Beautiful photographs and beautiful writing.

These two elements come together to offer us a unique insight into a beloved writer.

The photographs capture the essence of the writer, perhaps showing them in their favorite writing spot or engaged in activities that inspire their creativity.

They give us a visual connection to the person behind the words.

Meanwhile, the beautiful writing takes us on a journey through the writer's thoughts, emotions, and imagination.

It allows us to experience their world and understand their perspective.

Together, the photographs and writing create a multi-dimensional portrait of the writer, one that enriches our appreciation of their work and gives us a deeper understanding of who they are as a person.

Whether we are long-time fans or new to the writer's work, this combination of beautiful photographs and beautiful writing is sure to captivate and inspire us.

I was truly excited when I first acquired this book. I had high hopes and expectations. However, to my great disappointment, its presentation was extremely bland. The collection of photographs was rather dull and failed to capture my interest.

I had been particularly eager to catch a glimpse of at least something related to his birthplace, Clatskanie. I had imagined seeing vivid images that would give me a sense of the place, its charm, and its significance. But alas, the book did not deliver on this front either.

It was a letdown, considering the initial excitement I had felt. I had hoped for a more engaging and captivating exploration of the subject matter, but unfortunately, this was not the case.

A tip of the hat to my wife for introducing me to both Jim Harrison and Raymond Carver. It's truly a wonderful thing that she has brought these two remarkable authors into my literary world. Their works have opened up new perspectives and emotions for me.

Now that I have been introduced to them, I am excited to work through our collection and read further. I look forward to delving deeper into the pages of their books, exploring the rich characters, and experiencing the unique storytelling styles that have made them so beloved.

Reading their works not only enriches my own literary experience but also deepens my appreciation for the power of words. I am grateful to my wife for this introduction and can't wait to see where this literary journey takes me as I continue to explore the works of Jim Harrison and Raymond Carver.

A truly beautiful book to delve into the life and work (so closely linked) of Raymond Carver.

The photos by Bob Adelman form a biographical narrative that traverses many of the places where Carver lived and that appear in his books. They also depict some of the people who inspired his characters (even the mold of the deformed dentures that appears in his story "Feathers").

The selection of texts that accompany the photos - among poems, fragments of stories and even unpublished letters - are the perfect complement to understand how intense the relationship was between his life and his work. Moreover, they make Ray even more endearing.

And the long epilogue by Tess Gallagher, wife, assistant and the "best critic" of Carver, is a beautiful text in which she tells anecdotes and analyzes key aspects of his work.

It is a beautiful book because one can feel all the love with which it is put together.

This book offers a unique and intimate look into the world of Raymond Carver, allowing readers to gain a deeper understanding of his creative process and the people and places that influenced him. It is a must-read for fans of Carver's work and anyone interested in the intersection of life and art.

This is not really a book that you simply read cover to cover. Instead, it is a volume that you peruse with care to truly understand the roots of Carver's fiction.

The excellent, touching, and somewhat sad black and white photography within these pages is a perfect fit for Ray's world.

Each photograph seems to tell a story, capturing the essence of the characters and the settings that Carver so vividly描绘 in his writing.

As you flip through the pages, you can almost feel the emotions that Carver intended to convey.

The images add a new dimension to his work, allowing you to see his world from a different perspective.

This book is a must-have for any fan of Carver's fiction or anyone interested in the art of photography. It is a beautiful and poignant tribute to a great writer and his unique vision.

"Guardare negli occhi le parole che ami" means "Look into the eyes the words you love" in Italian. This beautiful phrase seems to suggest a deep and intimate connection. When we look into someone's eyes, we can often see a world of emotions and meanings.

It's as if the eyes are a window to the soul, and within them, we can find the words that touch our hearts. Maybe it's a look of love, a gaze of understanding, or a sparkle of excitement.

These unspoken words can have a powerful impact on us, making us feel seen, heard, and valued.

By looking into the eyes of those we care about, we can communicate on a deeper level and form stronger bonds.

It's a simple yet profound way to connect with others and discover the beauty within them.

So, the next time you have the opportunity, take a moment to look into someone's eyes and see if you can find the words you love.
