I truly loved the prose in this work.

The way the words were strung together was like a beautiful melody that danced across the pages.

However, when considering it as an autobiography, it left me with a certain sense of dissatisfaction.

As an autobiography, I expected more in-depth exploration of the author's life experiences, emotions, and the events that shaped them.

While the prose was engaging, it sometimes felt as if it skimmed the surface, not delving deep enough into the author's personal story.

I craved for more intimate details, the raw and unfiltered moments that would have made the autobiography more relatable and impactful.

Despite this, I still appreciate the beauty of the prose and the effort that went into creating it.

It just fell short of meeting my expectations as a comprehensive and fulfilling autobiography.

Pasternakovljeva poetičnost doživljava izražaj čak i u njegovoj autobiografiji. Ona se nalazi u načinu kako on finim detaljima raspreda sopstvenu priču, što dodatno produbljuje samu knjigu slojevitošću.

Autobiografija se sastoji od tri dela. Svaki dio je delimično posvećen određenim ljudima koji su imali značajan uticaj na Pasternaka u različitim periodima njegovog života. Na početku imamo Skrjabina, koji je bio i mentor i značajna persona za Pasternaka. On je njegov mišljenje o muzici i njeno shvatanje produbio. Pasternak smatrao je da je kao pijanista neuspešan zbog nedostatka apsolutnog sluha.

Posle Skrjabinog dolazi deo o Hermanu Koenu, filozofu koji je uticao na Pasternaka tokom njegovog studija u Nemačkoj. Bliskost koja se javlja izazvana je prisnošću koju je sam filozof stvorio. Ova spona predstavlja važnu tačku na tom delu duži njegove života.

Na kraju, poslednji deo nudi priču o Majakovskom kao kulminaciju i savršen udarac kraja. Pasternak i Majakovski bili su prijatelji, a njihov odnos bio je kompleksan i zanimljiv. Ovde Pasternak nudi savršeno komponovanu priču koja stavlja Majakovskog u glavnu ulogu, što ukazuje na divljenje koje pisac oseća prema njemu nakon svih nesuglasica i ljubomornih ispada. Čak je i opis dana smrti Majakovskog potresan. Pasternak se nakon toga našao u njegovom stanu, u društvu tela i prijatelja koji su bili očevidno potreseni neočekivanom odlukom velikana.

Glavna mana autobiografije je njenost. U nekim trenucima neki deo može izgledati kao od šale, dok drugi može biti previše oštar. Zato sam dala jednu trojku, iako je realno 3.5.

I read this book in Dutch when I was only 17.

It is an autobiography written by a Russian writer.

Although I don't remember much of the content now, I still vividly recall the lyrical pages that described the birch forest.

The beautiful and peaceful image of the birch forest depicted in the book left a deep impression on me.

After reading those pages, I was filled with a passionate desire to take the Transsiberic train.

I imagined myself sitting on the train, passing through vast plains, magnificent mountains, and dense forests.

I wanted to亲眼 see the beautiful scenery along the way and experience the unique charm of the Transsiberian Railway.

This desire has accompanied me ever since and has become one of my dreams.

I hope that one day, I can fulfill this dream and embark on this wonderful journey.

I read the Indonesian translation of the book titled "Jalan Udara" which was translated by Diva Press. The language metaphor used by Pasternak seems to me to be overly excessive. For example, this sentence: "The last train from the city rumbled into the station. After crying out and pouring out its heart, the train became happy after turning and started to burst out laughing." LOL *_*, for me this is not a translation error but the writing quality of Pasternak which is really bad. Maybe I should try other works of Pasternak because anyway there is always a second chance for a writer to prove to his readers that he is really a good writer. Moreover, Pasternak is one of the Nobel Prize winners in Literature. Maybe one day I will try to read his best work, Dr. Zhivago.
