This installment is by far the most profound and in some parts, it was a bit of a challenge to read. Once again, all five Baxter siblings are experiencing significant events in their lives. However, this story focuses most closely on Brooke Baxter. After a drowning incident in the family, her husband Peter has a crisis of faith, which he had just recently embraced, and spirals out of control. Whew! Listening to the details of the drowning and the immediate resuscitative efforts through the audiobook was not an easy task for me. So, for the first half of the book, I had to take it one chapter at a time. Although it was difficult to witness the tragedy, it was truly wonderful to see how the Baxter family and their close friends rallied around Brooke and provided her with support. They even extended their support to Peter, despite his initial reluctance to accept any help. The feelings of guilt that both Brooke and Peter harbored were truly heart-wrenching. But the way this family navigated through their difficult time was truly encouraging and filled with hope. I am reading this series with my dearest friend, and we absolutely love having real-time text conversations back and forth whenever something significant happens in the story. It adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the reading experience.
