I made an interesting choice. I read the last book in the series first! In fact, I listened to the audio version. It was truly remarkable. The story was riveting, filled with multiple layers and suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat. But it was not just that. It also had deep theological implications that made me think and reflect. Additionally, it was a beautiful tribute to Anglicanism. What fascinated me the most was that it included a spiritual director. However, he was a little more involved than what is typically seen. Now that I have experienced this final installment, I can work my way backwards through the series. I'm excited to see how the story unfolds and how all the pieces fit together. I'm sure it will be an equally engaging and thought-provoking journey.
Things in this book that truly took me by surprise yet, in hindsight, I perhaps should have come to expect by now are numerous. There are two tragic and untimely deaths that strike like bolts from the blue. The suddenness of them leaves one in a state of shock and disbelief. Then there is a suicide, which adds another layer of darkness and despair to the narrative. It makes one question the inner turmoil and demons that must have been plaguing the character. An exorcism also features prominently, bringing a sense of the supernatural and the unknown into the mix. It heightens the tension and makes the story even more captivating. And finally, there is a Ponzi scheme, which shows the greed and corruption that can exist within society. All of these elements combine to create a story that is both thrilling and thought-provoking.
