I am currently engaged in the activity of "reading". I am slowly making my way through this particular piece of literature. It has proven to be a great destresser for me. Alice în Țara Minunilor - Carte de colorat is a recent addition from Editura Litera. I've seen it on the internet several times and decided to try this adult coloring book, even though I already had a few other stress-relieving coloring books. I really liked the story of Alice, so any book related to it makes my day, and this time was no different. At first, the original illustrations in this coloring book seemed rather simple, but I later noticed that the simple ones alternate with the more complex ones. The book has an absolutely superb appearance. The golden title shines beautifully, and the illustrations on a white background look very nice, inviting you to start coloring. After creating a series of clips in which I colored in books of this type, I noticed that many of you were curious about how the book behaves with different coloring methods. I tested 3 coloring methods this time, so I'll tell you how I fared with each one.

For the first illustration, which was the one where the Red Queen orders Alice's head to be cut off, I used colored pencils. The illustration seemed more complex to me, so I started with this one to have a bit more of a challenge. I used all my colored pencils, and those from Maped - Color Peps worked very well on the smooth white page of this coloring book. I also used some Creta Color pencils, which are of good quality but didn't glide on the paper as easily as the previous ones. The coloring process can be found in my clip called "Color Alice in Wonderland" or in the blog post where I included some pictures of the final result.

I then moved on to the second drawing and used crayons and special markers (A&G Markers). I was extremely satisfied with how the whole process went, and I was glad that the paper resisted my tools. The conclusion was that the page resisted very well, the colors didn't penetrate through the texture of the page, and it's recommended not to insist too much with a crayon in one place to avoid gradually deteriorating the page. Also, don't use markers that contain a lot of alcohol as they could print on the other side of the page. The coloring process takes much less time with these tools, and your hand doesn't hurt as much as with colored pencils.

Finally, I tested watercolors from Winsor and Newton on the Mad Hatter. Again, it didn't take long to finish the drawing, and I felt more and more inspired and motivated. The conclusion was that watercolors behave very well on the page, don't use too much water and don't insist in one place if you want to avoid the slight wrinkling of the page or printing on the other side. The coloring process takes rather little time, and your hand won't hurt from it like it sometimes does with colored pencils.

I really like this coloring book and appreciate having the opportunity to see all the original illustrations by John Tenniel for Alice în Țara Minunilor in one place. These illustrations are varied, some are simple, others complex, which I think helps a lot in not getting bored and offers an alternative to finish a drawing even if you don't have a lot of time available. I highly recommend this very nice coloring book, especially if you are fans of Alice and if you like to be creative or relieve stress. The white pages are thin and allow for easy coloring and beautiful results, with the final colors being vivid.

I feel that I own the original "Tiniel" paintings - if that's the correct expression - and it's true that not all the scenes of "Alice" are in it.. but most of the important ones are.. Certainly, I wish they had added more paintings.. because I didn't buy the book for coloring.. but to keep the paintings in a large size..

This is exactly why I emphasize that it is not suitable for children.

Moreover, a significant number of the pictures have extremely tiny areas that require coloring, which means a steady hand is essential.

One needs to have a certain level of patience and precision to do justice to these intricate designs.
