After stopping reading for a few days, I return to my beloved Spanish literature. "Buitre" is one of the most important plays in Spanish theater. It writes about the suffering of human beings and their problems such as poverty, ignorance, and social injustice.
"Buitre" is famous for its opposition to the Franco regime and its open support for the Republicans. The author was imprisoned for several years and then wrote many realistic and dramatic plays for the theater. In this play, "Buitre" discusses blindness symbolically through a house for the elderly. They live in the illusion of happiness until a new tenant comes and tries to change their ideas and beliefs. After a short period, we find that his influence has emerged on some of his colleagues. But does everything go so simply?!
I recommend reading it. Please do not read the introduction or the critical analysis until you do not burn the end of the play on yourself..
With blindness as the central theme, Vallejo shows us the darkness in which man, burdened with theatricality and a tragic sense, finds himself. However, from my point of view, it is not a masterpiece of the author, although it has been idolized several times. The only scene that is fully consistent in my opinion is the one that closes the third act, where a dialogue full of meaning, significance, and contradiction is presented. The rest of the play, even though the theme is correct, seems to me to be loose, cheesy, and even forced. It is a recommended reading for starting to read theater, but not for immersing oneself in it.
The play does have its moments, but overall, it fails to live up to the expectations that have been placed on it. The characters could have been developed more deeply, and the plot could have been more engaging. There are also some elements that seem out of place or forced, which detracts from the overall experience. Despite these flaws, it is still a valuable work that can provide some insights into the themes of blindness and tragedy.
Perhaps with a more critical eye and a deeper understanding of the author's intentions, one could appreciate the play more fully. However, as it stands, it is a flawed but still interesting work that is worth reading for those who are interested in theater or the themes it explores.
I will search to see if there is anything out there that relates in the burning darkness to Marianela. Let's see (let's see eh... ironic).
This statement seems to convey a sense of mystery and anticipation. The person is determined to look for something that might have a connection to Marianela in the midst of a rather intense and perhaps somewhat foreboding darkness. The use of the word "ironic" adds an element of complexity, making one wonder what kind of unexpected relationship or discovery might be lurking in the shadows.
Perhaps the search is not just for a physical object or a specific event but for a deeper understanding or meaning that Marianela represents. It could be that the darkness symbolizes the unknown or the hidden aspects of life that the person is trying to uncover in relation to Marianela. Overall, this short passage leaves the reader with a sense of curiosity and a desire to know more about what will be found in this search.
