A very good read

Kevin Smith's work in "Quiver" truly captures the essence and heart of the original Green Arrow Oliver Queen. He manages to bring the character to life in a way that is both engaging and captivating. The story unfolds in a manner that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat, eager to discover what will happen next.

However, it must be noted that some of the supernatural aspects in how Oliver Queen is brought back can be a bit much. It might seem a bit far-fetched at times and could potentially take away from the overall realism of the story. But despite this minor flaw, the book is still well worth the time and effort.

The characters are well-developed, and the plot is full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end. Whether you're a die-hard Green Arrow fan or just someone who enjoys a good comic book, "Quiver" is definitely a must-read.

All I did was a lot of cringing.

It was truly an uncomfortable experience. I just couldn't help but feel a sense of unease.

And then there was the question that kept bothering me: why was Connor white?

This simple fact seemed to stand out to me in a rather strange way.

Maybe it was because I was expecting something different, or perhaps it was just a random thought that popped into my head.

But regardless of the reason, it just wouldn't go away.

It made me wonder if there was some deeper meaning or significance behind it.

Or maybe it was just a coincidence and I was overthinking it.

Either way, it was a thought that continued to linger in my mind, adding to the overall sense of confusion and discomfort.

I guess only time will tell if there was really anything to it or if it was just a passing fancy.

But for now, all I can do is keep cringing and wondering.

Um, wow. This is truly a significant amount of build-up that ultimately leads to a bit of an eye roll. There were numerous moments along the way that made me cringe. However, I must admit that I did manage to let out a little laugh in the beginning. It's quite a strange combination of emotions. On one hand, the excessive build-up had me expecting something truly remarkable, but on the other hand, the payoff wasn't quite what I had hoped for. The cringing moments added an element of discomfort, yet there was still that glimmer of humor at the start. It's as if the whole experience was a bit of a rollercoaster ride of emotions.

Ummmmmmmmm.

I was truly and fully expecting to bestow a four-star review upon this. Initially, it had been a rather strange yet enjoyable experience. However, as I reached the last third of it, things took a drastic turn.

It seemed as if, in the blink of an eye, or rather, within the span of just one page, it went from being an interesting and somewhat entertaining affair to an absolute "NOPE NOPE NOPE".

The sudden change was so jarring that it completely altered my perception of the entire thing.

Soooo yeah, unfortunately, what could have potentially been a solid four-star experience ended up falling short due to that unexpected and rather off-putting shift in the final third.

It's a shame really, as the beginning and middle had shown such promise. But alas, such is the nature of this particular piece.

My very first foray into the captivating Green Arrow storyline has been an interesting experience.

This particular relaunch commences right after Queen's death. For the initial half of the narrative, it skillfully teases an explanation regarding his return, which keeps the readers on the edge of their seats.

Then, in the third quarter, the much-anticipated explanation is finally provided, adding depth and clarity to the overall plot.

Although the ending seemed a little rushed, it managed to close the story in a rather satisfying way.

The artwork throughout this arc is truly fantastic. The detailed illustrations bring the characters and the story to life, enhancing the overall reading experience.

I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking to embark on a DC arc. It offers a great introduction to the Green Arrow universe and is sure to engage both new and existing fans alike.

In the introduction to Green Arrow, the collected edition that I read, Kevin Smith openly acknowledges some of the complaints he has received regarding Quiver. One such complaint is that it leans too heavily on continuity, and this is indeed a valid point.

I have a great affection for Kevin Smith. However, as a new reader of Oliver Queen, Quiver didn't really hold much sense for me. I understand that there was some strange and convoluted stuff happening with Green Lantern, but aside from that, it was just so-so.

The mystery presented in Quiver was rather gruesome, and the crude humor and gay jokes came as a surprise to me. I don't really have much familiarity with this Green Arrow sporting a Musketeer mustache, and I'm quite content to leave him back in the 90's (or perhaps the early 2000's?).

I give it 3 stars because it was at least readable, and I'm glad that I finally got around to reading it. It wasn't a perfect read by any means, but it had its moments that kept my interest.

Overall, while Quiver may have its flaws, it still offers an interesting take on the Green Arrow character. I'm curious to see how subsequent stories in the collection will build upon or deviate from this initial installment.

I once had the opportunity to sit on a panel discussing comics art. In front of a room full of people, I made a rather bold statement. I told them that they didn't have the right to have aesthetic opinions unless they'd read at least one truly awful fantasy novel.

If you were to take that silly joke seriously, then reading this might seem like an attempt to reaffirm my critical credentials. However, I suspect that in the end, the joke is really on me.

Take "Green Arrow: Port of Call - New Orleans" for example. It flows about as smoothly as a blocked toilet. Despite having two comics and one movie under his belt at this point, Smith still hasn't figured out that you can do a second draft. It's hard to say whether the lines that are supposed to convince you he's had sex are more tragic or less so than the ones that are there to test how many DC comics you've read.

Hester does manage to find a couple of attractive images in this mess, but in the spirit of collaboration, he also comes up with compositions that are as dramatically clueless as the script he's working from.

In conclusion, don't waste your time reading this comic, and leave "Assasins of Gor" on the shelf too. Whoever you are, you deserve better than this.

I didn't really have much interest in this particular thing.

The art didn't resonate with me at all. It just didn't seem to have that special something that would make me truly appreciate it.

Moreover, I don't believe that Kevin Smith is as intelligent or witty as he himself might think.

His work didn't leave a lasting impression on me, and I found myself rather disappointed.

In fact, I would go so far as to say that I missed out on whatever it was that others might have seen in it.

Perhaps I'm just not in the right frame of mind to understand his style or approach, but for now, this one just didn't do it for me.

Maybe in the future, with a different perspective or a more open mind, I might be able to see the value in it that others seem to find so easily.

But for now, it's just not something that I would recommend or praise.

I gotta say that I was truly and deeply impressed with this book.

It had me completely hooked from the very start all the way to the finish.

Trying to bring a character back from the dead, especially a high-profile one like Green Arrow, can't possibly be an easy task.

However, Kevin Smith managed to do it in the most beautiful way.

One thing that I absolutely love about Smith in the comic book world is that you can clearly tell just how much of a fan he is.

He throws in every character he desires in this.

For example, we know he's a huge Batman fan and who appears in the book the most aside from Ollie?

I felt that the story was extremely well-rounded, covering all of its bases.

I'm eagerly looking forward to more Green Arrow adventures.

"All the characters do is talk!" This is what writer Kevin Smith said about some of the complaints regarding the book. I must concur with this criticism. Quiver indeed seemed to have an excessive amount of dialogue, making it feel very heavy in that regard, while the action was lacking, and this was not a favorable ratio. However, the artwork was quite good. It somewhat resembled the Batman and Superman animated series from the 90's. Additionally, any book that has appearances by Batman and Black Canary is not entirely a waste of time. But I do wish that they had been incorporated into a more interesting story. It would have been great if the author had found a better balance between dialogue and action, and had used the appearances of these well-known characters in a more engaging and exciting way.

This one was truly excellent.

You can most definitely observe that it has Kevin Smith applying his peculiar and nerdy touch throughout it.

He took the old school Green Arrow and modernized him to a great extent.

Kevin Smith's unique vision and style are clearly evident in this portrayal of Green Arrow.

The way he has updated the character gives a fresh and exciting perspective to the classic superhero.

It's as if he has breathed new life into Green Arrow, making him relevant and engaging for a modern audience.

His nerdy sensibilities add an interesting layer of depth and authenticity to the character's development and storylines.

Overall, this modernization of Green Arrow by Kevin Smith is a remarkable achievement that fans of the character and superhero genre alike are sure to appreciate.
