A well-worn story transformed into something absolutely original and different. Simmons is a plot artist, and moreover, a passionate man of letters, so it is not strange to find references to classics among his pages. It is an essential book for all lovers of fantasy-fiction.

His unique style of writing weaves together elements of the familiar and the unexpected, creating a world that draws readers in and keeps them captivated from beginning to end. The characters he creates are vivid and complex, each with their own motives and desires.

The story unfolds with a series of twists and turns that keep the reader on the edge of their seat, never quite sure what will happen next. Simmons' attention to detail and his ability to create a fully realized fictional universe make this book a must-read for anyone who loves to lose themselves in a good story.

Prima parte della prima parte della nuova mini saga di Dan Simmons...

Headache? No, it's just that in the new Code of the Italian Publishing Industry, safeguarded in some dusty corner of the Mondadori archives, there must have been a new article or clause introduced for some time now, which reads more or less like this: "Any printed work of fantasy, of uncertain interest to the general public but awaited by a small and faithful number of enthusiasts, if over 600 pages, must be divided into several parts, in order to guarantee greater revenues."

Even more recently, it seems that a further addition to the aforementioned rule has been approved: "Between the publication of the different parts of the single work, divided as provided for in the previous clause, several years may elapse."

Alas!

Anyway, coming to the book...

The Gods of Olympus have resurrected and gathered from different epochs some scholars in order to make them witness (as commentators) the events of the Trojan War that is being fought in some remote corner of space-time.

In a very distant future, the inhabitants of the Earth have become illiterate, have forgotten what art, music, literature, history, geography are and only worry about jumping from one festival to another through the fax nodes built for them by the post-humans, a race that they seem to consider as gods.

In the Jovian space, some moravec (robotic beings with organic parts evolved from the first robotic explorers sent by man to the moons of Jupiter), who have inherited from their creators the love for literature and human culture, organize a space mission to Mars.

Naturally, the three fronts of action during reading tend to converge...

That said, this saga is really fun! And reading it together with the Iliad doubles the entertainment...

I'm very curious to know how it will end.

This book is really great and very interesting. I couldn't find the other books anymore, but I really loved this one. The story is a bit strange, but it's really good. Now I use it for meditation. I bought it about 15 years ago and I've had it ever since.

It's amazing how this book has remained with me for so long. Every time I pick it up, it still manages to capture my attention and transport me to another world. The unique storyline and the way it's written make it a truly special read. Whether I'm looking for relaxation or inspiration, this book always seems to have something to offer.

I'm so glad I was able to discover this book all those years ago. It has become a part of my life and I cherish it dearly. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good read that will leave a lasting impression.

For a good half, one doesn't understand where it wants to lead. Thinking about it after having finished it, on page 384, it's a good thing. It arouses that curiosity that allows you to go on. During the reading, however, it's a big flaw because the slowness that pervades it could discourage the less courageous. Being half of a first part, it's still all a bit hazy but the world built by Simmons is worthy of note. I can't wait for the end!

The story seems to meander at times, making it a bit of a challenge to follow. But then, there are those moments that pique your interest and make you eager to see what comes next. The slowness can be frustrating, especially for those who like a fast-paced narrative. However, it also gives you the opportunity to really soak in the details of the world Simmons has created. It's a world that is both mysterious and captivating, and I find myself constantly drawn back to it.

Despite its flaws, I'm still enjoying the book overall. I'm looking forward to seeing how the story unfolds and what secrets are yet to be revealed. I have a feeling that the end is going to be worth the wait, and I can't wait to get there and find out for myself.

Solo una palabra: E-S-P-E-C-T-A-C-U-L-A-R. This is truly one of the best works of science fiction I have ever read. It is super original and completely absorbent, captivating my attention from the very first page. What's more, I knew almost nothing about the Iliad before reading this, but now I have learned so many things about this classic. The Moravecs are simply brilliant. Their ideas and concepts are mind-blowing and make me think about the future of humanity and technology in a whole new way. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves science fiction or wants to learn more about the Iliad. It is a must-read for any literature lover.

Breaking this book into two doesn't really make much sense, other than to charge people more. For the most part, the first part is very good. Dan Simmos' imagination is boundless. He creates a world that is both familiar and strange, filled with characters that are vivid and engaging. The story unfolds at a steady pace, keeping the reader hooked from beginning to end. However, the second part feels a bit rushed and disjointed. It seems as if the author was trying to cram too much into too little space. Some of the plotlines are left unresolved, and the ending feels a bit anticlimactic. Overall, while the first part of the book is a great read, the second part could have been better.

The first book of the saga is somewhat complex to understand at the beginning due to the large amount of background information that is implied in the three stories that don't seem to have a connection among them.

However, they eventually fit together and create the need to continue reading the following books. It is excellent and highly recommended.

For me, it is better than the Hyperion and Endymion saga.

This book manages to build an intricate world with multiple storylines that gradually intertwine, keeping the reader engaged and curious.

The details and the depth of the background information add to the richness of the narrative, making it a truly immersive experience.

Even though it may seem overwhelming at first, the payoff is well worth it as the story unfolds and reveals its true beauty and complexity.

If you are a fan of science fiction or complex storytelling, this book is definitely one to check out.

In the absence of major events, this book is a very good introduction and leaves everything in its place for what is to come in the following.

Nevertheless, it is a very good book. It doesn't become burdensome and the three stories are interesting.

Each story has its own unique charm and吸引力. The characters are well-developed and the plots are engaging.

The author has done a great job of creating a world that readers can easily immerse themselves in.

Whether you are a fan of the genre or just looking for an entertaining read, this book is definitely worth checking out.

It offers a great escape from reality and a chance to explore different ideas and emotions.

Overall, it is a highly recommended book that will leave you satisfied and eager for more.

Bueno, es difícil juzgar un libro que se queda a continuación.

There are so many aspects to consider when evaluating a book.

However, in general, I have liked it quite a bit.

The story has been engaging and has held my attention from start to finish.

The characters are well-developed and have their own unique personalities.

The writing style is also quite good, making it easy to read and understand.

Overall, I would recommend this book to others who enjoy reading.

It is a great read that will keep you entertained and engaged throughout.

I look forward to reading more books by this author in the future.

This wasn't what I expected from a Dan Simmons novel. There are three stories that seemingly have nothing to do with each other at first, but gradually they start to converge. In fact, the story about the Iliad seemed to me the most burdensome of the three. We'll have to wait until we finish the second part to see where it goes from there.

It's quite an interesting structure that Simmons has chosen. The way the different storylines are unfolding keeps the reader engaged and curious. The first story about the Iliad, although a bit heavy, might hold some crucial elements that will become clearer as the narrative progresses.

The second part of the book is eagerly awaited, as it could potentially shed light on how all these disparate threads will come together. Simmons is known for his complex and intricate plots, and this novel seems to be no exception. I'm looking forward to seeing how he weaves these stories into a cohesive and engaging whole.
