Alright, I lowered the rating this time around. In fact, I dropped it by 2 stars. So instead of a 5, it's now a 3. I think I've finally overcome the euphoria I had when I first read this book as a tween. I really don't believe it's worthy of 5 stars anymore. I have no clue how many times I've read this book. Definitely at least 5 times XD. The fact that the oldest of the flock is only 14 makes it rather unbelievable. And the way they were I really don't understand that. And the I'm pleased that it's Angel who has There was definitely some strange stuff in this book. A lot of things happened! I loved the part with the Maybe this time I'll finally finish the series :p
Crazy! The last time I read this book was exactly a year ago!
The Maximum Ride series has always held a special place in my heart, and recently, I decided to revisit it. The first book, "The Angel Experiment," was a quick read that I devoured in no time. However, upon this re-read, I found myself more critical of the series as a whole.
The pacing of the book is both a strength and a weakness. While the short chapters and simplistic writing style make it a fast read, the story can become repetitive. The flock is constantly on the run, scrounging for food, and getting attacked. This cycle gets old after a while, and it would have been nice to see more variety in the plot.
Another issue I had was with the resolution of the story. The book ends rather abruptly, with many loose ends left hanging. It feels like the author was more interested in setting up the next book than in providing a satisfying conclusion to this one. This lack of resolution was frustrating and left me feeling a bit disappointed.
Despite these flaws, I still enjoyed the book for its characters. Max, Fang, and the rest of the flock are all well-developed and likable. Their relationships with each other are heartwarming, and I found myself rooting for them throughout the story. Additionally, the book has some exciting action scenes that keep the reader on the edge of their seat.
By far the best James Patterson book I've ever read. I have a deep affection for the teen-speak used in it. It gives the story a unique flavor and makes it highly relatable to the younger generation. The drama in the book is simply captivating. It keeps you on the edge of your seat, eagerly turning the pages to find out what happens next. The action scenes are also extremely exciting, adding a thrilling element to the narrative.
The depth of the characters is truly remarkable. They have normal kid traits that make them endearing and fun to read about. You can easily empathize with their joys, sorrows, and struggles. It's like getting a peek into the lives of real teenagers. Additionally, the science aspect of the book is pretty nifty too. It adds an element of mystery and intrigue, making the story even more engaging.
I can't wait to devour the rest of this series. I'm completely hooked and eager to see how the story progresses. James Patterson has once again proven himself to be a master storyteller, and I'm looking forward to more adventures with these amazing characters.
