Ms. Angelou shares a great deal of wisdom in this book. It is truly inspiring. I have a particular fondness for the part where she makes the profound statement, "We need to have the courage to say that obesity is not funny, vulgarity is not amusing, insolent children and submissive parents are not the characters we want to admire and emulate. Flippancy and sarcasm are not the only ways in which conversation can be conducted."
Her words make us stop and think about the values and behaviors that we often take for granted. Obesity is a serious issue that should not be made light of. Vulgarity has no place in a civilized society. We should strive to raise respectful and responsible children, and parents should assert their authority in a healthy way. Moreover, conversations should be meaningful and respectful, not just filled with flippancy and sarcasm.
Ms. Angelou's wisdom serves as a reminder that we need to be more conscious of the messages we send and the examples we set. By following her teachings, we can create a more positive and harmonious world.
