Poignant, a word that holds within it a world of emotions. It is like a gentle breeze that caresses our hearts, awakening feelings we may have long suppressed.

Flows easily, just like a river that meanders through the landscape, carrying with it the essence of life. Poetry, too, has this quality. It glides effortlessly from one line to the next, taking us on a journey of the imagination.

Poetry I understand, for it speaks to the deepest recesses of my soul. It is a language that transcends words, a form of expression that allows us to touch the divine. Through poetry, we can explore the beauty and the pain of existence, finding meaning in the simplest of things.

Whether it is a sonnet that sings of love or a haiku that captures a moment of stillness, poetry has the power to move us, to make us laugh, to make us cry. It is a gift that we can all share, a way to connect with others and with ourselves.

So let us embrace the poignant, let us allow the words to flow easily, and let us continue to understand and appreciate the beauty of poetry.

Amazing Peace

It is the Glad Season.

Thunder ebbs to silence and lightning sleeps quietly in the corner. The once powerful forces of nature now lie dormant, as if taking a well-deserved rest.

Floodwaters recede into memory, leaving behind a landscape that is starting to heal.

Snow becomes a yielding cushion to aid us as we make our way to higher ground. It provides a soft and gentle path, guiding us towards a better place.

Hope is born again in the faces of children. Their innocent smiles and bright eyes are a sign of a new beginning.

It rides on the shoulders of our aged as they walk into their sunsets. Their wisdom and experience give us hope for the future.

The word is Peace. It is loud now, louder than the explosion of bombs.

And we say without shyness or apology or hesitation: Peace, My Brother. Peace, My Sister. Peace, My Soul. Let us embrace this amazing peace and spread it throughout the world.

I have a deep love for Christmas picture books, and this particular one is truly beautiful! The poem within it is simply enchanting, filled with the magic and spirit of the holiday season. The illustrations, on the other hand, are nothing short of wonderful. They bring the words of the poem to life in the most vivid and captivating way.

We decided to take it a step further and went to YouTube to listen to Maya Angelou read the poem. Her powerful and emotive voice added an extra layer of charm and made the whole experience even more lovely. It was as if she was able to convey the true essence of the story with her reading.

However, I find myself unable to locate the exact book we read on Goodreads. I know that it is illustrated by Steve Johnson and Lou Francher, but for some reason, I can't seem to find it among the countless titles. It's a bit frustrating, as I would love to be able to share this wonderful book with others and have them experience the same joy and beauty that I did.

It begins in darkness, yet it brings us a glimmer of hope. This is something that is rejuvenated every year at this very time. She truly reminds us that "hate, which crouches breeding in dark corridors" still lurks nearby. The imagery presented is both beautiful and hopeful. It makes us think about the contrast between the initial darkness and the subsequent hope that emerges. It's as if a new dawn is breaking through the night. The mention of hate breeding in the dark corridors gives a sense of the lurking evil that still exists in the world. However, the overall tone is one of hope, suggesting that despite the presence of hate, there is always a possibility for renewal and a brighter future.

Beautiful poem

I have been reading this poem for years. Maya Angelou is my favorite author, and her imagery and sentiment in this poem never cease to leave me inspired. The hard cover copy that I own is precious to me, but I also wanted to have it accessible wherever I am. This poem has a special place in my heart as it speaks to the deepest emotions within me. It has the power to transport me to another world, a world filled with beauty, love, and hope. Every time I read it, I discover something new, a hidden meaning or a nuance that I had missed before. Maya Angelou's words are like a gentle breeze that caresses my soul and makes me feel at peace. I am truly grateful for having discovered this poem and for the inspiration that it has given me over the years.

This is an incredibly short poem about Christmas written by Maya Angelou.

I am not altogether familiar with the author. So, I think that I shall only say that it is a good poem.

Many of the themes are enjoyable and remind me of the story of World War fighters who came together at Christmas time (only to kill each other by the next day, I suppose).

The opening of the poem showers us in descriptions of what appear to be natural disasters - things not caused by humans, in any case - which causes the later passages, mainly about Peace, to be seemingly out of place.

But I would posit that we are meant to create a mental chain. What good would Peace do for us when presented with natural disasters? Well, we could help each other out and see even the tumbling snows as a thing to walk upon therefrom. We can come together as a community to solve problems.

This takes up a good bit of the beginning of the poem, whereas the latter half of it takes up the voices of many religious people around the world, believing that they want to "learn." They want to learn about people beyond first blush - beyond "complexion" - and find their interior. They want to establish a sense of community with them.

It is a time to translate ourselves to each other; it is a time to become part of one proverbial whole.

I was originally somewhat struck dumb by her injection of Jesus Christ into other religions hereafter - something I took (naively) to mean that these people were "learning" to become Christians. This doesn't seem to be 'right,' however, for there appears to be far more emphasis put on what Christ might represent - trust, hope, peace - without the religious baggage.

From this, I find the poem to be advocating for, not a single religious tradition, but rather the view that we are all fundamentally similar in some capacity, and that we really can say these final lines:

Peace, My Brother.
Peace, My Sister.
Peace, My Soul.

This is a truly beautiful story that showcases the power of taking the higher ground. It emphasizes the importance of family, home, and the joy that can be found within them, even in the face of a climate filled with doubt, fear, and hate. The painted illustrations in the story vividly depict various aspects of life, such as family, play, rituals, music, and the warmth of community.

Angelou's inclusive writing is particularly noteworthy. She writes, “We clap hands and welcome the Peace of Christmas. We beckon this good season to wait awhile with us. We, Baptist and Buddhist, Methodist and Muslim, say come. Peace.” This shows the unity and acceptance that can exist during the holiday season, regardless of one's religious or cultural background.

The story has been reviewed as a roundup of favorite holiday books on the website https://bookbonding.wordpress.com/201.... It is a wonderful addition to any collection of holiday literature, and is sure to bring a sense of peace and joy to readers of all ages.

This was an incredibly beautiful and extremely powerful poem. It had a certain charm that simply couldn't be ignored.

I also had a profound liking for the artwork. It was so soft, almost like a gentle breeze caressing one's soul. And yet, it managed to bring Maya Angelou's words to life in the most vivid and enchanting way.

The combination of the poem and the artwork was truly a masterpiece. It made me stop and think, feel emotions that I hadn't felt in a long time.

It was as if the artist had managed to capture the essence of the poem and translate it into a visual form that was both captivating and thought-provoking.

I found myself lost in the beauty of it all, and I'm sure that anyone who saw it would feel the same way.

It was a wonderful experience that I will cherish for a long time.

Beautiful, but very short.

This simple description holds a certain charm. It makes us wonder what exactly is being referred to. Is it a moment, a relationship, or perhaps a physical object?

The beauty that is mentioned could be of various kinds - it might be the beauty of nature, the beauty of a person's smile, or the beauty of a work of art. However, the brevity of it all adds an element of mystery.

We are left to imagine and fill in the details for ourselves. Maybe the shortness is what makes it all the more precious, like a shooting star that flashes across the sky and disappears in an instant.

It could also be a reminder that in life, some of the most beautiful things are fleeting and we should cherish them while we can.

Despite its short length, this description has the power to evoke emotions and make us think about the nature of beauty and its transience.
