So many individuals long to be able to receive communication from God, yet they are uncertain about the proper way to hear His voice. Joyce Meyer is an outstanding teacher! She simplifies the concept and supports it all with scripture throughout the book, almost on every single page. I have underlined numerous things in this book, to the extent that I believe there is writing on nearly every page as well. God is constantly speaking to us, but all too often, we are overly occupied to be able to listen. By comprehending all the diverse ways in which God speaks, it becomes more straightforward to hear Him (such as through scripture, conscious thoughts, prayer, words from others, and so on). Joyce also shares some of the obstacles in our lives that prevent us from hearing from God. With her wonderful sense of humor and bold examples from her own life, showing how she has made mistakes, she assists the reader in realizing that hearing from God is achievable for anyone.

I would highly recommend reading this book as part of a Women's Bible Study. It is far more enriching to share experiences with one another regarding how God speaks to each of us differently, and it is extremely encouraging to hear all the stories about how He works in the lives of those around us.

I read this book with a group of approximately 30 women. We discovered that it was effective in a 6-week session (a kick-off session to distribute the books, followed by 5 weeks of study and discussion: Chapters 1 - 3, 4 - 6, 7 - 9, 10 - 12, and 13 - 14, with a final celebration).

We found it beneficial to summarize the learning each week in a large group and then break into three separate small groups to discuss the individual questions at the end of each chapter. It was truly a remarkable study. We learned an abundance, developed a deeper relationship with God, and formed such special friendships along the way. During the course of the study, it was truly astonishing to witness all the different ways that God spoke to each of us! I would highly recommend it for either reading independently to strengthen your personal walk with God or for providing truly rich content for a Bible Study. I don't think you will be disappointed!
