Joyce Meyer embarks on a profound spiritual odyssey within our own minds.

She presents us with vivid examples from our families and real-life relationships, highlighting the insidious vicious cycle. Our negative thought processes have a direct impact on our lives, leading to a downward spiral.

Our thoughts act as the catalysts that trigger our feelings. These feelings, in turn, give rise to powerful urges. And these urges ultimately motivate our behaviors.

It's truly that straightforward. Meyer, with her wisdom and guidance, assists us in dismantling the mental strongholds that many of us have unconsciously erected and maintained for far too long.

These strongholds have been acting as barriers, preventing us from forging an intimate and meaningful relationship with God.

By understanding this cycle and learning to break free from it, we can begin to transform our lives and draw closer to the divine.

I read this as my "A book your mom loves" PopSugar reading challenge.

At first, I hesitated to rate it. After all, for what it is, it's actually fine. It has its own charm and functionality.

I can clearly see how it appeals to and provides great help to certain believers. It seems to offer them a source of inspiration, guidance, and comfort.

However, I must admit that I am not the intended audience for this book. My personal beliefs and interests are quite different, and thus, I may not fully appreciate or understand the full depth and significance of the content.

Nevertheless, I respect the fact that this book has its place and value for those who it is meant for. It's important to recognize that different people have different needs and preferences when it comes to reading materials.

Overall, while this book may not be a perfect fit for me, I can still see its merits and the positive impact it can have on others.

If you have heard it once you've heard it twice, the battle of sin starts in the mind. It is an absolute truth. If you think about anything long enough, you'll inevitably figure out a way to carry it out. Joyce Meyer truly hits the mark with this remarkable book. If you've got that "stinkin thinkin" that plagues your mind and holds you back, then this is the book that you desperately need. God tells us clearly in His Word that we have the power to control our thoughts. We have the ability to cast down those ungodly imaginations and instead, choose to think on things that are good, lovely, pure, and praiseworthy. This book is like a ministry on paper, guiding us and equipping us to win the battle in our minds and live a life that is pleasing to God.

There are certain religious books that, upon reading, you find yourself in agreement with most of the content, yet you can't help but wish it had been penned by someone else.

That's precisely the sentiment I had regarding this particular work. Meyer is indeed a competent writer, and her work has its charm. However, I couldn't escape the feeling that I was perusing a high school textbook. There were those little text boxes on the side, ensuring that you grasped the crucial elements. Nice, bold headings were present, clearly indicating when new ideas were being introduced. In fact, I almost expected to find a glossary at the back. There were numerous excellent ideas and nascent concepts here. Meyer truly has some significant things to convey, and I wholeheartedly believe that the way you think has a profound impact on the way you live your life. But that's not the whole story. I think these great ideas were overly simplified to fit into these neatly packaged, bite-sized, fortune cookie-like chapters. And let's face it, great ideas rarely fit neatly into fortune cookies. (Some do, but they are rare, and often paired with lucky numbers that, on a cosmic scale, are far from lucky in the least.) Writing a book on religion and faith is one thing; this, however, felt more like a self-help guide on how to do things.

I'm also not a big fan of how scripture was handled in this book. To be sure, there was a significant amount of it, which is值得称赞. But most of the quotations had numerous variants incorporated or extrapolations within the verses. While other readings are nice, as it's important to remember that translations can completely alter the meaning of a verse, if you're going to use the Bible as an authority, don't add things to it. Even if it's an attempt to clarify, additions only add yet another layer of interpretation to something that already has a great deal of human personality infused in it.

All in all, there are some really solid aspects in this book, and I'm glad I read it. I just don't think I can justify keeping it on my shelves.

Man, what a truly powerful book this is!

I have a profound admiration for Joyce's remarkable transparency. It is truly astonishing how she manages to lay out everything in such a simple and straightforward manner.

Her writing style is like a clear window through which we can see the essence of the story and the characters with utmost clarity.

Every detail is presented with such precision and simplicity that it makes the reading experience not only enjoyable but also deeply engaging.

Joyce's ability to convey complex emotions and ideas in a simple way is truly a gift, and it is this gift that makes her book so powerful and unforgettable.

I find myself constantly drawn back to her words, eager to explore the depths of her story and the beauty of her writing.

This book is not just a collection of words on a page; it is a work of art that has the power to touch our hearts and minds and leave a lasting impression.

I've never read a book like this before.

I swear she was in my head when she wrote this book. It truly made me deeply think about my life and attitude, and it led to significant changes in a lot of ways.

I attended a group class for this at church, and even my husband expressed his gratitude to the two women in charge of the class because this book has had such a profound impact on me.

Previously, when people made me mad, I was quick to open my mouth without thinking. I didn't care what others thought and my way of thinking was focused on how I could get back at them. Yes, I allowed that negative mindset to dwell in my head for 40 years.

Although I'm not 100% cured, I'm at about 75%. It's extremely hard to change old habits overnight.

I would wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who is always negative, quick to judge, or quick to open their mouth.

I used to have a "I don't give a crap" attitude. If you didn't like me, I would tell you not to let the door hit you in the butt on the way out. I was known to be a difficult person and would live up to that reputation.

So, if you want to transform your life and become a happier person, this book is definitely for you.

Brilliant! Amazing! Life changing! These are just a few of the words that come to mind when I think about this book.

Read it and you'll quickly understand why it was on the New York best sellers list for such a long time and why it remains a best seller more than ten years later.

This book is specifically written for those of us who struggle with worry, anxiety, and fears. Let's be honest, that includes all of us at some point in our lives.

It was written by someone who has experienced these very problems and yet managed to fight through and regain control of her mind.

I, like many others, prefer to be taught by someone who has real experience. Joyce Meyer is that person. She understands and describes the feelings and problems in a way that makes you sit up and say, "That's me!" She knows the problem inside out and has a revolutionary approach to fighting back. We have the power to choose what we think. The mind is the ultimate battlefield against the enemy, and for me, I'm fighting for God.

However, this book is not a magic wand. If you think that simply reading it will make all your problems disappear instantly, you're in for a shock. But what it does do is shine a light in the darkness through scripture and God's revelation. It gives you the building blocks you need to destroy those evil thoughts that the enemy uses to control you.

You have to do your part and apply what you've learned every single day. It's a struggle, and I'm not there yet, but I am determined to live the life that Christ died for me to have.

I can't say enough great things about this book. All I can say is, READ IT! and start changing your life with God.

I believe Joyce Meyer's intentions are good. She likely has a desire to help people through her teachings and words. However, in my own life, I have found that a different approach works immeasurably better. Instead of constantly battling things out within myself, I have discovered the power of taking my mind off of myself. When I focus on the needs of others, on the beauty of the world around me, or on a task that requires my full attention, I find that my own problems seem to fade into the background. This doesn't mean that I ignore my issues or pretend they don't exist. It simply means that by shifting my focus, I am able to gain a new perspective and approach my challenges with a clearer mind and a more positive attitude. In the end, I believe that this way of thinking has led to a more fulfilling and meaningful life for me.

This book was a precious gift bestowed upon me by a remarkable woman whom I hold in the highest regard within the realm of faith.

She expressed her sincere wish that she could have had the opportunity to peruse this book prior to her own marriage. With great kindness, she desired to offer those of us to whom she was presenting the book the chance to read it before we embarked on the journey of marriage.

Although I clearly understand how profoundly applicable it is to the institution of marriage, I firmly believe that it contains a message that all of us, as Christians, are in desperate need of.

This book confronted me in numerous ways, yet Meyer employs such a gentle and loving approach when delivering the difficult and essential truths.

I also deeply appreciated the fact that scripture was at the very core throughout the entire book - it was present on nearly every single page.

This book unveiled so many of my flawed thought patterns to me, and it has truly been a source of great blessing.

I wholeheartedly and highly recommend this book to one and all!

When I was a teenager, I found myself in a state of depression.

I summoned up the courage to tell my dad about it and expressed my desire to see a counselor.

However, his response was rather unexpected. Instead of providing the support I had hoped for, he simply handed me a book and claimed that it was all I needed.

While it is true that religion and self-help books can offer some degree of comfort and inspiration, they are by no means a substitute for professional clinical help and therapy.

It's like trying to cover up a serious problem with a mere bandaid. Just as putting a bandaid over a lump won't address the cancer growing beneath it, relying solely on such books won't solve the deep-rooted issues of mental health.

If you are facing difficulties and have the means to consult a professional, it would be a much wiser investment of your time and money.

A trained therapist can provide the necessary guidance, tools, and support to help you navigate through your struggles and find a path towards recovery and well-being.

Don't hesitate to reach out for the help you deserve.

I picked this book up at a thrift store on a hard day. Joyce Meyer has always been someone I've heard has some rather odd theology. However, I was eager to read this particular book because the subject matter is so fascinating to explore.

Also, considering this year and how crazy it has been, I felt that now was the perfect time to embark on this literary journey. It's a relatively easy book to read, which is a plus. I think it mainly focuses on the practical application of looking at verses that explain how our minds can deceive us into believing lies or even Satan's lies.

The chapters are fairly short, and Joyce includes various scriptures to support her points. I really enjoyed her chapters on faith versus doubt in the mind. I also loved the fact that she constantly reminds us that Satan's main target is our minds. These are such good reminders of the importance of cultivating our minds with the right faith attitude.

Overall, I'm finding this book to be a valuable resource in my spiritual growth and understanding. It's making me more aware of the tricks and tactics that the enemy uses to try and lead us astray, and it's equipping me with the tools I need to protect my mind and stay firmly rooted in my faith.
