I reached the part where Jill - the scapegoat's body was just discovered, and I simply rolled my eyes and decided to give up. The story didn't even have an actual mystery part that could make me care enough to continue reading.

This is truly some extremely lazy writing, and I'm completely done with this series.

The plot - terrorists attempting to save the world from itself - is interesting enough for a formulaic suspense/mystery novel. However, it's the way the characters are being killed off, and I don't just mean the literal death of Jill. It's simply unbearable.

Claire, who was my favorite, didn't even sound like herself anymore. She's become all soft and whiny. Where did that strong, supportive, and compassionate woman go? I suppose all the scares she endured in the last book broke her, and she has diminished exponentially.

I almost stopped reading the book when Lindsay marched into Steve's office to demand that he stop abusing Jill or else. Seriously? A homicide detective threatening a batterer? Has she never heard of people killing their spouses precisely because they've been confronted? And Lindsay is a woman. As far as I've seen, having been a female my entire life, women more often rally around and protect their battered friends, not full-on threaten the husbands. I'm pretty certain that on some level, Lindsay would have been worried that the abusive husband would become more dangerous once confronted and would have known not to put her friend in that position. Apparently, I don't know Lindsay, friends, women, or logical human beings at all.

But it's okay. Scapegoat Jill, who must have become a major obstacle to the author, died anyway, and we don't have to worry about her well-being any longer. I mean, not only did she have to lose a baby in the last book, but then we find out she's also a battered wife in this book. It's just too much, and there's not much left to do to her but kill her.

And my interest? Also killed.

Moving on.

Lindsay Yang was on her way home after jogging when she was startled by an explosion right in front of her eyes. And that explosion became the starting point for several incidents that occurred. As she was investigating those cases, Lindsay and her friends were shocked by something that happened to Jill.

This script mentions domestic abuse, and it can happen to anyone. Even though we see that the victim externally is a smart and assertive woman, the kind who is not easily stepped on, but sometimes becomes less smart when in a relationship, allowing the abuse to continue. Sometimes it may continue because the victim is ashamed to admit that she is a victim of abuse. Maybe because of her status in society and so on. Therefore, SH likes the friendship between them, which becomes a strength for the victim to make the decision to withdraw from that toxic relationship.

The repeated loss of a loved one is a sad thing and can make a person lose judgment. But SH likes to see Lindsay and her friends becoming strengths and supporters for each other. Such a thing is indeed desired for a friendship.

There is really nothing special about this. It seems that its principal intention is simply to advance the storyline for the forthcoming book in the series. This may be a necessary step in the overall narrative arc, but it doesn't possess any outstanding qualities or elements that would make it particularly remarkable on its own.

Perhaps the author is laying the groundwork for more exciting developments to come in the subsequent installment. By moving the plot along in this way, they are setting the stage for greater drama, conflict, and character growth.

However, from a standalone perspective, this part of the story may feel somewhat平淡 and uneventful. It lacks the kind of impact or excitement that would draw readers in and keep them engaged. But when considered as part of the larger series, it takes on a different significance and serves an important function in the overall narrative.

I truly enjoyed this just as much, if not even more than the last two.

The excitement and anticipation it brought were palpable. I was so enthralled that I have already purchased several more.

I have high hopes that the thrills and twists and turns will continue without it falling into the trap of becoming a predictable plot blueprint.

Each new installment has the potential to take me on a wild ride, and I can't wait to see where the story will lead.

The element of surprise is what makes this series so captivating, and I hope it remains that way.

Whether it's a sudden plot twist or an unexpected character development, I'm looking forward to being continuously amazed.

Here's to many more exciting adventures in this series!

The third book in the Women's Murder Club series was an absolute delight, just like the first two.

I have to admit, there was a certain part of it that left me a little disappointed. However, the characters were as engaging and well-developed as they were in the previous installments.

The story was so thrilling that it constantly had me on the edge of my seat, eagerly wondering if the protagonists would be able to solve the crimes in the nick of time.

I simply can't wait to get my hands on the next novel in this exciting series and continue following the adventures of the Women's Murder Club.

Overall, this book was a great addition to the series and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good mystery.

"Let’s Roll," appears to be far more than just a simple statement.

Right from the very first page of the first chapter, this novel embarks on an inbound wave and hurtles along at a breakneck speed.

When Lindsay Boxer is out jogging and a building suddenly detonates beside her, the scenes of the 2013 Boston Marathon spring vividly to mind.

This incident turns out to be the initial skirmish of a newly declared one-sided war.

Soon after, other murders and assassinations occur in various locations using an assortment of methods.

The only thing that either binds them together or tears them apart is a feeling and the unknown group called August Spies.

The sheer scope of the crimes necessitates the involvement of the FBI, Homeland Security, and requires the combined efforts of all the members of the Women’s Murder Club.

This club has all aspects covered. Jill Bernhardt is an ADA, Lindsay Boxer a homicide detective lieutenant, Dr. Claire Washburn is the medical examiner, and lastly, Cindy Thomas is a reporter for the Chronicle.

Together, they form a formidable team that must stop the killers and safeguard the members of an upcoming G-8 conference in the Bay Area.

When one of them suddenly goes missing, everything else takes a backseat.

Patterson creates a Rizzoli and Isles (Tess Gerritsen) squared team of capable women, but unfortunately, he lacks the in-depth knowledge to create the wow factor.

As with all the books associated with his name, it is an easy and entertaining read.

Certainly, it's a book to enjoy if you can simply go with the flow and not attempt to analyze the story too deeply. I rate it as a keeper!

This installment was not as excellent as the initial two. The storyline was rather foreseeable, which somewhat dampened my enthusiasm. There is one aspect in particular that I really disliked.

That's it. I am not going to bang my head anymore over this series.

To be honest, I was never a huge fan of this series in the first place. I only picked it up because I wanted to read a crime novel with a female lead who wasn't just a witness but instead the one taking things under her control.

The mysteries in these books don't have much substance to them. They are almost like brain candy rather than anything else. I had already given up on the series but decided to pick it up again anyway because of the presence of a 'new' love interest. The one in the first book wasn't particularly appealing, and the one in this book was an FBI dude or something like that, so I decided to give the series another shot.

Well, the joke was totally on me. James has no idea how to write a romance. I kid you not. I'd rather not read one at all than read what he comes up with. Just to give you an idea, when she first encounters this interest (Joe), she has no reaction to him. But that same day when she goes home and talks to her friend, she is all blushing and talking about her attraction to him. Huh? And get this, after going out on dinner once and not having gotten to know each other at all, she has the tingling thing going on. Let me also quote one of the cheesy lines:
"“No” - he stroked my hair - “you don't have to pretend with me. You can let it out”
Ummmm, the girl barely knows you, and also, I only like cheese in my food, not my literature.

I also found out that there is a love triangle in the later books. The guy can barely write a romance. What is he doing adding a love triangle??

Honestly, the death of a certain character was the last straw for me. I will not be returning for more of this series (unless I go crazy), and I don't think I want to read any more of his books either.

Boy, when you encounter radicals, solving the situation can be a real challenge.

Adding four women to the mix makes it even more complicated when they involve themselves in the chaos of various causes. This specific cause, which has led to bombings throughout the city and a deadly ricin virus, is not as it seems. It's personal, and Jill, the District Attorney, finds herself right in the middle of it all.

And then there were three. This kind of story is often misinterpreted. We all know that radicals exist, even in the US. Sadly, it's difficult to identify the individuals who have destroyed the lives of innocent people just trying to get by, without putting other innocent lives at risk. Protesting nowadays seems far less peaceful and yields fewer positive results. So, to some extent, I agree with the ultimatums presented in this book. Change... or face the consequences, but bombings are definitely not the answer.

I really like this series, but now we've lost one character, and I'm truly sad about that. She will be deeply missed.

The third installment of the Women's Murder Club series, unfortunately, didn't quite reach the same high standards as the previous two installments. However, it still managed to avoid being a terrible read.

If one approaches this book with the right mindset, simply looking for entertainment value, then it can actually be quite enjoyable. There were moments when the pacing felt a little sluggish, which might have caused some readers to lose a bit of their initial enthusiasm.

Nevertheless, when it came to the action sequences, they never failed to deliver. The intense and thrilling scenes added a much-needed boost to the overall narrative, keeping readers on the edge of their seats.

All in all, while the third installment may not be the best in the series, it still has its redeeming qualities and can provide an entertaining read for fans of the Women's Murder Club.

This was a truly comforting read, being the 3rd book in the series.

It is highly advisable to begin from the very first book in order to have a more profound understanding of the characters.

It was truly heartwarming to witness the human side of those individuals who are dedicated to working for the law. The friendships depicted in the story were simply wonderful, and I was deeply impressed by how supportive the characters were of one another.

After reading these 3 books, I have noticed a distinct trend. It seems that the author has a penchant for killing off a person in Lindsey's life in every single book. This adds an element of unpredictability and drama to the story, keeping the readers on the edge of their seats.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author.
