This was an outstanding book.

I have perused numerous leadership books in the past several months. However, this particular one has truly provided a comprehensive perspective on all the aspects that many other books attempt to address but do so inadequately.

It offers valuable insights and practical strategies that can help individuals to better understand themselves and their leadership styles.

Whether one is looking to leverage their strengths or overcome their weaknesses, this book has something to offer.

good read.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who is sincere in their attempt to self-examine and aspires to become a better leader. It is a must-read for those who wish to lead from a position of authenticity and effectiveness.

I firmly believe that this book holds great value for everyone, regardless of their station in life.

As we all assume leadership roles in one way or another, whether it's in our families, workplaces, or communities.

The chapter dedicated to the three types of leaders - king, priest, and prophet - was particularly enlightening.

It provided a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of each leadership style, highlighting their unique characteristics and strengths.

By understanding these different types of leaders, we can better identify our own leadership potential and develop the skills and qualities necessary to become more effective leaders.

Moreover, this knowledge can also help us to work more effectively with others, regardless of their leadership style.

Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in improving their leadership skills and making a positive impact in the world.

This is a truly great read. I was really impressed by how prophetic it was! Dr. Allender does an outstanding and seemingly effortless job of igniting your ego and then making you observe it. He has a deep understanding of the contours of the heart, and I found myself exclaiming "Ope" in every chapter. Although some of the content went over my head, I absolutely love his radically humble vision of a broken leader.

This is, without a doubt, the best model of leadership that I have ever read. It challenges our traditional notions of leadership and presents a new and refreshing perspective. Dr. Allender's insights are both profound and practical, and they have the potential to transform the way we think about and approach leadership.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in leadership, personal growth, or simply understanding the human heart. It is a must-read for anyone who wants to become a better leader and make a positive impact in the world.

I have an intense love for Dan Allendar. He is truly one of the very few Christian leaders in America who beautifully models a biblical "brokenness," also known as a "limp."

Allendar has a profound understanding that our imperfections are intricately woven into the stories that the Lord is penning for each and every one of us, and they even play a major and significant role.

Take Jacob, for example. He was transformed through a wrestling match where he had the boldness to beg God for change. This change came in the form of redemption and purity.

We all have our own unique stories, and some of us have endured great trials within them. Allendar writes with the intention of helping you to understand that being "marred" by sin is actually an integral part of the whole journey.

The wonderful good news that he so eloquently explains is that you are also in the process of being "remade." His work is not only a great read but it comes from someone who is truly living it. He is the real deal!

One of the absolute best books I have ever had the pleasure of reading on this particular topic.

Allender truly hits the nail on the head when it comes to what people deeply yearn for - sincere and authentic leaders. These are not leaders who strive to be flawless but rather those who attempt to live out grace and mercy.

He really, really gets to the heart of the matter for a significant number of Christian businesses and ministries. The issue at hand is that there are leaders who are petrified of being perceived as anything less than perfect.

This fear often holds them back from being their true selves and from leading in a way that is genuine and impactful.

Allender's insights in this book offer a refreshing perspective and a much-needed wake-up call for those in positions of leadership within the Christian community.

It challenges them to let go of the need for perfection and to embrace the power of grace and mercy in their leadership.

Overall, this book is a must-read for anyone who is interested in the topic of leadership and who desires to see more authenticity and grace in the Christian world.

I was brought to tears within the first 20 pages of this remarkable book on leadership and its numerous challenges.

It truly manages to put into words the arduous and often painful stretching that occurs during the process of evolving as a leader.

The author doesn't shy away from presenting the harsh reality that flaws and brokenness are an inherent part of every leader.

It's a refreshingly honest and raw exploration of what it means to lead.

We often have this idealized image of leaders as being perfect and infallible, but this book shatters that illusion.

It shows that even the greatest leaders have their shortcomings and have had to face difficult situations that have tested their mettle.

Reading this has made me realize that leadership is not about being without flaws, but rather about having the courage to face them and grow from them.

It's a powerful reminder that we are all human, and that leadership is a journey of continuous learning and self-discovery.

I can't wait to see what else this book has in store as I continue to read.

This is an excellent read that is very well written. Among all the books I have read on this subject, "Leading with a Limp" stands out. It offers the best explanation of servant leadership. It doesn't just stop at explaining but also provides valuable guidance on how to truly lead with humility. The author has done a remarkable job in presenting the concept in a clear and understandable way. Whether you are a seasoned leader or someone who is just starting to take on leadership roles, this book has something to offer. It challenges you to look at leadership from a different perspective and encourages you to embrace humility as a key ingredient in effective leadership. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in becoming a better leader.

Listened to an abridged audio book.

It was a captivating experience. The narrator's voice brought the story to life, making it easy to follow along even while doing other tasks. The abridgment had been well done, retaining the essence of the original work. Despite the shortened length, the key plot points and character developments were still intact. As I listened, I found myself fully immersed in the fictional world created by the author. The audio book allowed me to multitask and make the most of my time, while still enjoying a great story. It was a convenient and enjoyable way to consume literature, and I would definitely listen to more abridged audio books in the future.

Overall, it was a great choice for those who are short on time but still want to experience the magic of a good book.

This is an imperfect book in many ways.

I was particularly challenged by the anger in Allender’s writing regarding some of the challenges he faced at his school. It seemed inappropriate to me for him to express himself in that manner when he could have edited those sections to present a more agreeable statement. However, perhaps that is part of the book's own lesson.

Despite that, the teachings of this book are of inestimable value to today's leaders. Firstly, the assertion that brokenness (and foolishness) is essential for all leaders was outstanding. But it didn't end there. I was especially satisfied with the final few chapters when Allender delves into very practical advice and his metaphor of the king, priest, and prophet. It was beneficial for me to reflect on my own strengths and weaknesses as a leader through this perspective, and I suspect other leaders would gain a great deal from what this book has to offer.

4/5, would recommend to all leaders, especially those in Christian organizations.

This is not an ordinary leadership book, and that's precisely what I adored about it.

Its primary emphasis lies in being an authentic, humble, and sincere leader. It's all about being forthright and exposing our vulnerabilities regarding our weaknesses, and surrounding ourselves with individuals who are not only willing to back us up but also have the wisdom and care to confront us.

Although certain ideas might seem a bit repetitive at times, I firmly believe that this book offers a distinct and valuable perspective on leadership. It provides practical insights and encourages leaders to embrace their true selves, which is essential for building strong teams and achieving success.

Overall, it's a must-read for anyone interested in leadership and personal growth.

Leadership is an essential quality that can have a profound impact on the success of an individual, a team, or an organization. A great leader is someone who has the ability to inspire and motivate others, set clear goals and directions, and make tough decisions when necessary.

They possess excellent communication skills, which allow them to effectively convey their vision and ideas to their followers. They also listen attentively to the concerns and suggestions of others, and are able to build strong relationships based on trust and respect.

In addition, great leaders are adaptable and flexible, able to respond quickly to changing circumstances and challenges. They are not afraid to take risks and try new things, and they encourage their teams to do the same.

Overall, leadership is about much more than just being in charge. It is about inspiring others to reach their full potential, and leading by example to create a positive and productive work environment.

People give rapturous praise for this book,

yet I may be completely off the mark. I made the mistake of leaving it on the bus from Sarajevo,

perhaps there was more that I failed to notice. It has valid points regarding leading from weakness,

which in the evangelical subculture where Allender hails from appears to be prohibited. The fundamental Bible teaching that in our weakness lies God's strength is his central point.

This is indeed good. However, he wrote it immediately after experiencing a major leadership crisis of his own,

and his institution nearly collapsed as a result. Moreover, it was published before the lawsuit against them was won (as far as I can tell).

So, it is somewhat of a pre-emptive strike book and comes across as astonishingly self-serving throughout.

Therefore, I would suggest not reading it.
