Her lamp goes not out [warning away fear, doubt, and distrust]. She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her filled hands to the needy [whether in body, mind, or spirit]. She fears not. She makes [clothing like that of the priests and temple]. Her husband is known in the [city's] gates, when he sits among the elders of the land. She sells and delivers clothes. Strength and dignity are her clothing and her position is strong and secure. She rejoices over the future [the latter day or time to come, knowing that she and her family are in readiness for it]. She opens her mouth in skillful and godly wisdom. Her tongue is the law of kindness [giving counsel and instruction]. She looks well to how things go in her household, and the bread of idleness [gossip, discontent, and self-pity] she will not eat. Chapter 6: Overcoming self-doubt

Self-doubt is fear. It is the fear that we will make mistakes or do the wrong thing. Often it involves how people feel totally wrong about themselves. They carry a deep-rooted shame and just can't seem to accept themselves or have confidence in their decision-making ability.

Faith is being confident in God and His word.

"Are you the one who just cost us all that money?" "Well, I just want to congratulate you. If you are making mistakes, that means you are taking risks, and we won't grow unless you take risks." Don't be afraid of making mistakes. You will never succeed without making mistakes and possibly many of them. I believe people give their mistakes more power than they need. We should admit them, repent, and ask God to forgive us for them. We should also learn from our mistakes because by doing so, they can add value to our lives. Instead of allowing mistakes to make you feel guilty and bad, let them be your teacher and always remember that just because you make a mistake does not mean you are a mistake.

Learn to separate your "who" from your "do". Making mistakes is something we do as human beings, but we are still God's children and He has a good plan for our lives. He is long-suffering, plenteous in mercy and filled with loving kindness. (184/530)

Self-doubt is simply the fear of being wrong. God does not want you to live in fear, doubting yourself or doubting Him. (Romans 8:15) Whatever is not of faith is sin (Romans 14:23). Doubt is sin. When we allow doubt and despair and fear to take over, that's when the wall to God's blessings starts going up. Doubt is a fear of negative things happening, but faith expects good things to take place. It actually takes less emotional energy to walk in faith than in doubt and fear.

Joseph was cruelly mistreated by his brothers and they sold him into slavery, but God gave him favor everywhere he went. Ruth, Esther, Daniel and Abraham were also given favor.

Chapter 8: When the World says No

A teacher had a student recite their lesson and he would shout "no". The first student stopped and sat down. The second student continued until he finished. At the end, the teacher congratulated him. The second student was confused because he recited it the same as the first. The teacher said, "It is not enough to know your lesson, you must be sure. When you allowed me to stop you, it meant that you were uncertain."
