Toni is a truly remarkable individual, known for her wisdom and extensive knowledge. For the most part, I find her interviews to be highly enjoyable. However, there is a significant drawback. The interviewers often tend to ask the same questions over and over again, and the information presented is repeatedly written as if it were an original idea or something that is absolutely necessary. As a result, this book becomes extremely repetitive. By around page 170, it becomes almost unbearable to continue reading. In fact, it was a torturous experience getting through all 287 pages. I must admit that I very ineffectively skimmed the last 100 or so pages. On the positive side, though, I was able to extract some really good quotes from the first 130 or so pages. Toni's words made me think deeply and reflect on various aspects. One of my favorite interviews in the book is the one with Toni Morrison by Charles Ruas, which spans from pages 93 to 118. In this interview, Toni delves into a plethora of relevant cultural topics. She is not only highly enlightening but also refreshingly honest in her responses. It is moments like these that make the book somewhat redeemable, despite its flaws.
