It makes us wonder what exactly it is about Socrates that he finds so appealing. Maybe it's his teachings, his way of life, or something else entirely. Only this man truly knows.

It offers a comprehensive and accessible overview of the fundamental ideas and thinkers of this important period.

The content is presented in a clear and engaging manner, making it suitable for both students and general readers.

BTW, it's important to note that the ISBN 0330311174 (ISBN 13: 9780330311175) refers to the Paperback edition, not the Hardcover.

De Crescenzo in this text uses a language that is truly accessible to all. By adding some philosophers encountered in his life journey among the "classical" philosophers, he makes the text unique and even more pleasant to read. It is interesting to see how he weaves together different philosophical ideas and perspectives.

Moreover, it is important to note that I am not a critic, let alone a skilled reader. The comments are made by an engineer who likes to read from time to time and has never excelled in "Italian and literature" at school. However, despite this, I can still appreciate the value and charm of De Crescenzo's work.

Overall, this text offers a refreshing and engaging look at philosophy, making it accessible to a wide range of readers. It is a great example of how philosophy can be presented in a way that is both understandable and enjoyable.

De Cresceszo presents us with a short but anecdote-rich story about the pre-Socratic philosophers in a very cheerful, almost playful way. It turned out to be a very pleasant and smooth reading.

The author's light-hearted approach makes the complex and often abstract ideas of the pre-Socratic philosophers more accessible and engaging. We are taken on a journey through the thoughts and musings of these early thinkers, learning about their unique perspectives on the nature of reality, the universe, and human existence.

Despite the brevity of the story, De Cresceszo manages to pack in a wealth of interesting details and tidbits. We get a sense of the personalities and quirks of the different philosophers, as well as the historical and cultural context in which they lived. It's a fascinating glimpse into a bygone era of intellectual inquiry.

Overall, this is a charming and enjoyable read that would appeal to anyone with an interest in philosophy, history, or simply a good story. De Cresceszo has a talent for bringing these ancient ideas to life in a way that is both informative and entertaining.
