I truly believed that this particular installment was the absolute pinnacle of the series. The characters within it were not only highly believable but also incredibly multi-faceted.

Perhaps it was due to the fact that I had become so intimately acquainted with them over the course of the series. In any case, without a doubt, I felt that this one was my favorite. Additionally, I firmly believed that the spiritual message of 'integration', redemption, and the exemplary modeling of the Middle Way of Anglicanism was nothing short of brilliant.

Charles Ashworth's arduous journey and the profound ruminations on the role of mysticism in a church that was torn to the breaking point by its Liberal and Conservative wings provided me with even further cause for hope.

This is a book that I will most definitely read again, as it has left such a lasting and profound impression on me.

The best of the series!

This particular installment is truly comforting and satisfying. It has a charm that is simply irresistible.

I find it incredibly hard to believe that Charles Ashworth is not a real person. The author has crafted this character with such detail and authenticity that he seems to leap off the page.

His actions, thoughts, and emotions are so vividly described that one can't help but feel a connection to him.

It's as if he exists in a world parallel to our own, and we are just fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of his story.

The series as a whole is a masterpiece, but this one takes the cake.

It leaves the reader with a sense of fulfillment and a longing for more.

Whether you're a fan of the genre or just looking for a great read, this is definitely one to check out.

The least favorite of the six is a rather subjective matter.

Each person may have their own reasons for disliking one of the six. It could be due to its appearance, functionality, or perhaps personal preference.

For some, it might be the color that doesn't appeal to them. Others may find the design too complicated or not practical enough.

Maybe the performance of that particular one is not up to par compared to the others.

It could also be that it simply doesn't fit their needs or lifestyle.

Whatever the reason may be, the least favorite of the six holds a special place in the hearts of those who have chosen it as such.

It serves as a reminder that even among a group of similar things, there will always be one that stands out in a negative way for some individuals.

However, it's important to note that just because it's the least favorite for some doesn't mean it's completely without value.

There may still be others who appreciate and find use for it.

After all, beauty and preference are in the eye of the beholder.

Good finale to an excellent series. It’s been years since I first embarked on this literary journey, and as I reached the end, a part of me almost wished I could begin it all over again. The story was more than just a basic romance; it was a complex web of emotions, relationships, and profound themes that left me with so much to think about.

The characters were well-developed, each with their own flaws and virtues, making them relatable and endearing. The plot twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat, and the writing was beautiful and engaging. It was a story that touched my heart and made me reflect on my own life and relationships.

Overall, this series has been a wonderful experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good read. It’s a story that will stay with you long after you’ve turned the last page.

**Title: Boring**

Boring is a state of mind that can affect anyone at any time. It is that feeling of dullness and lack of interest that makes everything seem unappealing. When we are bored, time seems to pass slowly, and we struggle to find something to engage our attention.

Boredom can be caused by a variety of factors. It might be due to a lack of stimulation in our environment, such as doing the same repetitive tasks day in and day out. Or perhaps we are not interested in the activities that are available to us. It could also be a result of our own mindset, where we are not open to new experiences or ideas.

However, boredom doesn't have to be a negative thing. It can actually be a catalyst for creativity and self-discovery. When we are bored, our minds have the opportunity to wander and come up with new and interesting thoughts. We can use this time to explore our hobbies, learn a new skill, or simply relax and unwind.

In conclusion, while boredom may seem like a nuisance at times, it can also be a valuable experience. By embracing it and using it as an opportunity for growth and self-reflection, we can turn a potentially dull moment into something meaningful and fulfilling.

This is the sixth and final book in the "Church of England" series.

In this volume, we return to the original character towards the latter part of his life. It's always fascinating to me that no matter how much you think you know, as life goes on, when you look back you realise you knew very little.

The powerful message of forgiveness and redemption presented here is very comforting.

Here are some favorite quotes:

Charles Ashworth

"I must make it clear--if indeed it is not already obvious--that I am not a great spiritual athlete and in no way superior to the uneducated person who knows nothing of Platonic forms and just gets on with the job of praying without going through any intellectual hoops. In fact I envy such a person. My busy over-educated brain is a positive hindrance to prayer, and far too often my thoughts speed off on tangents which are intellectually fascinating but quite irrelevant to the task of praying in an acceptable manner."

Lewis Hall

"Oh, forget all about that bishop business for five minutes," said Hall crossly. "Ditch it along with the stiff upper lip, why not, and stop worrying about what I'd think of you because just at this moment I don't care who you are, I wouldn't even care if you were the Pope or Marilyn Monroe, all I care about is helping you bash your way out of this bugger-awful corner you're in."

Jonathan Darrow

At last when we were both utterly silent and utterly still he said: "I have but one comment to make on your behavior and that's this: it all seems a very long way from Jesus of Nazareth." And turning his back on us abruptly, he stalked away into his kitchen.

Neville "Stephen" Aysgarth

"All that matters," said Aysgarth firmly, "is that at the end of the day--and I'm glad to tell you the sun's just about to set on my activities--the accounts will be straight as a die and we'll all live happily ever after. I've just been living a little riskily for some months, that's all."

These quotes offer unique insights into the characters and their struggles within the context of the Church of England. They explore themes such as the complexity of faith, the role of education in spiritual life, and the importance of forgiveness and redemption. Each character has their own perspective and experiences, which add depth and richness to the overall narrative.

The final book in the series brings these storylines to a close, leaving readers with a sense of resolution and a deeper understanding of the characters and the world they inhabit. It's a thought-provoking and engaging read that will appeal to fans of religious fiction and those interested in exploring the human condition within a spiritual context.

The stories were filled with rich characters, complex relationships, and captivating plots that kept me hooked page after page. Each book in the series built upon the others, creating a seamless and immersive world that I didn't want to leave. It was a truly indulgent read, allowing me to escape into a different realm and lose myself in the drama and excitement. Whether it was the twists and turns of the storylines or the emotional depth of the characters, there was always something to keep me engaged. I would highly recommend this series to anyone looking for a fun and engaging read that will leave them wanting more.

Well, that's the end of the first 6 books.

I feel quite sad, like saying goodbye to dear friends.

However, I know there's the next trilogy sitting at home patiently waiting for me.

This final book is a weighty one, not only because of its numerous pages and the scholarly blend of psychology and theology, but also because of the sheer opportunity it provides for deep contemplation.

Each section and chapter is filled with at least three quotes that one can carry throughout the day to ponder and reflect upon.

You can approach this book in different ways.

You can read it and worry about the various factions within the Church of England, such as the liberal, conservative, and anglo catholic ones.

Or you can simply enjoy the captivating family saga that unfolds within its pages.

Alternatively, you can use it as a tool to examine your own character and challenge the way you perceive the world.

This book truly offers something for everyone.

This is my very first attempt within my current plan to listen to all of these books that I'm able to locate in audio format throughout this year. For no rational reason whatsoever, I've begun with the last book. (!) It's a sort of variation of the old "Read the Last Page of the Book Syndrome."

Audible offers Glamorous Powers, Mystical Paths and Scandalous Risks, along with this particular one. I have the intention of purchasing one each month. Glimmering Images and Ultimate Prizes are accessible at exorbitant prices in cassette tape format. I believe I'll skip them for now, but I will go back and reread them in book form.

I reread these books from time to time. I'm constantly astonished by how strongly I'm drawn to them, considering they aren't the type of books that typically appeal to me. I suspect it's due to the writing. Susan Howatch is a truly magical writer. I don't really have a fondness for the characters in these books, nor do I sympathize with the things they do. However, the honesty of these people's faith and the fact that they truly, truly strive to be good Christians shines through brightly. It's almost sufficient to restore one's faith in Christianity.
