3.5 ⭐️

The book continues to expand on concepts presented in Rich Dad, Poor Dad. Very solid read for people looking to start their journeys in financial freedom.

Again, I don’t completely agree with his views…especially since he mentioned that he WANTED to be a capitalist investor. However, he does provide good insights into what is needed to be successful in gaining financial freedom.

a ray kroc of shit packaged in a nice purple cover, this book is 2 paragraphs of advice (put some money aside every month and try and invest that, learn investment strategies and don't fear failure) stretched in to nearly 400 pages of vague platitudes, empty space and blatant half-truths and lies. first of all, kiyosaki was never in real estate. his involvement in companies pre-becoming a writer were all dismal failures, and he only became successful because he marketed himself through MLMs (!!) which boosted his sales numbers. "rich dad" almost certainly never existed, and the "advice" he hands out shows either just how truly financially illiterate he is or the total contempt he has for the underprivileged and especially vulnerable audience he's targeting. amongst the dangerous advice are gems such as: just do insider trading (which is illegal)! write off vacations as business expenses (which is illegal)! start a corporation to avoid taxes (which will either actually raise your tax burden or is illegal)! don't go to college, and in fact drop out of high school (which is scientifically proven to be stupid)! go into debt and just throw your money at buildings!

all of this, though, can be seen as perhaps nothing worse than the run-of-the-mill "motivational" claptrap that's peddled by every modern day snake oil salesman. but this man isn't content with selling you snake oil, oh no. he's gonna make you but the whole goddamn factory. peppered throughout the book are references to "400 dollar courses" that supposedly changed kiyosaki's life. just a few pages later, hey, look it turns out kiyosaki is offering just such a course! now, hypothetically, let's say you pony up the 400 bucks and attend one of those courses. you know what the motherfucker does? he asks you to, no lie, raise your credit card limit to 100 THOUSAND dollars, then pitches you a 40-75 THOUSAND dollar course that will, somehow, magically make you rich. yeah, every book sold is just an ad for a 400 dollar course that's an ad for a 45 THOUSAND dollar course, and every step you're being slowly lubed up with messaging about "investment" and "seminars" and "non-traditional education" until suddenly you've mortgaged your home and maxed your three credit cards and all you have to show for it is a sticker that says "well done", a do-it-yourself instructional booklet and the ruins of your former life. he's a con man, a liar and a cheat offering nothing of substance, and literally went bankrupt in 2012. well. so much for "rich dad", huh.
