While I have not read this specific volume, I have delved into all of these plays and witnessed them in various manifestations. "Suddenly" was transformed into a rather excellent film. "Period of Adjustment" was also brought to the screen with capable actors, yet it was not as intrinsically outstanding a play as the other three. "Orpheus Descending" is truly challenging to stage. However, on those rare occasions when it is well-cast (even though casting Chance adequately is nearly impossible), well-designed, and well-directed, it can possess great power - and be extremely dark indeed. "Summer and Smoke" is one of his earlier plays and performs quite well, although it doesn't quite reach the pinnacle of Williams's very best works. Nevertheless, it still remains rather good!
