4.5*
I truly thought I had rated this one already! I'll have to go and look back. This, without a doubt, is the most effective way to quit, for life. I'm quite certain of it. Try to come up with a better one once you finish reading this. Only King could have come up with such a brilliant idea!
********And for goodness' sakes, I completely agree with Carol. Who in the world thought it was okay to give away that much of a short story in a synopsis? I think they need a STOP WRITING SYNOPSES program specifically designed for writers like this, perhaps even by King himself.*******
***Just recently, I watched the 1985 version of this short story in Cat's Eye. This story is the first of three shorts, with two being from the Night Shift book (the third was made exclusively for the film). That's where I initially thought I had rated it! However, I haven't finished all the stories in it yet, only about 5 so far. I haven't watched the other two because I need to finish the book first. It was quite good. In fact, I didn't even feel the urge to try the newer version. But I did feel that it missed out on the perfect ending that the story had in the book. Although the movie's ending was good, I think they could have added another 30 seconds to include the one from the book. Naturally, the cat, which had the tiniest role in the story, has a much bigger part in the movie (along with Drew Barrymore). I think this ties the stories together for the movie, but it's not really in the book. **An interesting little fact: the beginning of this movie includes a red 1958 Plymouth Fury. It's just a little something fun for Constant Readers to catch. :)
