I did not like this book at all.

There was absolutely zero character development throughout the story.

The main character's wife is brutally killed, and yet, a mere month later, he is already sleeping with his old girlfriend.

This sudden and rather immoral behavior of the main character left me completely unimpressed and disappointed.

I have read several Alex Cross novels before written by Paterson, and I have always liked them.

However, this particular one failed to meet my expectations.

It lacked the depth and complexity that I have come to associate with Paterson's works.

The plot seemed rushed, and the characters felt one-dimensional.

Overall, I would not recommend this book to others.

I've read a significant portion of James Patterson's works. This particular one, however, is a rather notable departure from his typical detective and mystery tales.

Although I'm aware that it was penned earlier in his writing career, in the beginning, the story truly turned my stomach. A group had been planning "Dachau Two" for decades. The very idea was horrifying. Wasn't one Holocaust sufficient? Did the world really require or desire to repeat such a tragic and painful history? Weren't the atrocities and sufferings during WWII more than enough?

As the story unfolds (for more details, one can read other reviews), my queasiness persisted as I discovered who was behind "Dachau Two". A plethora of ethical and moral questions bombarded my mind. Questions like, does the end justify the means? Or perhaps, does the means justify the end? Could I actually support the purpose of "Dachau Two"? Would my stance be different if I were a Holocaust survivor? This is not an easy story to read, and coming to terms with it is even more arduous.

It forces one to confront some deeply uncomfortable and complex issues, making it a thought-provoking and challenging read.

I grabbed this book at the library in a rush to find a few reads before a long flight.

The fast-paced plot and short chapters made it an enjoyable way to pass a part of the trip, especially during those brief moments when I could squeeze in some reading.

The plot is both entertaining and suspenseful, yet it still feels a bit far-fetched at times. One of the male characters, a fashion model, is so cartoonishly conflicted within himself that you just know there's more drama to come.

Even in this era of terrorism, the premise of the main events and their underlying agents seems rather unbelievable. However, setting that aside, it's still a fun read thanks to the unexpected twists in the plot and a couple of thought-provoking exercises that challenge our understanding of history.

Overall, it's a light and engaging book that's perfect for a quick read during a long journey.

Awful. This book was truly a struggle to get through. It felt as if I had to put in an extraordinary amount of effort just to finish it. The story lacked any real depth or excitement, and the characters were one-dimensional and uninteresting. The writing style was also quite dull, making it a chore to read each page. I found myself constantly looking at the clock, wondering when I would finally be done with this literary disappointment. It's rare that I have such a negative experience with a book, but this one really managed to test my patience. I would not recommend it to anyone looking for an engaging or enjoyable read.

This was a truly poorly written book.

The sentences were extremely choppy, making it a struggle to read smoothly. What's more, the way the narrator compared certain actions to scenes from television and movies was not only annoying but also highly distracting.

I usually appreciate Patterson's style of writing short chapters, but in this case, the overuse of Jewish, German, and Russian titles and names that were not properly interpreted made it hard to keep track.

The quick description of characters and scenes, along with the inappropriate choices of verbs and adjectives as the author seemed desperately trying to sound "literary", all contributed to my difficulty in following the story.

I don't even remember what the story was actually about. All I can clearly recall is an A-class Jewish doctor's family being murdered by Neo Nazis, which led to a battle between Jewish extremists and Neo Nazis.

I could be completely wrong as I lost interest at the beginning of part three due to the terrible writing. I didn't care about the main characters at all. In fact, I couldn't clearly understand what happened to them at the end or how the major situation was resolved.

Ultimately, I ended up throwing this book in the trash. However, on a positive note, overall I had a good weekend.

I have read 21 chapters of the book, but unfortunately, I just couldn't get into it.

Maybe it's because the writing style didn't appeal to me, or perhaps the story didn't grip my attention from the very beginning.

Whatever the reason, I have decided not to continue reading.

I believe that life is too short to waste on books that don't bring us joy or value.

There are so many other great books out there waiting to be discovered, and I would rather spend my time exploring those.

Although I may have given up on this particular book, I still have a passion for reading and look forward to finding my next literary adventure.

This work is not one of his best.

It was a little hard to follow, as the plot seemed to jump around without a clear direction at times.

The characters also lacked some depth, making it difficult to fully engage with them.

However, the overall concept was interesting, and there were some moments of good writing.

The author's use of language was quite vivid in certain descriptions, which added to the atmosphere of the story.

Despite its flaws, it was still an okay read.

It had the potential to be better if the author had focused more on clarifying the plot and developing the characters.

Perhaps with some revisions, this could become a more enjoyable and engaging piece of work.

David Strauss' life takes a tragic and unexpected turn on one fateful day at his family's home in Scarsdale, NY.

A group of Neo-Nazis launches a brutal attack, resulting in the deaths of his grandmother and wife. Simultaneously, his brother, who is on stage accepting an Oscar for his work on a film about the Holocaust, is shot dead live on television.

With some research, Strauss and his former lover Alix Rothschild uncover a chilling plot. Several ex-Nazi officers and sympathizers have banded together in an attempt to regain power. To prove their seriousness, they plan to unleash Dachau Zwei, a bloody and anti-Jewish campaign that will culminate in an attack on the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow.

While I truly appreciate the concept of the book and the thought Patterson put into it, the execution leaves much to be desired. The transitions from one scene to the next are extremely sloppy, making it difficult for me to follow the sequence of events. I often found myself losing track of what was happening and having to go back to piece together the story.

This lack of smooth transitions detracted from my overall enjoyment of the book. However, the underlying idea and the exploration of the themes are still quite interesting and thought-provoking.

It was just OK.

I am a huge James Patterson fan. I have read many of his books and have always been impressed by his writing style and the engaging stories he tells. However, this particular book was unlike any other I've read by him.

The plot was interesting enough, but it didn't have the same level of excitement and thrill that I've come to expect from Patterson's work. The characters were also a bit flat and didn't really develop much throughout the story.

Overall, I would say that this book was just average. It wasn't a bad read, but it also wasn't one that I would highly recommend. If you're a die-hard Patterson fan, you might still enjoy it, but if you're new to his work, I would suggest starting with one of his more popular titles.

The story plot of this book is truly great. It has the potential to be a captivating and engaging read.

However, I have to admit that I feel it wasn't executed well. Most of the time, I found myself completely confused with who's who and what's what. The writing style is very confusing, making it difficult to follow the narrative.

Despite this confusion, I did like the message that the book was trying to convey. It had some interesting and thought-provoking ideas.

Perhaps with a bit more clarity in the writing and a better organization of the story, this book could have been a real masterpiece. As it stands, it's a bit of a disappointment, but I still appreciate the effort that went into it.

The process of getting into it was extremely tough. It seemed to be a real struggle from the very beginning. There were many obstacles and challenges that had to be overcome. However, towards the end, it did manage to pick up a little bit. There was a glimmer of hope that perhaps it would turn out to be more interesting. But unfortunately, that wasn't enough to change my overall impression. I just didn't like the story. It failed to capture my attention and hold my interest throughout. The characters didn't seem fully developed, and the plot lacked depth and excitement. Despite the slight improvement at the end, it still left me feeling disappointed.

The beginning of this book was truly excellent up until approximately the middle. This is just my personal opinion.

I'm not particularly fond of reading about Russian and Jew related matters. I don't enjoy reading the names as they tend to confuse me.

I'm certain that this book would be really great for someone who would relish this kind of story. Even though it wasn't my absolute favorite, I will admit that it had a very good storyline.

Since it's a Patterson book, I simply had to give it a try. :) Heather
