A play centered around two high-class ladies who possess two extremely interesting secrets. The entire play essentially consists of these two friends engaging in banter and arguments throughout. However, the way David Mamet captures this is truly shocking! These ladies exchange remarks with each other that would make one question if they are indeed "ladies." It is witty and has a fast pace. I found myself re-reading several lines just to ensure that I truly saw what I saw.

On top of the two absurd friends, there is a low-class house maid. She rarely gets to speak much as she annoys the two ladies to a great extent. She is silenced even before she opens her mouth with such lines as, "Did I call you in here? No, so get off my tits." It is dirty, inappropriate, and yet intriguing. This play will surely make you cackle with laughter. It offers a unique and engaging look into the lives and interactions of these characters, leaving the audience entertained and captivated from start to finish.

The play had some truly hilarious lines that had the audience in stitches. However, I have to admit that I couldn't quite grasp the overall point or message that the playwright was trying to convey.

It seems that David Mamet, the renowned playwright, may have some limitations in his understanding of certain complex and diverse human experiences, such as lesbianism. His portrayal of this particular aspect might not be as nuanced or accurate as one would hope.

Perhaps a deeper exploration and more in-depth research into the subject matter could have led to a more profound and meaningful representation. Nevertheless, despite these shortcomings, the play still managed to entertain with its comical moments and engaging dialogue.

It serves as a reminder that even the most talented writers can have areas where they need to grow and expand their understanding to create more inclusive and accurate works of art.

I liked this better than the previous contact I have had with Mamet's work.

I think it might have been more palatable because all of the characters are women. The female perspective adds a unique flavor to the story, allowing for a different exploration of themes and emotions.

Also, it is set in a more formal time period which makes the formality of the language less difficult to accept. The historical context gives a sense of authenticity and makes the dialogue more believable within that particular era.

Even more, this time I actually appreciated the specificity of the cues that Mamet gives the actors in his sentence construction, punctuation, and italicization. These details provide valuable guidance for the performers, enabling them to bring the characters to life more vividly.

It has a lot of humor and I think it would be fun to work on and to watch. The comical elements add an element of lightness and entertainment, making it an enjoyable experience for both the actors and the audience. Overall, this work of Mamet's has left a positive impression on me and I look forward to exploring more of his works in the future.
