This book was truly HILARIOUS.

The author takes us on a journey, providing a detailed follow-up on his life after obtaining his English degree. He discovers that there is surprisingly little that directly relates to his degree in the real world.

His attitude and perspective throughout the narrative are what make it so engaging. They are flippant, yet with a dry sense of humor that is simply irresistible.

I wish I could recall every detail of this book more clearly as it has been a few years since I read it. However, one thing I do remember vividly is laughing out loud on numerous occasions and truly enjoying the experience.

It's the kind of book that leaves a lasting impression and makes you want to recommend it to everyone you know.

Funny, entertaining and dead on.

This book is truly remarkable. It doesn't hold back in its comical approach to revealing the real experiences of being a 20-something in the American workforce. The author has a unique way of presenting the challenges, the absurdities, and the joys that come with this stage of life and career. It's like a hilarious and relatable guide that makes you nod in agreement and laugh out loud at the same time.

You really should check it out. Defiantly! It's not just a book, but a source of entertainment and a mirror that reflects the reality of many young professionals. Whether you're currently in your 20s or looking back on that time, this book will surely resonate with you. So don't miss out on this gem.

This is like a truly hilarious version of Nickel and Dimed.

You simply can't accuse him of voyeurism because this is his very own real life.

The chapter that details his time spent in Alaska is especially uproarious. It sort of solidifies the "odd are good, goods are odd" theory for me.

It's as if he has stepped into a world that is both strange and wonderful, filled with experiences that are both comical and eye-opening.

The way he describes his adventures in Alaska makes you feel as if you are right there with him, sharing in his laughter and his moments of realization.

Overall, this is a story that will keep you entertained from beginning to end, and leave you with a new perspective on life and the people who live it.

Some people in this place seemingly have been irked by the author's attitude towards terrible jobs or his failure to obtain a more lucrative position.

I envision them reading this book, with some on the brink of an epiphany, changing their minds at the very last moment, while others deliberately jump into the abyss.

The book presents the truth as it is, devoid of sentimentality, intolerant of nonsense, filled with anger rather than resentment, and abundant in comic relief.

It cuts through the fluff and gets straight to the heart of the matter, unafraid to call out the harsh realities of the working world.

Perhaps it will inspire some to make a change in their own lives, while others may simply find solace in knowing that they are not alone in their experiences.

Either way, the book offers a unique perspective that is both thought-provoking and entertaining.

This is a very relatable piece that delves into the concept of being in that in-between space, where one is more than just a warm body but less than an owner or CEO. It makes for an engaging read as it explores the experiences and feelings of those in this particular position.

It would be truly fascinating to see an updated version of this after the pandemic. The pandemic has brought about significant changes in the way we work and live, and it would be interesting to observe how the demographic that this book predominantly describes has begun to discover and assert their worth in this new post-pandemic landscape.

Perhaps they have found new ways to showcase their skills and talents, or maybe they have reevaluated their priorities and are now more focused on achieving a better work-life balance. Only time will tell, but it is certain that an updated version of this would provide valuable insights into the evolving nature of work and the individuals who inhabit this unique space.

This book was truly enjoyable.

It belongs to one of the subgenres that I have a great fondness for - namely, stories about people who hold degrees in seemingly useless subjects and are stuck working crappy minimum wage jobs.

What made this particular book novel was the fact that the author was male. I'm not entirely certain if I've ever read a book written by a man in this genre before.

There was a significant amount of emphasis on the task of moving heavy boxes, perhaps more so than in most other similar works.

I'm not *terribly* convinced that there is a profound manifesto within these pages, but that's really just a minor point of contention.

Also, it's worth noting that if you're undertaking a cross-country flight, this shouldn't be the only book you bring along. I managed to read it in under 2 hours, which means it might not keep you occupied for the entire duration of your journey.

Nevertheless, it was still a worthwhile read that offered some entertainment and a unique perspective within its particular subgenre.

It really makes you burst out laughing. The way he presents the story or the situation is just so incredibly funny.

And he's a perfect writer too. His words flow smoothly, painting a vivid picture in your mind.

You can't help but be drawn into his world and enjoy every single moment of it.

His writing style is unique, with a great sense of humor and an ability to capture the essence of the subject matter.

Whether it's a short story, an article, or a blog post, he always manages to make it engaging and entertaining.

You can tell that he has a natural talent for writing and a passion for making people laugh.

Overall, this is one of the funniest things I've read in a long time, and I can't wait to see what else he has in store for us.

This was a light read that closely resembled my own situation to some extent. The protagonist worked his way through college, obtaining an English degree but also accruing a significant amount of debt. Once he graduated, he faced the challenge of finding a job that could fully utilize his skills. As a result, he embarked on a journey across America, taking on a diverse range of strange jobs.

The book was somewhat similar to the show "Dirty Jobs" in written form. He ended up从事 various crab fishing jobs in Alaska. One of these jobs, which involved sitting in a room and having fish dropped on him, and then having to push them through a hole onto a conveyor belt, he described as the worst job in the world. Additionally, he drove a truck across America, helped people move house, and cut fish in a deli, among other things.

He made several valid points about the working situation in America and higher education. However, the majority of the page space was dedicated to detailed descriptions of the jobs themselves. At times, it was quite entertaining, and I gained a great deal of knowledge about delivering oil for warming homes and performing unpleasant manual labor in Alaska. His writing had a decent voice, but it was a solid three-star read. It was moderately entertaining and informative, but not truly groundbreaking or life-altering. Nevertheless, it was a fun little read.

I don't own this.

This simple statement holds a certain truth. There are many things in this world that we do not possess. It could be material possessions like a big house, a luxury car, or valuable jewelry.

Or it could be intangible things such as fame, power, or a particular talent.

We often find ourselves longing for these things that we don't own, believing that they will bring us happiness and fulfillment.

However, it's important to realize that not owning something doesn't mean we can't still appreciate it or find value in it.

We can admire the beauty of a house without having to own it. We can be inspired by someone else's talent and use it as motivation to improve ourselves.

In the end, it's not about what we own, but how we看待 and interact with the world around us.

So funny

This is a truly hilarious and entertaining topic. It has the power to make people burst into laughter and forget about their worries for a moment. The humor it contains can range from witty remarks to absurd situations that are just too comical to ignore. Whether it's a funny story, a humorous video, or a silly joke, it has the ability to bring joy and amusement to people of all ages. The element of surprise often plays a big role in making something funny, as it catches people off guard and makes them laugh unexpectedly. Moreover, the way in which something is presented can also enhance its comical effect. A well-timed delivery or a clever use of language can turn an ordinary situation into a side-splitting one. In conclusion, the world of "So funny" is a wonderful and light-hearted place that always manages to put a smile on our faces.

What matters most is how well you walk through the fire

The absurdity and uncertainties of temporary work.
Independent workers (construction, electricity, moving, etc.) with 90-hour weeks, costs and false costs on all sides, shared between employers and employees.
The underbelly, the schemes, the aberrations of temporary work contracts.
Living off multiple jobs and overtime.

Such a great book! Before the existence of Office Space, there was this remarkable piece of literature. It is a non-fiction work, although perhaps it could be more accurately described as creative non-fiction. The book offers a detailed account of a Scottish immigrant's arduous journey through some of the most dreadful jobs one could ever imagine. Reading it can be an interesting experience, yet one can't help but feel the author's pain and frustration. He surely didn't have any fun during those difficult times. The vivid descriptions and personal anecdotes make it a captivating read, allowing the reader to step into the shoes of the immigrant and understand the challenges he faced. It's a book that not only entertains but also provides valuable insights into the lives of those who have to endure less-than-ideal working conditions.
