Such a good writer and such a good story. When you are reading this one, you can truly feel his emotions and the struggle he is going through. It's like you are right there with him, experiencing every moment. Now, we are getting into “night”. I'm reading out of order, which is a bit of an interesting choice. Apparently, reading “night” first would have made this book even better. It might have given a different perspective and a deeper understanding of the overall narrative. But even so, reading it in this way is still an engaging experience. The writer's ability to bring the story to life and make the reader feel so connected is truly remarkable. I can't wait to see what else this book has in store for me as I continue to read.

I am an extremely huge fan of Elie Wiesel, so I was very content with this book. Ever since I read "Night" and witnessed his interview with Oprah Winfrey, I became completely hooked.

Rarely has such a concise novel made me contemplate as profoundly as this one. Usually, it is the hefty 500-page tome that seeps into your dreams as you immerse yourself in it over a few weeks. However, in merely 80 pages, Elie Wiesel delves deep into the subconscious, into the darkest recesses of the soul.

The setting is Palestine around 1947. The British are still in charge of the mandate. Palestine is the home of thousands of Holocaust survivors from across Europe, desperate individuals who have endured death and the lowest depths of the human experience. They are cultured souls from the Jewish diaspora, whose pre-war world has been shattered, and they fight for what they believe in. A young fighter has been tasked with executing a British soldier. He will have to kill him at dawn.

Wiesel closely examines the mindset of the group of young Jewish fighters opposing British occupation, gathered in a house near Tel Aviv, and their motivations for the violence they are perpetrating against the occupiers.

Attempt to envision these young, idealistic, and ruthless fighters, and then compare them to the Palestinians of today, the idealistic and ruthless Hamas fighters in Gaza. There is hardly any difference at all.

Tons of respect for the man.

However, I think I read this when I was perhaps a bit too old. (My goddaughter, for instance, read it when she was just thirteen.)

Maybe it's because I've delved into too many books on the Holocaust and already feel completely gutted by the horrors described within them.

Nonetheless, I am so incredibly grateful that he survived to be able to tell his stories.

What an extraordinary man he is! His experiences and the way he has shared them are truly remarkable.

It makes one reflect on the atrocities of the past and the importance of remembering.

Despite my own feelings of being perhaps a bit jaded from previous readings, I still recognize the significance of his work.

His survival is a testament to the human spirit's resilience in the face of unfathomable darkness.

We should all take the time to listen to his stories and learn from them.

I was initially confused when I began reading Dawn. It is listed as a sequel to Wiesel's Night, which is more of a nonfiction memoir. However, while Dawn shares a similar theme with Night due to the subject matter, it is a fictional work. In this novel, Wiesel delves into thoughts about killing and death, particularly the question of whether killing a person can ever be justifiable.

The story focuses on Elisha, a young Jewish man who now fights for the freedom of his people in Palestine. He has been selected to execute a captured English officer as retaliation for the execution of another freedom fighter. Despite its short length, Dawn provides a comprehensive look into Elisha's life.
Like I mentioned earlier, this is a short book that I thoroughly enjoyed. It offers a hard-hitting examination of the circumstances that have led Elisha to his current role as an Israeli freedom fighter. The novel deals with complex issues based on Elisha's and his friends' experiences during the Holocaust. Since he has been chosen to take a life, the concept of death is at the forefront of Elisha's memories and reflections. It explores not only what death means but also how randomly it selects its victims.
Moreover, Dawn delves into relationships, friendship, family, and the purpose of war. Elisha is conflicted because of the atrocities committed against his people. He desires to be peace-loving but struggles with the violence required of him as a freedom fighter. At the same time, he firmly believes that his people deserve a place of their own to live. Elisha is a character who elicits empathy, and his gentle personality makes it easy to feel sympathy for him and his friends.
I loved Dawn for its unflinching honesty in exploring complex ideas and its refusal to shy away from the dark truths. It shows how people can somehow justify taking lives, believing it to be a way to prove their strength and win. Wars are indeed ugly and will remain so until we find a way to end the violence.
Although it is not a happy book, it is well worth reading, especially when considered as a thematic sequel to Wiesel's Night. It allows us to look beyond the statistics and numbers of executions during the Holocaust and understand the profound damage it caused to the survivors, wounds that we continue to grapple with and attempt to heal today.

Well written, just kind of boring.

This statement implies that while the piece of writing may be grammatically correct and structurally sound, it lacks the engaging qualities that would make it truly interesting.

Perhaps the language used is too平淡or the ideas presented are not novel enough.

To make it more captivating, the author could consider adding more vivid descriptions, using more interesting vocabulary, or presenting unique perspectives.

Adding some personal anecdotes or examples could also help to bring the writing to life and make it more relatable to the reader.

By taking these steps, the author can transform a well-written but boring piece of writing into one that is both engaging and enjoyable to read.

Not what I expected;

RTC, which stands for Real-Time Communication, has been a topic of great interest and anticipation in recent times. However, my recent experience with it has left me somewhat disappointed.

I had high hopes for RTC to provide seamless and efficient communication capabilities. I expected it to offer real-time audio and video calls with excellent quality, instant messaging without any delays, and the ability to share files and collaborate in real-time.

Unfortunately, what I encountered was far from what I had envisioned. The audio and video calls often suffered from poor connectivity, resulting in choppy audio and pixelated video. The instant messaging feature had significant delays, making it difficult to have a smooth conversation. Additionally, file sharing was not as straightforward as I had hoped, and there were compatibility issues with certain file formats.

Overall, my experience with RTC has been a letdown. It has failed to meet my expectations and has left me longing for a more reliable and efficient communication solution.

There are times, his father said, when words and prayers are not enough. This profound statement sets the tone for a story that delves deep into the human psyche.

The second book in Elie Wiesel’s trilogy, a work of fiction, takes us on a harrowing journey. It vividly recounts the complex feelings, tortured thoughts, and intense struggles of a Holocaust survivor. This survivor finds himself in a difficult and morally ambiguous situation during the British control over Palestine. He is tasked with the unthinkable - to execute a hostage.

"Tomorrow I shall kill a man," I said to myself, reeling in my fall. "I shall kill a man, tomorrow." These words echo in our minds, highlighting the internal turmoil of the protagonist. But the question remains: would he be able to pull the trigger? The story builds anticipation and forces us to confront the difficult choices that one may face in such extreme circumstances. It makes us question our own values and what we would do if placed in a similar situation. Wiesel's masterful storytelling keeps us on the edge of our seats, eager to discover the outcome of this heart-wrenching tale.

Don't judge me, don't kill me, don't even attempt to murder me… But, to be honest, I liked this book more than the first one.

The first book, "Night," is a non-fiction work. It vividly describes what Elie Wiesel endured during World War II. When I began reading this second book, I initially thought it would be a direct sequel to the first. In a way, it was, but it also delved into the author's subconscious, making it a historical fiction novel, which I had no problem with at all! I'm aware that many of you might think, "You prefer to read about something that wasn't a real issue rather than about something that was a huge problem for countless people." However, that's not the case. In fact, this second book addresses a matter that was and still is a problem for a great many people, a subject that persists due to certain religions and beliefs (I won't go into that here; otherwise, I'd be writing forever).

Overall, I truly liked this book. I actually loved it, and it will always be one of my favorites because the subject matter is so real. It really makes you think deeply about many things.

So, yes, I highly recommend this book to everyone, and I also think you should read the first one as well.

Wow, it is truly powerful to read the story of Elie Wiesel. His account of the Holocaust is both harrowing and inspiring. Wiesel's words have the ability to transport the reader to a time and place that is difficult to imagine.

The details he provides about the atrocities committed during the Holocaust are heart-wrenching. Yet, through it all, he manages to find hope and meaning. His story serves as a reminder of the importance of never forgetting the past and of standing up against injustice.

Reading Wiesel's work is not only an educational experience but also a deeply emotional one. It forces us to confront the worst of human nature and to ask ourselves what we would have done in his situation. 4 ⭐

The original article seems to be rather brief and perhaps a bit unclear. However, based on the given text, here is an expanded version:

I firmly believe that there are certain things that I would not have my children read.

In this day and age, with the abundance of information available, it is crucial to be selective.

Some materials may contain inappropriate content, such as violence, vulgarity, or negative values.

I want to protect my children from being exposed to such harmful influences at a young age.

By carefully choosing what they read, I can ensure that their minds are filled with positive and educational content.

This will help them develop into well-rounded individuals with strong moral compasses.

I understand that they will eventually encounter different perspectives and ideas as they grow older, but for now, I will do my best to shield them from anything that I deem unfit for their young eyes and minds.

Just as thought-provoking and tear-provoking as the first, Wiesel never ceases to surprise me.

His words have the power to touch the deepest recesses of our souls and make us confront the harsh realities of the world.

Wiesel's writing is a testament to the human spirit's resilience in the face of unimaginable苦难.

It forces us to question our own values and actions, and to consider the consequences of our choices.

His works are not just stories, but a call to action, a plea for us to make a difference in the lives of others.

Every time I pick up one of Wiesel's books, I am reminded of the importance of empathy, compassion, and justice.

He has truly left an indelible mark on the literary world and on our collective conscience.
