The last story in this book, "Changing of the Skin" by George R.R. Martin, I really liked a lot.

It is a very captivating tale and although the ending is a bit weak, overall the plot is one of those that you start reading and don't put it down until you finish it.

The story takes you on a journey through a world filled with mystery and unexpected twists. The characters are well-developed and you can't help but become invested in their fates.

Martin's writing style is engaging and descriptive, making it easy to picture the scenes and events in your mind.

Even though the ending might not be as strong as some readers would like, it still manages to tie up the loose ends and leave you with a sense of satisfaction.

Overall, "Changing of the Skin" is a great addition to any George R.R. Martin fan's collection and a must-read for anyone who enjoys a good mystery or fantasy story.

This rating of 3.5 out of 5 indicates a certain level of satisfaction or performance. It implies that the subject being evaluated has met some expectations but still has room for improvement.

Perhaps it has some strengths that contribute to the relatively high score, yet there are also areas where it falls short.

It could be that the product or service has a good overall quality, but there are a few minor flaws that prevent it from achieving a perfect 5 out of 5.

Alternatively, it might suggest that the experience was satisfactory, but there are aspects that could be enhanced to make it even better.

Overall, a 3.5 out of 5 rating serves as a useful indicator for both the provider and the consumer, highlighting the areas that need attention and providing a basis for further development and improvement.

I picked up this book mainly due to George R.R. Martin's contribution. However, I was also delighted to reread some of the short stories by Steven King that I had relished in my younger days. Additionally, I got to explore the works of Dan Simmons, who was a new author to me.

I especially savored "Iverson's Pits". Even though it seemed to be leading towards a confrontation that I had foreseen, the events that unfolded during the encounter took an unexpected turn, which kept me on the edge of my seat.

The Skin Trade held particular interest for me. I have a penchant for uncovering the seeds of ideas that Martin has chosen to cultivate in his magnum opus, ASOIAF. And indeed, I discovered several in The Skin Trade. Most显著地, I firmly believe that the conflict between Willie and Roy served as the inspiration for the conflict between the Boltons and the Starks. As always, Martin's words had the power to transport me into the gritty and dilapidated world he was描绘ing, especially in the second half of the story.

All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable read that offered a diverse range of literary experiences and insights.

This was the first time I delved into anything penned by George R. R. Martin.

As I turned the pages, I was immediately captivated by his masterful storytelling.

His narrative style was engaging, filled with vivid descriptions and complex characters that seemed to leap off the page.

The story he wove was a tapestry of mystery, adventure, and drama, keeping me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end.

It was evident that Martin is a true wordsmith, able to create a world that is both believable and enchanting.

By far, his was the best story in the book, leaving a lasting impression on me and making me eager to explore more of his works.

I can't wait to see what other literary treasures he has in store for his readers.

Brilliant stories by brilliant authors. I only just discovered the awesomeness of Dan Simmons with Summer of Night. It was like uncovering a hidden treasure chest of literary wonder. The way he weaves the story, creating an atmosphere that is both eerie and captivating, is truly remarkable.

But I've been a fan of Stephen King since I was 10. His ability to tap into the deepest fears and desires of his readers is unmatched. His stories have the power to keep you on the edge of your seat, heart pounding, long after you've turned the last page.

I'd never read George R R Martin before even though I'm a huge GoT fan. I'd heard that although the story is great (of course), his writing wasn't. So, I hadn't bothered with any of his books. What a big mistake that was! His novella, The Skin Trade, is one of the best short stories (supernatural horror, or otherwise) that I have ever read! The writing is fluid and easy to get sucked into. I can't remember who told me that his writing wasn't skilled, but I can say they were wrong. He is not just a great storyteller; he is a master of the craft.

My other favourites in this collection are Simmons' Iverson's Pits and King's Sneakers. Each story offers a unique and unforgettable experience.

Having said that, they are all entertaining reads. I'm really glad I read this. I already have a pile of newly acquired Dan Simmons books to read, and now I'm going to go out and get some George R R Martin. I can't wait to explore more of their literary universes and be transported to new and exciting worlds.

It has quite interesting stories, especially those of Stephen King. However, some of the other stories are a bit boring.

Stephen King is a renowned author, and his works often captivate readers with their unique blend of horror, mystery, and psychological depth. The stories related to him in this context are likely to be engaging and full of the elements that have made him so popular.

On the other hand, the mention of some stories being a bit boring implies that not all the content is equally enticing. This could be due to various reasons such as differences in writing styles, themes that may not resonate with every reader, or perhaps a lack of sufficient excitement or novelty in those particular tales.

Overall, while there are some interesting aspects to the collection of stories, the presence of a few dull ones might slightly affect the overall impression. Nevertheless, it still holds the potential to offer an enjoyable reading experience for those who are interested in exploring different types of stories, especially those with a connection to the famous Stephen King.

The Skin Trade was the fifth volume in the Night Visions series of original horror story anthologies, and it was truly a very strong entry.

It consists of three stories each from Stephen King and Dan Simmons, and a terrific werewolf novella by George R.R. Martin. In fact, the title of Martin's novella was used for the mass market edition.

It's really quite impressive how Martin became such a star in all three genres: science fiction, horror, and fantasy. Simmons, of course, also did well with science fiction and horror, while King is a genre all to himself.

My favorite of the Simmons stories was Metastasis, and I enjoyed Iverson's Pits for its gritty depiction of the Civil War. Both Sneakers and Dedication by King were good. (He once again demonstrated that he must have a thing for bathroom horror.)

The Reploids seems like it needs a more satisfying conclusion; it is the least characteristic of his work of the three.

Altogether, it's a very good anthology of literary horror that offers a diverse range of stories from some of the most talented authors in the field.

What a bunch of truly weird stories!

For the most part, they are actually rather good. However, several of them do suffer from a typical problem that often occurs when 1980s dudes write about women. But, I'm quite willing to overlook this aspect because, after all, they were penned by dudes in the 1980s and the issue isn't overly pervasive throughout the collection.

The stories are creepy, which definitely adds to their allure. And let's not forget the bitchin' cover, which really catches the eye. Overall, there are no strong complaints from me. It's an interesting read that combines elements of the strange and the spooky, with just a touch of that 1980s charm.
