For you, cin: Utter drivel, masquerading as pseudo-pop-philosophy.

To say Redfield writes novels in baby-talk would be a compliment. In fact, even saying he can write is rather generous. I could gain so-called enlightenment much faster by sticking my head in the corpse of a llama.

One repeating plot disaster that really bothered me was that he would come up with theory after asinine theory and then, suddenly presto! A scenario would occur in a feeble attempt to "prove his point." For example, "It occurred to me that people are really purple midgets that burp in the note of B-flat. Suddenly I looked up and around me was a bunch of purple midgets burping in B-flat! [Proves my point exactly!:]."

Heaven forgive us for tolerating such trash like this nonsense ever having been put into print. It's truly a travesty of literature and a waste of time for those who bother to read it. We should demand better from our authors and not settle for such drivel that passes itself off as something meaningful.

This book was lent to me by my cousin who chose it randomly in the library.

Unfortunately, it is something appalling and unreadable, a real jumble of delirious madness (people who hug trees to feel the breath of the universe), all united by New Age ideals (a sort of spiritual counterculture that collects various disciplines such as meditation, crystal therapy, reincarnation, holistic medicine, crop circles, and many other such things). There are so many strange things that make you think that the guy who wrote it must have taken certain hallucinogenic substances.

Has anyone of you really been enlightened by this book or even shocked?

In conclusion: soporific, badly written, boring, useless, crazy, ridiculous, very badly written.

This book was extremely different from what I had anticipated, and it turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable and spiritually moving read.

'Celestine Prophecy' bears a resemblance to 'The Alchemist' in that it is an adventure story centered around a spiritual journey. The book commences with the discovery of a'manuscript' that contains nine spiritual insights, which the reader gradually learns as the story unfolds.

I found the nine insights to be not only fascinating but also realistic from the perspectives of both spirituality and science. In fact, if humans on earth could lead their lives in accordance with these insights, we would witness world peace and a sustainable life for the future. I was truly inspired and uplifted by this book, and I will make an effort to apply the lessons I gleaned from Redfield's pages in my daily life.

I believe that this book has the potential to touch the hearts and minds of many readers, guiding them towards a more fulfilling and meaningful existence. It serves as a reminder that there is more to life than meets the eye and that we all have the power to make a positive difference in the world.

Overall, I highly recommend 'Celestine Prophecy' to anyone who is seeking spiritual growth, self-discovery, and a deeper understanding of the world around them. It is a book that will stay with you long after you have turned the final page.

I truly hoped that this book would live up to the acclaim that "everyone" had bestowed upon it. However, I was completely underwhelmed. The plot was painfully jejune, lacking any real depth or substance. The characters were paper-thin, with no real development or complexity. The prose was pedestrian, lacking any sparkle or originality. And for what? A handful of ridiculous "insights" about how our expectations affect the physical world and how we fight for each other's "energy." It was all so absurd and unconvincing.

Maybe if I sit down and meditate towards this book with all my might, I can somehow make it vanish permanently from my consciousness. I can't believe I wasted my time and money on such a disappointment. It just goes to show that sometimes, the hype surrounding a book can be completely unfounded. I will definitely be more cautious in the future when choosing which books to read.

An Unbelievable Book with Multiple Layers

There is an amazing book that offers two distinct ways of reading. You can choose to view it simply as an adventure story. In this regard, it follows a man who is grappling with the question of what he truly desires from life. He embarks on a journey of self-discovery, facing various challenges and obstacles along the way.

However, as I have experienced, it can also be read as a remarkable self-help book. What a powerful self-help book it is indeed! It truly has the ability to encourage you to take a deep look at yourself. It makes you reflect on how you perceive your life, not only in its past and present but also in the future. It provides valuable insights on how to adopt a more positive and active approach towards your life.

If you are open to it, this book has the potential to bring about a significant change in your life. It can serve as a guiding light, leading you towards a more fulfilling and purposeful existence.

I read this book a year or two after its publication.

I was extremely excited to come across something that seemed so relevant to my own journey of discovery in this lifetime.

This book marked the start of a serious exploration for me, challenging me to "think outside the box" of organized religion and to carefully consider every intention, thought, and action in my daily life.

I now firmly believe that all these individual elements contribute either negatively or positively to the energy flow that sustains the Universe.

But this book was the very beginning of that spiritual awakening for me, and I will always be deeply grateful for it.

As you can observe from the diverse range of Goodreads reviews, each person interprets the same book in a very different way.

For me, however, it was a true eye- and mind-opener, and I have never looked back since the moment I first finished reading it.

Instead, I have been propelled forward, and I have read it many times since, still finding it incredibly inspiring.

I can vividly recall that at the end of the book, there was a disclaimer of sorts written by the author, reminding the reader that this was a work of fiction.

And...I was truly disappointed. I remember my shoulders slumping and my head lowering.

But then...I realized...so is everything else!

I don't believe there is any one (or many) "divine" writing that we should base our lives on.

They are all written by humans and, as such, are all stories and, therefore, fiction.

This realization made me truly embark on a search for meaning in my life, unconstrained by other fictional works that are regarded as "divine." :)

For years, friends have been highly recommending the Celestine Prophecy to me.

They would say things like, "This is right up your alley!" and "You HAVE to read this book!" etc.

I approached the Celestine Prophecy with extremely high expectations, hoping for a personal and spiritual awakening similar to those I've experienced from The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom and the works written by Thich Naht Hanh. Truly, I do have a preference for a new-age perspective and believed that any book written in that style would have something valuable to teach me.

The Celestine Prophecy begins with a rather flat and tiresome plot. The main character travels to Peru in search of a forbidden, secret manuscript. This manuscript contains nine insights that are supposed to guide and advance humanity in the order they are written. The main character strolls around Peru and encounters people who then disclose the insights to him, one by one. At times, there is a sense of peril as the insights are not easily accepted by those who believe in creation. In fact, according to the author, these beliefs can be somewhat concurrent.

I didn't appreciate the way the manuscript was depicted as some forbidden document. Why was that particular twist added? It gives the impression that following the spiritual path is like being part of a hush-hush club, where those on the inside feel superior and "other." It didn't seem like an expression of love to me, even when they attempted to persuade those suppressing the manuscript to think otherwise. I felt constricted by the drama and exclusivity of the story.

Individually, the insights are indeed valuable. As another reviewer mentioned, if they were presented in a two-page pamphlet with explanations, I probably would have learned a great deal more from this book. Yes, I believe in the transfer of emotional energy. Yes, I believe in enhancing energy through nature, vegetables, and the beauty of others. Yes, I believe in the dramas we create for ourselves when we try to steal energy from others. However, every time I would start to learn and understand the insights, the story would resume, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes.

That's truly awful. I'm just extremely disappointed.

I almost gave this book a rating of 2 because after listening to the audio book version, Redfield was featured in an interview. I was actually quite impressed with his ideas and what he had to say. But why, oh why, was this written as a fictional story completely lacking in substance, character interest, or plot? I will try to redeem myself by listening to more of his interviews and attempting to understand the thoughts behind the book. I think some of them are rather good.

HATED IT

To me, this book truly left a lot to be desired. It seemed as if it was written by a college sophomore with a rather basic understanding of the subject matter. The content appeared to be directly lifted from the fundamental concepts taught in Psychology 101, specifically those related to "how to influence people to sell them a used car." It felt like a lazy compilation of such ideas.

On top of that, a very thin and loosely wrapped layer of story was added around these borrowed concepts, and voila, the book was considered ready. It lacked depth, originality, and a true sense of innovation.

I understand that some people may find this book entertaining and perhaps even enlightening in some way. However, based on my own assessment, I simply cannot bring myself to recommend it. There are far better books out there that offer more profound insights and engaging narratives.

I vividly remember the moment when this book was released, and there was an overwhelming amount of hyped-up buzz surrounding it. The man whom I was passionately in love with at that time simply raved about it, so I decided to give it a read. Here is what I recall about it: it was an absolute load of crap. The very fact that a bound collection of what I consider to be garbage could make it onto the bestseller list always manages to piss me off. (Unfortunately, this seems to happen with depressing frequency.) But this book was not only filled with a bunch of pseudo New Age enlightenment mumbo-jumbo, it was also poorly written, and that REALLY gets under my skin. So, Celestine Prophecy, you have the dubious honor of being the first book to grace my "books that pissed me off" shelf.

Side note: The same guy also went on and on about Women are from Venus, Men are from Mars, yet another book that managed to irritate me. Just thinking about it makes me angry. On reflection, I am a little dumbfounded that I could have been so deeply in love with someone who had such terrible taste in books. It's almost an unforgivable failing in a partner. However, he did write me countless pages of flowery, over-the-top prose, and I have to admit, I loved that aspect of it.
