Ralph, the brave mouse we first encountered in The Mouse and the Motorcycle, embarks on a new adventure in this children's book.

He resides in the Mountain View Inn in California, but he is growing weary of his numerous cousins and younger siblings. All of them are envious of his amazing motorcycle. These relatives constantly demand that Ralph give them rides on his bike. However, Ralph has no desire to do so. He prefers to race alone up and down the hallways of the Inn, exploring the building while zooming his bike back and forth. Ralph yearns for independence, to be his own mouse and do as he wishes.

One day, Ralph overhears that a young guest named Garf will be leaving the Inn and traveling to Happy Acres camp. Ralph realizes that the distant bugle sounds he hears every night are coming from the nearby camp. It sounds thrilling to Ralph - many kids mean there will be plenty of crumbs of delicious food on the floor. And at the camp, Ralph will be free from the supervision of the adult mice and away from the annoyances of the younger mice. Ralph decides to hop on his motorcycle and speed off to summer camp.

Happy Acres turns out to be less perfect than Ralph imagined. A dog named Sam guards the camp, and Sam refuses to let a mouse onto the premises. Ralph manages to evade Sam, but soon he encounters a much more dangerous adversary - the camp has a cat named Catso, and Catso loves to pounce on mice and eat them. Ralph is trapped and his fate seems sealed when he is fortuitously rescued by Garf. Although grateful to be saved, Ralph is not happy that Garf puts him in a cage to be kept as a pet mouse.

Runaway Ralph is a bit more intense than The Mouse and the Motorcycle. Ralph faces mortal danger from the cunning Catso. Additionally, he is imprisoned in a cage. Ralph experiences loneliness and is upset by his helplessness. Eventually, he finds a way to communicate with Garf, and the two lonely souls become friends.

As my librarian had predicted, this installment is not on par with the first one.

I did have the pleasure of reading it aloud to William at bedtime. However, in most aspects, it didn't captivate me as much as the initial book.

The plot failed to hold my interest to the same degree. Ralph's character didn't come across as powerful or show significant growth. Additionally, the other characters lacked the same level of intrigue.

Nonetheless, it is still worthy of being read. But if you have the option to read only one from the series, this might not be the top choice.

Overall, while it has its merits, it doesn't quite reach the heights of the first book in the series.

I truly love this little mouse. It is so charming and可爱 that I can't help but wish I could have a pet just like him.

This book has brought me an even greater amount of fun compared to the first one. I was completely engrossed in its pages from start to finish.

I find myself eagerly anticipating the arrival of the third and final part, although I'm a bit sad that it will be the end.

I'm excited to see how the story concludes and what adventures the little mouse will have in this final installment.

I'm sure it will be just as精彩 as the previous two books and will leave me with a lasting impression.

This series contains such cute little stories.

They are very easy for my son and I to enjoy together.

We often spend our spare time reading these stories, and it has become a wonderful way for us to bond.

The characters and plots in the stories are so charming that we can't help but get lost in them.

After reading the first two installments, we are now eagerly looking forward to reading the 3rd one.

I'm sure it will be just as exciting and engaging as the previous ones.

I can't wait to see what new adventures and lessons await us in the next installment.

It's truly a delight to have this series to share with my son.

My son received The Mouse & The Motorcycle this past Christmas. We read it together and he absolutely loved it.

So, for Easter, it was only natural that he received Runaway Ralph. We just completed reading it together as well.

I have to be completely honest here - I wasn't overly interested in the story itself. However, what truly made my heart full was seeing my son being completely captivated by it.

And really, who am I to question the great Beverly Cleary? I don't necessarily have to love the story to cherish the precious bonding moments with my kid over a timeless book like this.

I'm determined to continue reading to him and sharing these wonderful moments for as long as he'll allow me to. It's not just about the story; it's about the connection we build and the memories we create.

These are the moments that will stay with us forever and make our relationship even stronger.

New characters have emerged, presenting a truly great and fresh plot.

We found ourselves missing the Mountain View Inn, the cousins who added so much charm, the worrying mom, and Uncle Lester.

But now, it's time to move on to the next book in the series!

The anticipation is palpable, like a drumbeat in our hearts - Pb-pb-b-b-b!

We can't wait to see what new adventures, challenges, and relationships await us in the next installment.

Will the new characters bring even more excitement and depth to the story?

Only time will tell as we turn the page and embark on this new literary journey.

Let's hope it lives up to our expectations and takes us on another thrilling ride.

This book is centered around a charming mouse named Ralph.

When he is with his family, he resides at the bottom of a grandfather clock. However, his heart yearns for something more exciting, an adventure.

Equipped with his motorcycle, he bravely sets off into the world. Along his journey, he discovers new things and makes some wonderful new friends.

I can strongly relate to the book's main character, Ralph. I have come to realize that we share many similarities. Like me, Ralph has a deep longing to embark on an adventure of some sort. He also has a genuine love for meeting new people and acquiring new knowledge. Another aspect that connects me to Ralph is his curious nature, yet he is also cautious. Additionally, I can identify with how adept he is at meeting new people. He is extremely outgoing and open-minded. These are the ways in which I can establish a connection with Ralph in this book.

I award this book 4 stars because I truly appreciate how imaginative Beverly Cleary was when conceptualizing the story. Moreover, she incorporated some real-life values, which added depth to the narrative. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who has a penchant for a good fiction story.

I am currently engaged in the PopSugar 2020 summer reading challenge. One of the prompts in this challenge is to read a book about camping or summer camp. Coincidentally, I came across a book that I had during my childhood. It was truly a delight to reread it!

When I was a child, I had a great fondness for Beverly Cleary's books. Her stories always had a way of captivating my imagination and taking me on wonderful adventures. This particular book about camping or summer camp was no exception.

Rereading it brought back so many memories of my own childhood summers. I could vividly picture the characters in the book, their experiences at the camp, and the fun they had. It was like reliving those precious moments all over again.

I am really glad that I decided to participate in this reading challenge. It has not only allowed me to discover new books but also to revisit some of my old favorites. I look forward to seeing what other books I will encounter during this challenge and the memories and experiences they will bring.

This is a truly entertaining sequel to "The Mouse and the Motorcycle". In this story, Ralph departs from the Mountain View Inn and sets off on his motorcycle, believing he is riding towards freedom. It was also a delight to read aloud to my son.

Ralph's experience at Happy Acres Camp is filled with both horror and reflection. The grotesque and creepy camp songs he encounters are a source of great discomfort for him. Additionally, his thoughts on life in a cage and the futility of running the hamster wheel are among the highlights of the book. His friendship with Chum, a hamster in a neighboring cage, is touching and adds a layer of depth to the story. However, I feel that the story could have been stronger if there had been less time spent with Ralph separated from his motorcycle.

Despite being an older book, it is still a mostly suitable choice for reading to kids today. The camp songs may be a bit strange, but Ralph's reaction to them provides valuable context. There are also more kids and some gendered dynamics that are characteristic of an older era, but nothing overly intense that would make me regret reading the book to my child. Overall, it is a fun and engaging read that kids are likely to enjoy.

Ralph S. Mouse is feeling extremely frustrated with the numerous rules and heavy responsibilities that come his way. As a result, he decides to take a drastic step, just like any mouse who happens to own a motorcycle would do. He bolts away from his home and somehow ends up at a summer camp that is filled with kids.

However, Ralph soon realizes that this newfound freedom is not at all what he had anticipated. He discovers that even in this seemingly unrestricted environment, there are still limitations and a sense of confinement. So, what is a resourceful mouse like Ralph to do? Well, he decides to hatch a plan for an escape that is not only bold and daring but also bordering on the edge of foolhardiness.

To be honest, this particular book about Ralph isn't my absolute favorite among all the mouse books I've read. Ralph comes across as rather spoiled and throughout the story, he never really seems to mature or grow up in a meaningful way. By the end of the book, I'm left wondering what exactly he has learned from his experiences. And more importantly, where will he go from here? I'm not entirely convinced that it's worth my time to keep reading and find out the answers. That being said, I do have a soft spot for the motorcycle that Ralph rides around on. It adds a certain element of excitement to the story.

Continuing with the mouse series, this particular installment was truly more enjoyable for me. It vividly reminded me of my childhood days at camp. There were those wonderful crafts that we used to make, the kind and helpful counselors who guided us, and that ever-present desire to sometimes just escape the routine. I do firmly believe that I've been a home-body for an incredibly long, long time. It's as if that childhood inclination to seek the comfort of home has stayed with me throughout the years. Maybe it's because the memories of those camp experiences, with all their excitement and chaos, also made me appreciate the tranquility and familiarity of home even more.
