Hounynhnms.

These are words that might seem rather strange and perhaps even a bit mysterious at first glance.

Platform soles, on the other hand, are a more familiar concept. They are a type of footwear that has a raised sole, often adding height and a certain style to the wearer.

Now, the idea of "Eating babies" is a truly shocking and disturbing one. It's not something that is part of our normal, civilized world.

And then there's "The Pride of Kilkenny College." Kilkenny College is likely an institution with a rich history and traditions. The pride associated with it could refer to the achievements, the students, or the unique qualities that make it stand out.

Together, these words create a rather eclectic and thought-provoking combination. They make us wonder about the connections between them and what kind of story or meaning might lie beneath the surface.

Perhaps there's a hidden tale of a strange subculture that involves both platform soles and some sort of dark secret related to the college. Or maybe it's just a random collection of words that are meant to spark our imagination and get us thinking in new and unexpected ways.

Either way, they have certainly caught our attention and left us with more questions than answers.

Colonisation is a complex and often controversial topic that compels us to think deeply about its implications.

It forces us to question the assumption of moral superiority that was often used to justify the actions of the colonisers.

The idea that one group of people could impose their values, culture, and way of life on another under the guise of being more "civilised" or "enlightened" is a disturbing one.

We need to consider the impact of colonisation on the colonised peoples, including the loss of their land, traditions, and autonomy.

By reflecting on these issues, we can gain a better understanding of the past and work towards a more just and equitable future.

It is essential that we do not shy away from confronting the uncomfortable truths of colonisation and continue to engage in discussions that challenge our assumptions and broaden our perspectives.

This anthology's lynch pin is Gulliver's Travels. It is truly a remarkable piece of literature. What's not to love about the Dean of St. Patrick's Cathedral writing such a captivating story?

On the eve of the Enlightenment, he penned a tale about a man who extinguishes a palace fire in a rather unconventional way - by urinating on it. This unique and somewhat scandalous act immediately grabs the reader's attention and sets the stage for a series of extraordinary adventures.

Gulliver's Travels takes us on a journey through various strange and wonderful lands, filled with curious creatures and thought-provoking social commentaries. It is a work that combines humor, satire, and adventure in equal measure, making it a timeless classic that continues to engage and delight readers of all ages.

Whether you are a lover of literature or simply looking for an entertaining read, Gulliver's Travels is sure to satisfy. It is a book that will transport you to another world and leave you with a new perspective on the human condition.

I truly would have liked to have known this remarkable guy.

Every single compliment that pops into my mind seems woefully inadequate when it comes to describing him.

He is the kind of person who just seems to effortlessly embody all the qualities that one could ever hope for in a friend, a colleague, or a role model.

His charm, intelligence, and kindness are simply off the charts.

It's as if he was born with an innate ability to make those around him feel special and valued.

Whether it's through his words, his actions, or just his presence, he has this magical way of brightening up any room he walks into.

He truly deserves every single compliment that comes his way and then some.

I can only imagine the wonderful impact he must have on the lives of those who are fortunate enough to know him personally.

It's a pity that I haven't had the opportunity to get to know him better, but I'm sure that he is making a positive difference in the world wherever he goes.

I must say that I really struggled through Swift. His writings, although satirically brilliant, possess a pungent bitterness that makes me furrow my eyebrows.

I did manage to persevere and get through the entire collection, including the critical essays at the back. One of the many articles on excrement in the back of the book helps to explain my mixed reviews of Swift.

"The Yahoos represent the raw core of human bestiality; but the essence of Swift's vision and Gulliver's redemption is the recognition that the civilized man of Western Europe not only remains Yahoo but is worse than Yahoo--"a sort of Animals to whose Share, by what Accident he could not conjecture, some small Pittance of Reason had fallen, whereof we made no other use than by its Assistance to aggravate our natural Corruptions, and to acquire new ones which Nature had not given us." (Norman O. Brown, "The Excremental Vision")

A later essay quotes Huxley as once remarking that Swift "could never forgive man for being a vertebrate mammal as well as an immortal soul" (Dyson, "Swift: The Metamorphosis of Irony).

There just seems to be a bit too much misanthropy and not enough generosity in Swift for my taste. At least, he offers judgment universally against all, which could be seen as leaning towards a kind of ethics.

I struggle with Swift because I embrace both moderns and ancients alike, almanac writers and Houyhnhnms. If only Swift had lived long enough to read Whitman, perhaps he would have been less political and more pleasant. Now, I sound like the harsh one!

Brilliant!

We are genetically similar, which is truly a remarkable aspect of our existence. It's fascinating to think about how closely related we are on a fundamental level.

However, I do hope that my satire and parody don't cause too much pain for the subject. While satire and parody can be powerful tools for making a point or highlighting certain issues, it's important to be mindful of the impact they may have.

I strive to use these forms of expression in a way that is both entertaining and thought-provoking, without crossing the line into causing unnecessary harm.

After all, the goal is to engage in a meaningful dialogue and perhaps even bring about positive change.

So, while our genetic similarity is a given, I'll do my best to ensure that my creative endeavors are received with an open mind and a sense of humor.
