If you have a passion for Jim Morrison, then you'll find that some of his poems are truly remarkable. They possess a unique charm and depth that can touch the soul.

However, it's also true that there are others that might seem like mere nonsensical scribblings at first glance. But for a die-hard fan, this collection is an absolute must-have.

It's as if these poems offer a window into Morrison's complex and creative mind. Whether they make perfect sense or not, they all contribute to the overall tapestry of his artistry.

Each poem has the potential to evoke different emotions and interpretations, depending on the reader's perspective. So, even if some of them seem a bit strange or incomprehensible, they still hold a certain allure for those who are dedicated to the legacy of Jim Morrison.

The collected works of the frontman of the group "The Doors", Jim Morrison.

His songs are not conventional but rather intriguing, with themes of a mysterious nature that stretch and unfold. Motifs such as outlaws, snakes, shamans, Indians, sex, and drugs are often mentioned.

"To be drunk is a good thing, I drink so that I can talk to the assholes. Including myself."

This unique style and content have earned his works a score of 7.6/10.

It is clear that Jim Morrison's contributions to music are significant and have left a lasting impact on the industry and his fans alike.

I firmly believe that Jim Morrison's approach to poetry bore a resemblance to the ancient Oriental method expounded by Wei T'ai in the 11th century.

According to Wei T'ai, "Poetry presents the thing to convey the feeling. It should be precise about the thing and reticent about the feeling. For once the mind responds and connects with the thing, the feeling reveals itself in words, and this is how poetry deeply touches us. If the poet directly presents overwhelming feelings without holding anything back for an aftertaste, he can only stir us superficially. He cannot make our hands and feet involuntarily wave and tap in time, let alone strengthen morality and refine culture, set heaven and earth in motion, and call up spirits!"

Morrison himself mentioned this about poetry in an interview. "Listen, real poetry doesn't say anything. It just lists the possibilities. It opens all doors. You can walk through any one that suits you... And that's why poetry appeals to me so much - because it's so eternal. As long as there are people, they can remember words and combinations of words. Nothing else can survive a holocaust but poetry and songs. No one can remember an entire novel. No one can describe a film, a piece of sculpture, a painting, but as long as there are human beings, songs and poetry can continue."

If my poetry aims to achieve anything, it's to liberate people from the limited ways in which they see and feel.

Morrison has had a lasting influence on my work for over 20 years. I recall classes in graduate school where his poems or name would come up, always in a dismissive manner. Yet, his poetry books have been among the top sellers of all time in that genre and continue to be so. Morrison had a Blakean poetic sensibility and a Nietzschian philosophy, a terrifying combination if you think about it. He sought to break free from the "Mind Forged Manacles" that Blake spoke of and also desired a "World as a will to power and nothing more" as Nietzsche mentioned.

There is something eternal and powerfully visionary about Morrison's work that endures. He was and still is a controversial figure, a poet who attempted to recreate the theater of Artaud in a way that would inspire later performers like Alice Cooper and Marilyn Manson. I believe that Morrison's contribution to modern poetry is far more significant than what he is currently being credited with in the academic world.

* Notes about Morrison regarding his poetry by the poet Michael McClure: "One of the things I like about this biography is that it shows that Jim knew himself to be a poet. That was the basis of my friendship and brotherhood with him. I know of no better poet of Jim's generation. Few poets have been such public figures or entertainers (perhaps Mayakovsky in Russia in the twenties and thirties), and none have had such a brief or powerful career."

Jim Morrison was, above all else, a writer.

During his short 27 years, he dabbled in various forms of writing. He penned poetry, prose, song lyrics, film scripts, and plays. You name it, he wrote it. Here, we have a collection of his poetry.

This book was a find from my student days at NCSU in Raleigh. I can't recall exactly, but I suspect it might have been the first book I bought from Edward McCay's, which would be the first of many. It sat in my pile of unread books until recently.

Even before delving into the afterword, it's evident that this collection is sourced directly from Morrison's notebooks and journals. Likely, a significant portion of the work is unfinished. The editors have even included photocopies of pages with Jim's original, rough handwriting.

Where possible, the editors attempted to maintain the work in chronological order, despite Jim's apparent lack of dating for much of it. Presumably, he intended to wait and date the final version of the poem once he was content with it. It's definitely an engaging read that offers a unique glimpse into the mind of this iconic writer.

I grew up in an environment filled with the wonderful sounds of classic rock, all thanks to my parents. Their love for this genre introduced me to a world of great music. Among the many bands, listening to The Doors always brings back a flood of nostalgic memories for me. It's like taking a trip down memory lane.

The poetry in this book is truly unique. Some of it is extremely 'out there', pushing the boundaries of what one might expect. It challenges our perceptions and makes us think in new and different ways. However, there are also quite a few entries that are simply beautiful and philosophical. They touch on the deeper aspects of life, love, and the human experience.

Overall, this combination of the familiar and the unexpected makes the book a truly interesting read. It allows us to explore the creative mind of the poet while also唤起 our own emotions and memories. Whether you're a fan of classic rock or simply interested in poetry, this book is definitely worth checking out.

Fucking beautiful.

This simple yet powerful expression encapsulates a profound sense of admiration and awe.

When we encounter something that is truly remarkable, whether it's a breathtaking natural景观, a work of art that touches our souls, or a moment of pure joy and inspiration, we might find ourselves using this phrase to convey our intense emotions.

It's a way to express our unfiltered appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us in this world.

Sometimes, the beauty we encounter is so overwhelming that words seem inadequate, and "fucking beautiful" becomes the only way to truly capture the essence of the experience.

It's a phrase that can be used in both casual and formal settings, depending on the context and the relationship between the speakers.

In conclusion, "fucking beautiful" is a phrase that holds a special place in our language and our hearts, allowing us to express our deepest feelings of wonder and admiration for the beauty that exists in our lives.

I rate Jim Morrison's poetry in the same vein as I do John Lennon's famous doodles. Technically speaking, they range from borderline atrocious to fair, with the occasional glimmer of craft and insight. However, it is their creator that renders them so fascinating.

Replete with copies of Morrison's handwritten work and photos, Wilderness: The Lost Writings is a collection of simple yet enigmatic phrasings that are made even more interesting due to the writer's fame and infamy. This is best suited for Morrison fans, especially those who are still young and receptive to basic couplets about the various aspects of love, lust, and elementary existentialism.

The sample poem within the collection goes like this: What are you doing here?
What do you want?
Is it music?
We can play music.
But you want more.
You want something & someone new.
Am I right?
Of course I am.
I know what you want.
You want ecstasy
Desire & dreams.
Things not exactly what they seem.
I lead you this way, he pulls that way.
I'm not singing to an imaginary girl.
I'm talking to you, my self.
Let's recreate the world.
The palace of conception is burning.

Look. See it burn.
Bask in the warm hot coals.

You're too young to be old
You don't need to be told
You want to see things as they are.
You know exactly what I do
Everything

When I was a teenage, diehard Doors fan, I devoured this. Now, not so much.

Jim Morrison had a profound impact on my life during my college days. Ironically, he was already deceased at that time, yet it remains a fact. I have a deep affection for numerous poems in this collection. However, one poem truly stands out for me at this moment. After having experienced the fall and now going through the winter for the first time in many years, this poem strikes a chord within me.

A man is seen raking leaves into a heap in his yard, forming a pile. He then leans on his rake and proceeds to burn them completely. The fragrance that emanates fills the entire forest. The children playing nearby pause and take notice of the smell. Little do they know that this very smell will turn into nostalgia for them in several years' time.

This simple yet evocative poem by Jim Morrison seems to capture a moment in time, a moment that is both ordinary and extraordinary. It makes me reflect on the passage of time and how the simplest of things can leave a lasting impression on our lives.

He's the only one (so far) I can respect as a poet.

I can clearly observe the profound effect of film and theater on his poetry. It's as if he is masterfully directing our collective unconsciousness. He marches out these archetypes, allowing them to vividly act out his scenarios. At the same time, he permits the influence of the Old Man, the Joker, the Shaman, and the Whore. It's all about coniunctio oppositorum, baby. The atmosphere, within the magic circle... (Alas, it's all lost in translation.) He was truly a conjurer. But the question lingers: is it the words or the rhythm that holds the key to his magic? With his eyes, I could catch a glimpse.

What a sophisticated man he is!

His poetry is truly remarkable. It is not only filled with profound meanings but also quite obscure, which makes it all the more captivating.

You won't come across poetry that is more meaningful and yet more difficult to understand simultaneously. It is amazing poetry created by a truly amazing man.

At times, you may find yourself completely confused while reading his works, not being able to fully grasp the intended messages.

However, at other times, you will suddenly feel that everything clicks and you are able to piece together the complex web of ideas he has woven.

His poetry has this unique ability to both baffle and enlighten, leaving you in a state of constant wonder and admiration for his creative genius.

It was fine....kinda...

To be honest, Jim's poetry is a bit all over the place.

There are a lot of poems in here that I just couldn't finish.

The reason being that they were either really bad or had a weird structure.

Some of them just made no sense at all.

It seems like Jim might need to work on his writing skills or find a more consistent style.

Maybe he should take some writing classes or get some feedback from other poets.

Overall, I was a bit disappointed with this collection of poems.

However, I do believe that Jim has potential and could improve with some practice and guidance.

I would be interested to see what he comes up with in the future.
