One of the remarkable contributions to this novel is the writing style of the translator.

It has that sarcastic and caustic tone, which is both humorous and cutting. When reading the words, it feels as if one is watching a movie, with the words revealing the power of the moving images on the screen. Coupled with a storyline that is full of mystery and intrigue, it's quite okay.

"I married a son of a bitch," indeed a strange statement. How could one create a husband who is so full of useless and tiresome things like a hare emperor? The idea of throwing his wife into the sea on the wedding anniversary night for a flimsy reason, and then only knowing how to spend money on prostitutes and pretending to bring the research house to save the environment. Arrogant.

Then the wife's revenge scene is a bit unexpected, making one laugh until one cries, but not enough, still too gentle with the scumbag husband, even though it can be seen that she has suppressed so much to not kill him immediately.

In addition to the crazy drama of the two husband and wife, there are also some prominent social issues lurking. The ending shows that there are some things that cannot be solved by laws and regulations, but rather need to be dealt with by the law of the jungle. :)

After listening to the interview between Anh Bình and Vietcetera, I just decided to buy the book. The plot is just attractively appropriate, and Anh's translation is also rich in thinking and rhythm, whether it's swear words or sex scenes.

Although it's not related, when I go to FB Anh Bình Bồng Bột, I can read a really good article about the relationship between Trịnh Công Sơn and Khánh Ly. I have to go and watch the upcoming movie "Em và Trịnh" to understand it better, although I'm a bit skeptical =)).

The story in the book seems to be very engaging, and I'm looking forward to delving into it. Meanwhile, the article on FB provides an interesting perspective on the relationship between the two famous artists. It makes me curious about how the movie will portray their story. I think it will be a great experience to explore both the book and the movie.

Any book with Skink in it is a good book.

Skink is a character who brings a unique charm and excitement to the story. His presence adds an element of mystery and adventure that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.

Whether he is solving a crime, exploring a new place, or facing a difficult challenge, Skink always manages to capture our attention and make us root for him.

The way he interacts with other characters and the world around him is both entertaining and thought-provoking.

Books that feature Skink often have well-developed plots, engaging writing, and memorable characters. They take us on a journey that we don't want to end.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a good read, look no further than a book with Skink in it. You won't be disappointed.

Carl Hiaasen was highly recommended to me by librarians whom I like and share a taste in books with. Alas, I didn't share their love for Hiaasen.

Reading this book was like delving into a demented circus that was vividly drawn in brightly colored crayons within a kaleidoscope. There was just an excess of everything. There were too many characters. Every single person encountered in the story seemed to be provided with a backstory, often more bizarre than the previous one.

There was also an overwhelming amount of detail. Way too much detail. Excessive detail is a pet peeve of mine, so this might be a "me not you" issue. However, it made it difficult to concentrate on the actual storyline, which was moderately interesting and came together quite respectably by the end.

The problem was that, despite all the information given on each wildly detailed and often bizarre character, I never truly invested in any of them. There wasn't a single one that I actually liked. I was reasonably content with the resolutions for most of the characters. They were fitting. But by the end, which felt far too long in coming, I just didn't care much about that.

I didn't despise the book. There were moments that made me laugh out loud, and I appreciated the sharp jabs Hiaasen took at so many current issues, such as the environment, immigration/labor laws, government corruption, and so on. I just found it tiring, lacking enough connection or reward to make the exhaustion worthwhile.

On the other hand, I got quite the tour of Florida. If that's life down there, I'm good. I'll stay where I am, thank you.

It has been a long time since I read this kind of novel again. I just read it to kill time, and it's okay for the time being. The translation is really good!

I used to be really into this type of novel, but for some reason, I gradually drifted away from it. Recently, I randomly picked up one and started reading. At first, I just wanted to pass the time, but as I got deeper into the story, I found myself getting more and more interested. The plot was engaging, and the characters were well-developed. And I have to say, the translation was excellent. It really brought the story to life and made it easy for me to understand. Even though I'm not a native English speaker, I could still follow the story without any difficulty. Overall, it was a pleasant reading experience, and I'm glad I decided to give this novel another chance.

Continuing my ‘read the first chapter of all the books on my physical TBR shelf to see if I really want to keep them’ experiment. So far, the writing in Skinny Dip is decent and I’m quite interested in the plot. Therefore, it gets at least a temporary reprieve from the donation box.

I really enjoyed this book. In fact, I'm actually keeping it. I've also recommended it to my water treatment engineer father because I think he'll find Chaz's job or the bogus job described in the book quite interesting. Additionally, I'm going to check if my library has more Carl Hiaasen books as this one was such a fun read.

Forgot to mention that my copy has deckled edges. In my opinion, this is the most egregious sin a publisher (or whoever it is that makes decisions on that kind of thing) can commit when it comes to books. It just doesn't seem right to me.

This was the very first book that I delved into by Hiaasen, and it dates all the way back to 2007. Just like the other works of his that I have read since then, it is brimming with eccentric characters and humorous, often ludicrous escapades.

There is a wonderful blend of characters. In particular, I adored Joey's character. As she takes revenge on her despicable husband not by reporting him to the police but by slowly driving him crazy, I found myself rooting for her all the way. Way to go, girl! The story is both funny and comic. Okay, granted, some situations might stretch one's credulity a little bit. However, it never crosses the line into complete absurdity or farce. No matter what predicament some of the characters find themselves in, Hiaasen manages to make you accept that it could actually happen in such a preposterous manner.

It's great fun and is guaranteed to bring out quite a few sniggers and giggles. It's a light-hearted read that will surely put a smile on your face and transport you into a world of entertaining and wacky adventures.

Mắc cười bà cố. A husband is happily and carelessly playing tricks on his wife in the quiet night on the ship. The father-in-law seizes the wife's feet and throws her, who is still in a daze, into the sea. The wife struggles hard to swim like crazy and survives. Then she plots revenge. A crazy and brilliant scene of revenge unfolds.

Lurking in the wife's mind is what kind of misfortune has befallen her that this hateful husband wants to kill her. But along with a battalion of revengeful tricks, there is also a heart full of courage and a smile that makes her intestines turn. Just like that, this heaven and earth case is gradually clarified, revealing some loves and hatreds of the fungus of love, of the bottomless greed, of the heartless and shameless behavior, along with a sad shake of the head about the tragic situation of the destruction of the living environment. Sometimes she is happy and excited, sometimes she is sad and scared.

A simple set of tricks, but very profound about love, marriage and the wild nature. Everything is closely connected, so that in the end it is revealed that a mysterious thing is that we should not be stupid and underestimate those three things. We should know how to cherish and cherish more.

The translation is very much in the southern dialect and is very enjoyable to read. However, from the second half of the book, there are some spelling mistakes due to careless editing.

4.5 stars rounded down for a truly captivating book that combines humor and seriousness to explore the seedy underbelly of crime in Florida.

It all begins with Charles Perrone's devious plan to murder his wife by getting her drunk and callously throwing her overboard from a cruise ship. Miraculously, she survives, and instead of immediately seeking the help of the cops, she devises elaborate ways to torment her would-be killer. What ensues is a wild and wacky adventure through the Florida Everglades, filled with a cast of characters who are all too eager to cheat and steal.

Among the other memorable characters are Detective Karl Rolvaag, who is assigned to the case of the woman who went missing from the cruise ship and has a penchant for keeping 2 pet pythons. There's also Mick Stranahan, a retired police officer who stumbles upon Joey Perrone, Charles' wife. And let's not forget Red Hammernut, the owner of a farm that borders the Everglades.

This book was a library find that I simply couldn't put down. I devoured it in just 2 days, completely engrossed in the thrilling and often hilarious story. It's a must-read for anyone who enjoys a good crime caper with a touch of humor.

This book was truly a fun ride from the very beginning all the way to the end.

The humor within it provided a rather interesting and fun juxtaposition to the deeply dark theme that underlies the entire narrative.

I mean, let's face it, the main character actually tried to murder his wife and others. Lol.

I can clearly tell that this book was penned by a man. The descriptions of the characters were in such a stark contrast to the ones I usually come across while reading.

For instance, I don't know the eye color of the main character, but I'm aware that she has nice "tits" and is 5'10 and weighs 135 lbs. (A slight eye roll here.)

However, I did enjoy the satisfying conclusion where it seems like everyone finally gets what they truly deserve.

But this book has what I like to call the "twilight syndrome". The entire story unfolds within a very short period of time, taking place in less than a month. I think it was a total of three weeks, or maybe around 15 days or so.

Despite these details, I really did enjoy the story as a whole! It was a solid three-star read for me, which is about average.

Overall, it had its pros and cons, but it was still an entertaining read that kept me engaged throughout.

# Review of "Skinny Dip" by Carl Hiaasen

"Skinny Dip" is a humorous crime novel by American author Carl Hiaasen. It tells the story of a botched murder plot by an incompetent husband who has nothing going for him except his charm and a penchant for wild sex. The main victim is his beautiful, intelligent, strong, and talented wife. It's truly hard to understand why someone like her would marry such a "playboy" and not just keep a friends-with-benefits relationship with him.

The story is of the crime genre but is told in a humorous and quirky style by the author. The translator, Bình Bồng Bột, has done a relatively successful job of capturing the quirkiness and humor from the original. Although the language has a Southern dialect flavor, it doesn't pose difficulties or discomfort for a reader from the North like myself. And for me, this is the only亮点 of the book. The sharp humor can attract the reader at the beginning, but if it persists throughout the relatively long book, it becomes tiresome, uninteresting, and lonely. The author's way of solving problems is also rather strange and keeps going around in circles without a clear purpose. This, combined with the quirky language, creates an uncomfortable reverse effect. It gives the feeling that the characters' plans are very childish, erratic, and without a clear goal, even though the characters in the story are all over 30. Ugh!
While talking about this chaotic family murder case, the author also implants messages about human nature, how people should treat each other, and how people should treat the environment. It shows that the criminals are those bosses and the rich, and the dirty and cunning means used for personal gain and to destroy nature. However, the way the story is told and the situations are handled are all sloppy, clumsy, and lack persuasiveness. The Everglades swamp doesn't come across clearly and doesn't evoke the same deep emotions in me as the way Delia Owens describes another swamp in "Where the Crawdads Sing". And by the end of the story, the most impressive characters for me are Tool to xác and the old cancer-stricken woman (along with their subsequent journey), not any of the main characters.
Score: 6.5/10

When Chaz Perrone makes the fateful decision to murder his wife, little does he know that his plan will spiral out of control in the most disastrous way.

During a cruise to celebrate their anniversary, Chaz cunningly decides to toss Joey overboard. However, from that very moment, everything takes a rapid and downward turn for the worse in a way that Chaz could never have anticipated.

This book was truly an enjoyable read. The cast of characters is so vivid and memorable that they will stay with you long after you've finished the book. The amount of humor that elicits loud laughter is just perfect, adding a light and entertaining touch to the story.

Hiassen is an incredibly talented writer who brings this tale to life with his vivid descriptions and engaging narrative. He also manages to巧妙地 draw attention to the Florida Everglades and the important environmental concerns that surround them.

The ending was absolutely loved! It tied up all the loose ends in a satisfying and unexpected way.

Highly recommended, especially when you're in the mood for a light, fun read that will keep you entertained from start to finish!
