So boring….

Life seems to have fallen into a rut lately. The days pass by in a blur, filled with the same mundane tasks and activities. Wake up, go to work, come home, eat, sleep, and repeat. There's no excitement, no new experiences, no challenges to keep me on my toes.

I find myself longing for something more, something that will break the monotony and add some sparkle to my life. Maybe it's a new hobby, a trip to a far-off place, or a new relationship. I'm not sure what it is, but I know that I need a change.

I try to look for inspiration in the world around me, but everything seems so ordinary and unremarkable. The people I meet, the places I go, the things I see – it all blends together into a dull and colorless landscape.

I know that I can't just sit around and wait for something to happen. I have to take matters into my own hands and actively seek out the things that will make my life more interesting and fulfilling. So, I'm going to start small. I'll try a new recipe, read a book in a genre I've never explored before, or take a walk in a part of town I've never been to. Maybe these little things will lead to bigger and better things, and before I know it, I'll be out of this rut and living the life I've always dreamed of.

Scott Hahn? Theological. Ninja.

It's not even July yet, but this is hands down the best book I've read so far this summer. Cardinal Leveda's recent comparison of Scott Hahn to CS Lewis comes as no surprise.

As for this remarkable book, let me allow another Catholic rock star to give it a well-deserved plug:

"Hahn reflects simply yet profoundly on the nitty-gritty of life, love, relationships, marriage, and family in the context of the bedrock doctrines of the Christian faith. This book is chock-full of good news and solid answers to life's toughest questions." ~Archbishop Charles Chaput

Scott Hahn's work truly stands out. His ability to bring together the complex teachings of the faith and apply them to the everyday aspects of our lives is nothing short of amazing. The book is a must-read for anyone seeking deeper understanding and guidance in their spiritual journey. It offers practical wisdom and inspiration that can help us navigate through the challenges and joys of life with a stronger foundation in our faith.

I highly recommend this book to all. It has the potential to transform your perspective and enrich your life in ways you never thought possible.

I initially thought this was a book that delved deeply into the complex and multi-faceted topic of marriage. However, as I began reading, I quickly realized that it was not what I had expected.

After getting through the first few chapters, I was on the verge of putting it aside. But, for some reason, I decided to persevere and finish it. To my disappointment, I found the content to be as shallow as a puddle. It lacked the engaging and thought-provoking material that I had hoped for.

That being said, there were a few passages that made me stop and think. I'm not entirely sure if it was Hahn who wrote those parts or if it was Mike Aquilina, as I've been told that he is the author of most of the books with Mr. Hahn's signature.

On the positive side, this book can be a good resource for kids in Jr. High. It contains a lot of intrinsic "proofs" that support the claim that the Catholic Church is the one, true Church. In this regard, I found it to be somewhat fruitful. It can serve as a good reinforcement for your kids to remain within the fold of the Holy Mother Church.

Overall, I would recommend this book for young teens and/or tweens. It may not be a literary masterpiece, but it does have some value for those in this age group.

While I do not concur with the Catholic theology presented by this author within this book, it indeed offers an intriguing insight into the mindset of those who are devout believers in the Catholic faith.

The book may present certain doctrines and interpretations that I find myself at odds with. However, it is important to note that different perspectives can often lead to a more comprehensive understanding of a particular subject.

By delving into the thoughts and beliefs of true Catholic believers, we can gain a better appreciation for the diversity of religious experiences and the profound impact that faith can have on an individual's life.

Although I may not share their theological views, I can still respect and learn from the dedication and passion that these believers exhibit.

This book serves as a reminder that in the realm of religion, there are many different paths and interpretations, and it is through open dialogue and exploration that we can hope to gain a deeper understanding of the human experience.

First Comes Love is an engaging book that delves into the profound concept of family, yet not in the traditional worldly sense. Instead, it centers around the Trinity and the Church. By examining the Gospels, we can observe that Jesus frequently employed familial terms. In fact, He went as far as to state that His true family consisted not of His biological mother, brothers, and sisters, but those who do the will of God. Dr. Hahn explores this theme and much more within the pages of this book.

The book commences with a personal love story from Dr. Hahn. He vividly describes how he met his future wife Kimberly, and it was indeed love at first sight. He draws a comparison between the love he felt and the love Adam must have felt for Eve, elucidating that man is created for woman and vice versa. He then proceeds to share the personal account of how love begot more love with the pregnancy of their first child. However, complications arose during labor, necessitating an emergency C-Section. Thankfully, the procedure was a success, and both mother and baby were unharmed. This experience, nevertheless, caused Dr. Hahn to view his wife in a new and more beautiful light.

The remainder of the book expounds on who God is and what the Church represents. God is portrayed as Family, Covenant, and Love. It is also emphasized that God became man for us. Dr. Hahn simplifies Trinitarian theology and elucidates how the Catholic Church is analogous to a home and family. Interestingly, my favorite section was actually the appendix, which delved into the Holy Spirit. St. Maximilian Kolbe's statement, "The Holy Spirit is the uncreated Immaculate Conception," was particularly thought-provoking. Additionally, reading about the concept of the bridal-maternity of the Holy Spirit was fascinating. It is important to note, however, that this does not imply that we should refer to God as "mother" or that the Godhead has a gender. "God created the human forms of physical gender and sexuality to be created reflections of the purely immaterial relations unique to each member of the Trinity." This is a complex concept to grasp, but the more one reflects upon it, the more sense it makes. If you are seeking to gain a deeper understanding of the role of family in the Trinity and the Church, then this book is an excellent choice for you.

The Catholic Family is indeed the exemplary model of the Blessed Trinity. It serves as a tangible symbol for all those who bear witness to the sacrificial love that comes with being both a spouse and a parent.

In my life, the two most arduous tasks I have ever undertaken are being a parent and a husband. Scott Hahn vividly demonstrates how the sacrificial love within the family, for the benefit of the other, is a model in accordance with 1 John 4:8, which states, "Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love."

The Catholic Family, with its emphasis on selfless love and sacrifice, shows us the true meaning of love as taught by God. It is a beautiful and inspiring example that we should all strive to follow in our own lives.

By living out this sacrificial love within the family, we can not only strengthen our relationships with our loved ones but also draw closer to God and experience His love in a deeper and more profound way.
