The Bronte family has long been a subject of great interest and fascination.

The lives of the Bronte sisters, Charlotte, Emily, and Anne, were filled with both joy and sorrow.

Growing up in a remote parsonage, they faced many challenges and hardships.

However, their love for literature and writing led them to create some of the most enduring works in English literature.

Charlotte's "Jane Eyre," Emily's "Wuthering Heights," and Anne's "Agnes Grey" are all masterpieces that continue to be read and studied today.

The Bronte family's story is one of perseverance, creativity, and the power of the human spirit.

It serves as an inspiration to writers and readers alike, showing that even in the face of adversity, great things can be achieved.

Their lives and works have left an indelible mark on the literary world and will continue to be remembered for generations to come.

Rip Emily Bronte. You would have loved Lana Del Rey. Emily Bronte, with her profound and passionate writing, explored the depths of human emotions and the mysteries of the soul. Lana Del Rey, in a similar vein, weaves her musical tales with a sense of melancholy and a touch of the ethereal. Her lyrics are like poetry, painting vivid pictures of love, loss, and longing. Just as Emily Bronte's works captured the essence of a bygone era, Lana Del Rey's music seems to transport us to a world of her own creation. The two share a commonality in their ability to evoke strong emotions and create a sense of atmosphere. It's as if Lana Del Rey is carrying on the torch of the great literary minds like Emily Bronte, infusing her art with the same depth and beauty.

One of the books that I regularly re-read when I want to deeply connect with what it means to be a writer is "Wuthering Heights". Emily and Charlotte come alive in these pages. Although I don't think Frank is right about how Emily responds to the moors. It is not that she feels insignificant and finds comfort in that. Instead, I would imagine the opposite. Solitude brings with it expansion and a sense of wonder. I'm sure that's what Emily treasured her whole life. Maybe SHE was Heathcliff. That occurred to me this time when re-reading this book again. The moors, with their wild and untamed beauty, seem to be a reflection of Emily's inner world. They are vast and mysterious, just like her imagination. In this story, we see the power of love and hate, and how they can drive people to do the most extreme things. It makes me think about the depth of human emotions and how they can shape our lives. "Wuthering Heights" is not just a story, but a profound exploration of the human condition.

Finally, a different perspective emerges, shining a light on the possibility of Emily's life.

Instead of being confined to the ordinary and expected, Emily's story could take an unexpected turn.

Maybe she discovers a hidden talent or passion that leads her down a new and exciting path.

It could be that she meets someone who changes her outlook on life and helps her see the world in a different way.

Or perhaps a series of events occur that force her to step out of her comfort zone and embrace the unknown.

With this new take, the possibilities for Emily's life seem endless, and we are left to wonder what adventures and experiences await her.

A lot of it just felt like fiction to me.

It was as if I was reading a story that was too good to be true. The events and circumstances seemed so improbable and out of the ordinary.

Maybe it was because my own life was so mundane and ordinary that these things seemed like they belonged in a different world.

But even as I was reading, I couldn't help but be drawn in by the details and the characters.

There was something about the way it was written that made it feel real, even if it was just a work of fiction.

I found myself imagining what it would be like to live in that world, to experience those things for myself.

In the end, I think that's what made it so appealing to me. It was a chance to escape from my own reality and enter into a world of possibility and adventure.

I just loved this.

I know, it might seem like proof of my absolute nerdiness that during the pandemic, I delved into a biography of Emily Bronte.

However, what I discovered was a truly ferocious and uncompromising spirit.

Her intellect was simply astounding.

Moreover, I have always been captivated by the image of her wandering the moors with her giant dog, Keeper.

That could so easily be me, lost in the wild beauty of nature, accompanied only by a loyal companion.

Emily Bronte's story is one that continues to inspire and fascinate me, and I can't wait to explore more of her works and learn even more about her remarkable life.

I look at the adornment and beauty of this world with longing

And I take love to the rock

And the name and voice of passion

In my eyes, there is nothing but dreams and illusions

That change color with the dawn

And if these lips speak of a secret and a need

Other than this murmur of prayer on my lips -

\\"Take this heavy heart away from me

And give me freedom\\"

Oh yes, just as the days of my life

Are stained with haste towards the moments of return

This is what I want on the verge of life and death

In the prison of life and death

Give me my freedom, my dear

And the courage that brings pain

I thought, will I spend the best years of my life in these conditions, burdened with the dragging of this and that, and from seeing the vulgarity, the indistinctness and the stupidity of these base, unworthy and empty-headed people, and from having to bring kind, patient, serious and hardworking people to myself, will my life come to my lips from the intensity of anger but I will not bow my brow? Should I lock myself in this chair with chains and in this four-walled prison and see the sun shining in the summer sky and it is a time of joy and prosperity and every day that comes to an end of the summer days tells me that the opportunity that I am now giving up will never come back to me again?

I picked this up in a charity book shop around 3 years ago.

And it might not have gotten around to reading it if I hadn’t have been inspired by my trip to Haworth.

I generally struggle and get bored quickly with biographies. However, this one is actually beautiful.

It flows just like a story, and although it’s short, it seems to pack a lot in.

There is so much detail, and people, places, and accounts are referenced quite accurately, as it seems to me and as it includes an extensive bibliography.

Admittedly, there is probably a lot more of Charlotte, Ellen Nussey, and Mrs Gaskell in this biography than Emily.

But considering she was such a reclusive and mysterious creature, having destroyed a lot of her manuscripts and correspondences and only one painting of her existing, there isn’t much we know of her, so we are reliant on other accounts.

#QOTD: Are there any other Brontë biographies that you’d recommend worth reading? I’m really interested to read Elizabeth Gaskell’s biography of Charlotte and Daphne du Maurier’s biography of Branwell.

A beautiful and in-depth biography that encompasses the entire Brontë family. At the beginning, I was rather displeased with how the author portrayed Emily as being selfish and spiteful. However, as I delved deeper into the book, I came to realize that this was perhaps just one aspect of her complex personality. Despite this initial reservation, the overall quality of the book was truly wonderful. It provided a detailed and engaging account of the lives and works of the Brontë sisters, as well as their family history and the social context in which they lived. The author's writing was both eloquent and accessible, making it easy for readers to immerse themselves in the world of the Brontës. Overall, this biography is a must-read for anyone interested in the lives and works of these remarkable women.

Frank presents a rather thought-provoking claim that Emily Bronte's imagination was somehow fuelled by anorexia.

This assertion, although plausible on the surface, is extremely difficult to prove.

One can't help but wonder if there could be any truth to it.

Perhaps Emily Bronte's state of mind, influenced by her possible struggle with anorexia, led to a unique way of seeing the world and thus, a more vivid and extraordinary imagination.

However, without concrete evidence, it remains just a fascinating theory.

The idea that a physical condition could have such a profound impact on a writer's creativity is truly interesting reading.

It makes us question the complex relationship between the body and the mind, and how different experiences can shape our artistic expressions.

Whether or not Frank's claim holds any merit, it certainly opens up a new line of discussion about Emily Bronte and her works.
