These are rather dull little cards. Unless you have a completist urge regarding this gentleman's work, they don't offer much. There are few moments of inspiration and only a couple turn out to be memorable. Most consist of reproaches of various kinds, frustrated attempts to arrange a date, complaints about several work and health matters... The attached poems are infamous and the illustrations are on a par.

It is worth it -that's for sure- to get an idea of what it must have been like to maintain a relationship with the oligophrenic of Pessoa.

It is appropriate that the edition of these letters of Fernando Pessoa be preceded by the famous poem that says “All love letters are / ridiculous. / They would not be love letters if they were not / ridiculous”, dated 1935, therefore, after the author's relationship with Ophélia Queiroz, and written by Álvaro de Campos. I say this not only because of the irony, but also because this heteronym is not only a habitual reference in the first phase of the amorous correspondence, but also plays an active role in the later phase.

In an old-fashioned courtship, in which Pessoa limited himself to little more than accompanying the 19-year-old girl from work to home, passing by her window at an agreed time and exchanging letters with her, Álvaro de Campos seems to play the role of a troublemaker or that interfering friend who is not in favor of the connection.

A wretched and miserable individual called Fernando Pessoa, my particular and dear friend, has entrusted me with communicating to Your Excellency – considering that his mental state prevents him from communicating anything, even to a dry pea (example of obedience and discipline) – that Your Excellency is prohibited from: 1) weighing fewer grams, 2) eating little, 3) not sleeping at all, 4) having a fever, 5) thinking about the individual in question.

These “Love Letters” are divided into two periods: from March to November 1929, which ends with a very disenchanted goodbye...

Time, which ages faces and hair, also ages, but even more quickly, violent affections. Most people, because they are stupid, manage not to notice this, and think that they still love because they have contracted the habit of feeling in love. If it were not so, there would be no happy people in the world. Superior creatures, however, are deprived of the possibility of such disillusionment, because they can neither believe that love lasts, nor, when they feel it is over, deceive themselves by taking for it the esteem, or the gratitude, that it left. (...) As for me... Love has passed.

...and from September 1929 to January 1930, in which the lovesick man, in whom I confess I see no great interest, is replaced by the fascinating and brilliant writer as we know him.

If in the first phase of the correspondence, the poet is less of a faker and, in truth, more sentimental, in the second phase, confession gives way to creation and makes access to these texts a huge privilege.

Besides, my life revolves around my literary work – good or bad, whatever it is, or may be. Everything else in life has a secondary interest for me: there are things, of course, that I would like to have, others that it doesn't matter whether they come or not. It is necessary that all those who deal with me be convinced that I am like this, and that demanding from me the feelings, moreover very worthy, of a vulgar and banal man, is like demanding that I have blue eyes and blonde hair.

“Un beso que dure solamente el tiempo que el mundo tenga aún que durar.”

This beautiful quote seems to convey a sense of longing and the idea that a kiss should last as long as the world itself. It makes one think about the power and significance of a single moment of connection.

“Son muchas las cosas que quiero, pero he de conformarme con con el deseo.”

Here, it is expressed that there are many things one desires, but one must come to terms with just having the desire. It reflects on the reality that sometimes we cannot have everything we want and must find contentment in the longing itself.

These book quotes offer profound insights into human emotions and the nature of desire. They make us pause and reflect on our own lives and the things that truly matter. #bookquotes

In the Turkish translation of "A small bundle of love letters", there were things like "my beautiful girl" and "my little baby", so I was curious when reading it.

Love letters have always held a special charm. They are a means of expressing deep emotions and affection. The words written in those letters can transport the reader to a world of love and tenderness.

When we come across translations of such love letters, it gives us a unique perspective. We can see how different cultures express love and endearment. In this case, the Turkish translation added a touch of cuteness with the phrases "my beautiful girl" and "my little baby".

It makes us wonder about the relationships and emotions that were behind those letters. What kind of love did the writer have for the recipient? How did the recipient feel when reading those words?

Love letters are a precious part of our literary and cultural heritage. They allow us to peek into the hearts and minds of people from different times and places. Whether in the original language or in translation, they have the power to touch our hearts and make us believe in the beauty of love.

Rewriting and expanding this text, we get:

I started to try to understand Pessoa's inner world by reading his "Book of Disquiet" with the pleasure of reading his shy sentences. I read it thinking and feeling, not wanting it to end at all. When I saw his love for his fiancée in these letters with their fluctuations, I realized how much I missed reading Pessoa.

He is among the writers whose all works I will read.

It is truly ridiculous those beings who do not write love letters!

From epistolary literature, this has been one of the books that I have enjoyed the most.

The power of love letters is immense. They have the ability to convey emotions that words spoken aloud often fail to express. In a world where communication has become so instantaneous and often lacking in depth, the act of sitting down and penning a love letter is a lost art.

This book, with its beautiful collection of love letters, takes us on a journey through the hearts and minds of those who have fallen in love. It shows us the passion, the longing, and the tenderness that love can inspire.

Reading these letters is like peeking into the most intimate moments of someone's life. It makes us realize that love is a universal language that transcends time and space.

Whether you are in love or not, this book is a must-read. It will remind you of the beauty and power of love, and perhaps even inspire you to pick up a pen and write a love letter of your own.

"It's better to feel pain, than nothing at all.." Sonuç olarak, "So keep your head up, keep your love, keep your head up, my loveeee..." gibi bir ruhla devam etmek gerekir.

Each letter is filled with a sentiment that only the one who wrote it can express.

These are very beautiful phrases and are quick to read.

Letters have a unique charm. They carry the thoughts, emotions, and experiences of the writer.

When we read a letter, we are given a glimpse into the heart and mind of the person who penned it.

The words on the page come alive, painting a vivid picture of the sender's world.

Whether it's a love letter, a letter of friendship, or a letter of encouragement, each one holds a special place in our hearts.

The beauty of a letter lies not only in the words themselves but also in the effort and care that went into writing it.

It is a tangible expression of love, respect, and connection.

So, the next time you receive a letter, take a moment to savor the words and the sentiment behind them.

Let the beauty of the letter touch your heart and remind you of the power of human connection.

Hermosoooo <3. I love reading letters. I'm really a nobody, but I have curiosity about how other people perceive and feel about the world.

It's fascinating to think that each person has their own unique perspective and experiences that shape their understanding of everything around them.

Maybe through reading their letters, I can catch a glimpse of their inner worlds and gain a better appreciation for the diversity of human nature.

Even though I'm just an ordinary person, this curiosity gives me a sense of connection to others and makes me more aware of the beauty and complexity of the world we live in.

I hope to continue exploring these different perspectives and learning from them, because I believe it enriches my own life and makes me a more empathetic and understanding person.

Cumprimentos!

This is Cara Ofélia's message expressing her frustration with a certain girl who she believes prevented her from giving a higher score to a book due to its repetitiveness. She emphasizes that the Ibis is not an ordinary man and thus has different aspirations. She suspects that it would have been very difficult for him to make the girl happy as they were so different. She also thanks Ofélia for keeping the letters of the Nininho, which help to know and understand the man behind the genius. Finally, she sends her greetings.

I am no longer influenced by male writers who write with tears. I can say that I have developed and changed.

With this opportunity, I have also given up reading the author's other books.

I used to be deeply moved by their works, but now I find that I have outgrown that stage.

I have my own way of looking at the world and my own understanding of life.

I no longer need to rely on the emotions and perspectives of others to shape my own thoughts.

Although those male writers may have their own merits, for me, it is time to move on and explore new literary territories.

I believe that there are many other wonderful books and authors waiting for me to discover.

Maybe in the future, I will find new sources of inspiration and growth in different literary works.
