Under Mr. Patterson's sun, there seems to be nothing truly novel.

The story does have a decent plot with some good action sequences. The writing style is pleasant and alert, and there are some strong characters.

However, I haven't yet witnessed the sparkles that would make this series truly stand out, nor have I seen a magnificent final that would leave a lasting impression.

In addition, there are still some unanswered questions lingering. For example, the method used to get Jill out of her house before her killing remains a mystery.

It makes me wonder if these loose ends will be tied up in future installments or if they will continue to bother readers like me.

Overall, while the series has its merits, it still has room for improvement to reach that next level of greatness.

Another great Women's Murder Club book! I truly love these quick day-only reads. They are so much fun for a weekend when you just want to relax and pick up a fast-paced thriller like this one.

Lindsay, the Homicide Police Inspector, Jill, the Assistant DA, Claire, the Medical Examiner, and Cindy, the news reporter, all come together whenever major cases are being solved in Lindsay's department. Their goal is to help crack down on killers. However, in their newest case, a radical group is determined to stop at nothing. They are using bombs and horrible organ melting poisons to murder those they believe are responsible for making this world a corrupt and awful place.

The girls are working together, bouncing ideas off each other in an attempt to catch the group. But unfortunately, it is too late, and one of their club members ends up dead.

This is a very touching and nerve-tingling entry in the series. It is sad to see one of the girls go, but it is nice to see Lindsay find some romance. This book is by far the most serious and intense of the series yet. These books just keep getting better and better! I can't wait to see what comes next in the Women's Murder Club series.

This is a really good book.

I truly like the way the characters have developed further as the story progresses.

There is a rather unexpected twist in the middle that completely took me by surprise. I was so shocked that my chin literally dropped to the floor.

Despite this, I am still very much looking forward to reading the fourth book in the series.

I have a feeling that there will be more exciting developments and surprises waiting for me.

The author has done a great job of keeping me engaged and interested throughout the story.

I can't wait to see what happens next and how the characters will continue to evolve.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good read with well-developed characters and unexpected plot twists.

I truly despise reviewing books that are part of a series, as each one I've come across so far has been vastly different. That being said, I have to admit that I wasn't overly enthusiastic about this particular book. It simply delved into politics to an extent that didn't appeal to me, and it also felt rather cheesy.

To be fair, it was an okay read, but the first half of the book was definitely my favorite.

Here are some of my favorite comments from my buddy read: (some of them contain spoilers, but I'll mark them accordingly).

At 26%, I thought, "So far I like this book better than the second one, but it’s becoming a little too political heavy for my taste. Oh hell no! If someone had me test out a bomb, juice or no juice? I’d be out of there faster than the roadrunner."

At 55%, I exclaimed, "Ohhhh heyyyyy! LT Boxer got some bootyyy! You go girl!"

And at 76%, I read, “Stories by Eudora Welty, Jill always had great taste in books.”

It's truly wonderful to be able to read these Women Murder Club books consecutively.

I really enjoy them due to their brisk pace and the fact that they have just the right amount of content to draw me into the plot.

Admittedly, the storylines in these books might not be overly elaborate, but they do provide the reader with sufficient information to maintain interest.

The same can be said about the characterization. Sometimes, one wishes the authors would explore a little deeper.

For example, take Jill, the ADA and friend to Lindsay, Claire, and Cindy. I really wish I could have known her better.

I was truly shocked by what happened to Jill. I even had tears in my eyes during their final goodbye.

Still, this group of women is fascinating, and their friendship is something that one can only strive for.

I won't go into too much detail about this plot, which centers around a domestic terrorist group called "August Spies." It's a rather convoluted story.

Notably, this is the book where Lindsay meets Joe Molinari, the deputy director of the Office of Homeland Security. A budding romance begins for Lindsay, but at the same time, love has soured at Jill's house, with disastrous consequences.

This is definitely an almost 4-star read - but not quite.

Overall, it's an engaging installment in the Women Murder Club series that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.

It was truly a fast-paced book.

From the very first page, it grabbed my attention and didn't let go. The story unfolded at a breakneck speed, with one exciting event after another.

The characters were well-developed and engaging, and I found myself completely invested in their fates.

The author's writing style was concise and powerful, making it easy to follow the action and stay immersed in the story.

I couldn't put this book down, and I finished it in just a few sittings.

Overall, it was an excellent read that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a thrilling and engaging book.

If you're a fan of fast-paced action and adventure, then this book is definitely for you.

Give it a try and see for yourself why it's so addictive.

And then I managed to reach book 3, but all my faith had been lost by then. It's not that this is a truly awful series. In fact, many people have really enjoyed it. However, it just didn't click with me. Maybe it was the writing style, or the plot didn't grip me as tightly as I had hoped. For these reasons, I gave it 2 stars. It was a difficult decision because I could see that there were aspects of the series that others might find appealing. But unfortunately, I had to put this book down before I finished it. I really did try my best to get into it, to understand why so many people liked it. But in the end, it just wasn't meant to be.

This installment was truly a punch in the gut!

I usually have an aversion to domestic terrorist stories as they often tend to become overly convoluted and, quite frankly, boring. However, the manner in which the murders occurred in this one was rather gruesome. It sent shivers down my spine.

What really took me by surprise was the twist the author pulled with the club. I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about it. It seems like a rather strange plot twist, especially considering this is only the third book in the series. But, despite that, the series has been quite good so far.

I'm eager to see where the author takes the story next and how this unexpected twist will impact the overall narrative. Will it lead to more shocking revelations or will it be a minor blip in the grand scheme of things? Only time will tell, but for now, I'm hooked on this series.

The success of this writer completely eludes me.

His prose seems to lack any real finesse or artistry. It reads like a 30-year UPS driver taking his first crack at a creative writing class. (If this description happens to apply to anyone reading this, then good for you and keep up the good work. However, I just won't expect you to have fifty books on the best-seller list before you've shown significant improvement.)

His characters are disappointingly off-the-rack. The heroes have the usual, faultless motivations and spout all of the cloying platitudes that one would expect. Similarly, his villains are just pure, unreflective evil. Interestingly, though, even in this one-dimensional portrayal, they are not particularly memorable. It makes one wonder how Patterson manages to achieve such a lackluster result.

Oh, and this book? It's just like the rest, offering nothing new or exciting.

The Women's Murder Club, in their third installment, find themselves plunged into a complex and dangerous investigation. What they initially believe to be counter-culture terrorists are at the center of their inquiries. Meanwhile, Jill's husband becomes a suspect in a battery case, adding another layer of drama to the already tense situation. This book, unfortunately, doesn't quite measure up to the second one. It feels overly dramatic, and Boxer's new love interest and story seem to be a virtual replica of her experiences in the first book. However, despite these flaws, it remains a very readable piece. One can't help but wonder how Patterson manages to keep readers engaged, even when the story has its shortcomings. Overall, it earns a rating of 4 out of 12.

There were some major flaws with this book, even though I liked it.

First of all, why introduce the Jill spousal abuse issue if she was just going to be killed shortly afterwards? This might have been an interesting story line to pursue, but it was dropped too soon.

Secondly, the motivation for the murderers doesn't add up. The guy's brother, who was a murderer, is killed by the cops. So he kills the daughter of a prosecutor, a snitch, and the brother's roommate? That's his big grudge? It seems a bit far-fetched.

Also, it was so obvious that the snooty college professor was in on things. There were too many clues pointing to him, and it took the characters way too long to figure it out.

Finally, it seems to me that Lindsey's Homeland Security guy was inappropriate for starting up a relationship right in the middle of a case. If they were equals, that would be one thing, but he was sort of supervising the case. It just didn't seem right.

Overall, while the book had its good points, these flaws really detracted from the story for me.

I must admit I was disappointed.

While the story does possess the same charm as the first two installments, this particular one seemed rather rushed. It lacked the in-depth exploration that I had come to expect. I felt that Jill's entire "my husband hits me" narrative was fabricated solely for the purpose of making it seem as if he was "the one" when she was killed. I didn't like this because there was no hint whatsoever in the first two books that she was suffering at home, aside from the fact that "we are both very competitive people."

Other aspects that also seemed rushed were Cindy/Aaron. We heard so much about them in the second book, and now it's just "we broke up some months ago," as if it's no big deal.

Overall, the plot was okay, but it needed more development. Although I didn't mind them killing off Jill, I'm just a tiny bit angry about the way they chose to do it.
