I read the first 4 books in The Women of the Otherworld series several years ago. I still remember that I was a little bored with the last one among those first four, so I put off continuing the series until now. However, I'm extremely happy that I finally picked this book up.

Haunted mainly follows Eve, who is the mother of Savannah. She is a ghost, and it was truly great fun to read about the afterlife from her perspective. The description of the afterlife was vivid and imaginative, which made me feel as if I was experiencing it along with Eve. Additionally, I really liked the romance in this book. Eve and Kristoff had a sweet relationship, and their interactions were full of tenderness and charm. Their love story added an extra layer of depth and warmth to the whole plot.

All in all, reading Haunted was a really enjoyable and fun experience for me. It made me realize that I should not have put off continuing this series for so long. I'm looking forward to reading the next books in the series and seeing what other adventures and stories await me.

A stunning return-to-form by Armstrong after what I felt to be a bit of a sag in Industrial Magic. And trust me, a sag for Armstrong is like a filler episode of Battlestar Galactica. It may not be the best of the series, but it's still better than 99% of everything else out there!

I was skeptical about reading an entire book from the POV of a dead woman. However, she went and got me!

Armstrong's version of the afterlife is incredible. It's something I could have only dreamed of, and now is pretty much what I hope the afterlife actually is. Hell, themed cities? Come on! It's truly amazing!

She also introduced one of my new favorite characters in the entire series -- Trsiel! He caught my attention like a character hasn't done since Clayton way back in the first book. (Those who have heard me discuss this book in any length know -- Clay is my favorite character by a long shot!)

To be honest, I almost expected Eve to end up with him!

I adored this book. It definitely deserves five stars!

I have an absolute passion for this book!!

In the Otherworld series, I have a deep connection with all the characters, yet none can compare to Eve. I am overjoyed to possess the first print of most of her books, and they seem to be aging just as rapidly as we are!

Without spoiling the story, the way Eve experiences her afterlife while striving to maintain contact with Paige and Savannah is truly fascinating to read. It has a touch of the paranormal, a blend of beliefs regarding the afterlife (perhaps purgatory would be a more fitting term).

As much as I adored the entire series, this particular book will be the first one I reach for to reread. It is simply astonishing and hooks you from the very beginning. Eve's adventures, such as observing some of the notorious events we are familiar with (there are some infamous axe murder scenes where she can't intervene but instead observes and uncovers interesting truths), are captivating. The Weavers assign her thrilling missions, and there isn't a single dull moment.

I want to emphasize that I am not being compensated, gifted, or receiving anything in return for this review. It is entirely my own. I would highly recommend this book, even as a standalone! The only drawback of the series is that Eve doesn't have her own book again (yes, she makes appearances in some anthologies, but it's not quite the same). I believe Kelley Armstrong has a remarkable vision of the afterlife, as demonstrated by this book. I have never come across anything quite like it, and it definitely did not disappoint!!!!

Sadly, this installment is my least favourite in the series thus far.

I had been excitedly anticipating the refreshing perspective of battling evil from Heaven, or perhaps an alternative dimension. However, this particular book truly fell flat for me.

I found the character of Eve to be rather uninteresting and one dimensional. She lacked depth and complexity, making it difficult for me to engage with her on a meaningful level.

And don't even get me started on how annoying and uninteresting the Nix was. The Nix's presence added little to the story and failed to capture my attention or spark my imagination.

Thankfully, there is always hope for the next installment. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be more to my liking and will reignite my passion for this series.

I have a great passion for fantasy, which is why I was eager to read this book. Previously, I had only delved into young adult fantasy, and this time, I craved something that focused more on adults rather than teenagers. I had watched the TV show based on this series and had always been curious to explore the books. During the lockdown, I re-watched the TV show and was reminded of how much I adored it. I then decided to embark on reading this series, and I was not let down by the first couple of books. In fact, I was so intrigued that I couldn't wait to find out what would happen next.

This particular book centers around Eve Levine. We've encountered her a few times before, but now she is deceased and discovers that the afterlife isn't as wonderful as it's made out to be. Eve has a rebellious streak and has broken numerous rules, yet she has always been true to her word and never broken a promise, not even during her three years in the afterworld. When the fates come calling and demand that she pay a debt she had vowed to fulfill, she has no option but to comply. For centuries, one of the most malevolent creatures in the ghost world has been wreaking havoc on humanity, eluding every attempt to capture her. Now, it is Eve's responsibility to apprehend this demi-demon known as the Nix, who possesses the bodies of would-be killers and forces them to carry out their murderous deeds. The mission takes a personal turn when the Nix targets those Eve holds dear, including Savannah.

Sadly, just like the previous book, this one also left me disappointed. I found it extremely challenging to engage with the story, despite being familiar with and having grown to love the characters. I believe the introduction of additional supernatural beings, such as the Nix, the pirates, and the Angels, was a misstep. It didn't have the same charm and appeal as the romance and fantasy I was accustomed to. There was an overabundance of political intrigue involving the fates and the angels, which detracted from the overall enjoyment. While I liked the concept of Eve trying to atone for her past actions, there were too many explanations of things that had not been previously mentioned, which made the story feel convoluted.

Nevertheless, I still have a soft spot for this series. I'm disappointed that this book didn't meet my expectations, but I'm not giving up on it. The characters are truly great, and I was really hoping to see more of the Pack from the first book. However, I understand why Eva was the central focus of this novel, considering the events of the previous one. I adored the banter between Paige and Lucas and was delighted to see how their relationship has blossomed. It's hard to believe they're now married! I missed Elena and Clay and was frustrated that they weren't in this book at all. I also liked getting to know more about Jaime and am still rooting for her and Jeremy. Although I still prefer the first book, this one wasn't terrible, and I'm eagerly anticipating the next installment in the series. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has a passion for fantasy novels.

In my honest opinion, this particular book truly sucked when compared to the ones I've read up until now. It took me an eternity to read this, and it never usually takes me this long to finish a book. Unless, of course, I'm not really into it and struggling to get through it because there's more to the series and I don't want to get lost in some minor detail from a previous book that I didn't read. However, I'm glad that Eve and Kris got back together and are all lovey-dovey and such. The whole concept of a half-demon becoming an angel, though, was a little too far-fetched for my taste. But hey, whatever works in this case. Basically, I just didn't have the same feeling as I did with the other books in the series so far.

For pacing and plot line, I believe this has been the better book of the series thus far.

In the beginning, I held a bit of prejudice as the ghost angle didn't appeal to me. When a protagonist can't interact with the physical world, the story seems to lack power. However, it worked extremely well in this story as Eve traverses through many different planes. The author always imparts a darker edge to her stories, and both the good and bad guys don't shy away from violence and repulsive deeds. This is the best quality of this series. I always know that I'll be hit hard in the gut sooner or later in the story.

I truly liked Eve. She is unapologetically herself. In her life, she made questionable choices and earned her reputation, but she is simply a woman who decided to take control of her life, protecting herself and her daughter in the only way she deemed possible. Even when she is not forthcoming and knows she is being selfish, she admits it without making excuses. I think she is simply a realist.

The romantic part was even less prominent than in the other books of the series, but there was love. The relationship between Eve and Kristof appeals to me greatly. They are older than the average romantic protagonists, and I think the author did a wonderful job in depicting a sentiment that has been weathered by time and emerged stronger for it, a love deeply rooted in Eve and Kristof. It was evident in the comfort they gave each other, in the comfortable way they asked for help and showed their weaknesses. It was refreshing.

The world building was very rich and interesting, and Eve's enemy, the Nix, was a worthy opponent, especially because she was deliciously deranged.

Overall, it was a surprisingly enjoyable read.

I truly did enjoy this book. It has been several years since I first read it, but when I picked it up again recently, I found that my enjoyment of it had not diminished in the slightest. In fact, it was just as engaging and captivating as it was the first time around. The story, the characters, and the writing all came together to create a truly wonderful reading experience. I was completely immersed in the world that the author had created and found myself reluctant to put the book down. It is rare to find a book that can have such a lasting impact and still be just as enjoyable upon a second reading. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a great read.

This book once more shifted to a new main protagonist's point of view, and I still find it somewhat perplexing each time.

Although I do value the chance to gain a more profound understanding of each of these characters, it does disrupt some of the previously established connections from the previous books.

I would have preferred to have the different storylines coincide more effectively at the same time or at least cover what occurs to the other characters to a greater extent.

Given the ethereal state of the main protagonist in this book, the majority of the story took place in various spirit-vistas and/or past lives. These were quite imaginative, but they lacked some stable foundations to fully engage me as a reader, causing me to become disengaged at various points.

For the first time in the series, I am uncertain about what the next book will be about.

Ah, this book in the series has now become my new favorite - for now anyway. I am truly amazed by how much I liked Eve and Kristof as the leads. It turns out that Eve isn't as bad as those who survived her made her out to be. Oh, don't misunderstand me. She wasn't the best person either. She can only be regarded as somewhat of a good person. One thing I'm certain of is that she isn't evil. Both she and Kristof are a bit morally bankrupt, but neither of them is truly evil. The biggest surprise, however, was just how much I fell in love with Kristof as a male lead. Goodness gracious, that man is wonderful. As far as male PNR characters go, I can't say that Kristof is conventionally sexy, but he is good-looking enough. And the way he loves Eve and his children makes him sexy in his own unique way. He is one incredibly great man. I love, love, love Kristof. I love him with Eve. He seriously helped her progress in her afterlife.

The story this time around involved Eve being given a job by the Fates to track down a demi-demon called a Nix. This Nix liked inhabiting the bodies of women with a tendency towards murder so that she could feed on the chaos. Along the way, Eve received help from Kristof, Jaime, and an angel named Trsiel. This was a really wild story, and we got to see a lot more of the ghost world that Paige and Lucas entered in Industrial Magic. I really adored this one. It was crazy, there was a bit more gore, and I felt that it was a bit darker and grittier than the previous books.

The last couple of chapters were extremely intense. I was seriously wondering if Eve would be able to pull this off in the best possible way. In the end, she made a huge sacrifice, and I felt proud of her. The downside of that sacrifice was almost too much to bear, but I was glad that the Fates were able to work something out. I would not have been happy if they hadn't even attempted to do something to make Eve happy.

The book was just really good. I'm sure we'll be seeing more of Eve in the future. Especially since Jaime's book is coming up, and Eve would definitely be a great help to a necromancer.

This wasn't a bad book at all. It was actually fairly action-packed, which kept me engaged throughout. I must admit that I really enjoyed the last couple of chapters. However, it was definitely my least favorite of the series so far. But, I have to say that I love this series, so I'm determined to read them all in order.

Just like all the books in this series, it includes a plethora of characters we've already met. But this time, it focuses on one particular "woman of the Otherworld" - Eve Levine. I think there were three things that made this book less enjoyable for me.

Firstly, Eve Levine is dead. It's been a while since I started this series, but I believe she was dead even before the series began. I'm not entirely sure why, but I found it harder to "care" about a ghost. Maybe it's because there's a certain distance when dealing with a spirit.

Secondly, Eve Levine isn't a very nice person. This really isn't a spoiler as we've heard a bit about her before this book, and most of it wasn't very good. She's okay as a bit player, but I tend to like a book better when I can sympathize with the lead character. It's hard to get fully invested when the main character isn't someone you can root for.

Finally, this one had more of what I call "real life" violence in it. This is completely my own personal strange thing, but for some reason I can handle bloody vampire and werewolf stories without a problem, but I freak out over serial killer books. And this one had a nice collection of serial killers in it, which just didn't sit well with me.

If those three things don't bother you, and you've liked the others in the series, then you might enjoy this one just fine. It all depends on your personal preferences and what you're looking for in a book.
